@bjsage Cujo shut them out for 2 games and 2 1/2 periods before giving up 2 goals to tie game 3. Cory Cross scored early in OT. I was there, it was so sweet.

I miss the anxiety of caring about the outcome of a game, those were great years, the Leafs played some great hockey, and came a couple bad games short of making it to the Big Show. Sadly, it will likely be at least another 5 or 6 or 7 years before they even come close to that. SIgh...oh well Leafs fans still have the Olympics to cheer about, Crosby better be fucking GOLDEN in 2010 and win us a Gold medal! I think he will.

i remember watching this game at hooters in toronto with like 8 of my cousins and my dad, and i was only 8, and when Sundin scored we all jumped up, and my cousin jumped and made me fall off the chair. I will never forget that game. PING!!!!

Everyone in Ontario had written off the Leafs before this game, especially the Toronto media. Sundin's goal was such an "F U" to the likes of Cox and Simmons, because you just knew the Leafs would go on to win the series. Great, great memory. The only Leaf goal I celebrated more was Borchevsky's.

This is exactly the difference between Toronto and Ottawa. Ottawa does well during the regular season because they have pansies like Alf and Heatley who dance around and celebrate like they won the Cup on goals that put them up 7-1 against far weaker teams. In the playoffs, they get owned because they have no heart.

Remember it like yesterday...this was when Mats was using the Easton Synergy but was still contracted to Louisville...So he'd use a torch and burn the stick all black before game time...This is when composite sticks were fairly new as well...used to be articles about them in the papers

Yes I remember that too!!!... it was Dmitri Yushkevich's sticks. I remember Yuski saying that Sundin can take all of his sticks as long as he keeps scoring. Then Yushki added something to the effect of "I can play with a broom if he takes all my sticks"
