  • Wow, the hourglass surely remembles the state DOOL was in during this period, near the bottom of the ratings along with NBC's other soaps, all coming in last, behind ABC and CBS. The only rival NBC SOAPS beat out combined, was THE EDGE OF NIGHT on ABC.

  • @LaurenLover81

I never understood that either. I NEVER watched any soap until this one and that was only by accident of me being in a room while it was on and got hooked that easily. I tried watching other soaps but NONE even came close in my opinion. I watched from late 1984 until 1995, then stopped. Other soaps just weren't the same. The only other soap that caught my interest was General Hospital. I think because these two soaps, Days and GH were more action oriented and days had grt music

  • @LaurenLover81

I agree though. I hated that hourglass in this video. Glad this didn't last long.

  • are there anymore closing theme songs to that long running nbc daytime soap series, perhaps from early 1973-74 with promos and shows by another nbc announcer?

  • No they didn't... they used this hourglass just 4 the closing.

  • Did they use the same hourglass in the opening credits as well as the closing credits?

  • This also contains part of a promo for at least two NBC shows ("Fame" and "Diff'rent Strokes") that has Casey Kasem's voice over it.

  • When in 1982 did this air?

  • Looks like they modernized the graphics sometime between 1979-82, considering as late as 1979 there wasn't even a copyright during the closing credits.

  • I hope so. I recorded the SoapNET special years ago that showed the first and second ep. I will look for it and post it.

  • I've always wanted to see some closing credits of DoOL from before 1983-84.

Thanks for posting up this closing from 1982!

Now we can find out if someone has any closings from the '60s or '70s and/or even more early '80s closings.

  • I don't have the old closing. Sorry

  • ok, that's fine

  • can pleaz try uploading it?

    or u can't?

  • sure, i'll try to do it.

  • Thanks!

  • It's kind of weird how this was a 1982 episode (hence the copyright reading 1982) but the opening credits prior to December 1984 still had that bizarre 1972 Corday Productions byline in the intro.

  • They didn't show everybody. These credits were from an April sweepes period.

  • Wow....only three writers? Didn't DAYS back in the early 80's have a large cast? You would think they would of needed more than three. So cool to see MacDonald Carey on the credits. He was such a great actor!

  • @jollygiant79 Maggie DePriest and Sheri Anderson were more than capable of writing Days by themselves at the time. I think thats one of the problem with soaps today, too many writers spoil the vision.

  • Ok. In 1972 They changed it to the one we all know, the theme from 1972-1993. When they made the transition in the 70-s, they just made seperate closing credits.

  • you're absolutely right. in 1972 they did change it to the one we're all used to seeing...far as the opening.

also one thing to point out, during the times of those multiple closing themes, they used the same theme song closing from 1965-1982. then sometime in 1982, they used a theme different from this one, but with the same hourglass. it was an orchestration-like theme (still haven't seen anyone that has this one).

  • and finally in 1984, they finally used the same opening look for the closing with this theme used. it's a bit weird that they did these number of changes while keeping the same opening theme for 20 years

  • There was a different theme like that in 1982, and yes, it was a little simular to this theme but different. I found it like a while ago but the owner deleted it.

I dunno why, perhaps its wayy to old?

  • that was mine. i did a custom ending of the older theme with this hourglass, but owners of WoST had a long issue with me, so I had to take it down. I still haven't decided whether I'll do another one....

  • Pleaz!!!!!

You have no idea how much i love dat theme!

I hope u put it back up cuz dats my favorite theme of all time!

  • I never have understood why the opening hourglass and closing hourglass were different at this time...

  • I don't think I have that. Let me look around

  • sorry i deleted your last comment. What do you mean full credits?

  • oh i thought i did that myself. i mean the full cast and crew with the long theme song.

  • very nice!!

  • Thanks, came from moms tapes.

  • excellent closing well done!
