In all this game, the devil is losing and at the end will be accused of everything because GOD don’t want any rivals. Conclusion: live at the full in the freedom of GOD (praying in a right form, following the INSTRUCTIONS in the Bible - keeping the 10 commandments - including keeping the Saturday as the 7th day etc.) instead of in the incapacity and limited power of devil because he is just a temporary puppet. Jesus Christ is our savior and our hope!
05:01 LIARS. They knew it was genocide, they knew they were legally obligated according to their own laws to help those people. Maybe they would have done something if they had realized how incredibly easy it would have been, but they knew they had to do something and they refused to.
My country's government is a self-centered, contradictory, mindblocked, ignorant, head-butting, public-eye obsessed piece of shit. I am ashamed watching Clinton give this speech. I would much rather live in a country where people ACTED on what they KNEW was right, rather than try to define terms to avoid thier duties as human beings. This is just fucking criminal. THREE MONTHS to send 30 APCs?????!?!?!!? And we have the BEST military in the world. Fuck US.
@LordMalice6d9 Really? There's no evidence for that except for Gadhafi an his ex-regime calling them Al-Qaeda....and remember this same ex-regime even denied that there was a revolution for months, so you're going to take their word for it? Intelligence reports SUGGEST FLICKERS of Al-Qaeda presence....nobody is perfect...for fuck sake there was a terrorist in the US Army!! The best thing to do is to make sure those flickers don't gain power as they did in Afghanistan(in 1996).
I wonder how these people feel now that they've said all they have and not do what had to be done but played politics while people were being slaughtered. smh. and those soulless, gutless hutus who killed their own people, SHAME ON YOU!!! You're all black people, come on man...I will NEVER accept the excuse of you being "possessed" SHAME!
'by the time that it happened, you couldnt do anything about it' Albright.
utter bullshit. it took them four months to work out what was going on did it? if it had been her children, shed have done something about it in a heartbeat.
@kevtherealest Hey... Its not the New Yorkers hacking the Tutsi's. It's Rwandas problem let them sort it out, if them niggers want to kill each other...hey its their bussines not ours.
@ian2008931 in that case don't go dictating terms and conditions to "them niggers". Of course it's never been any of your business anywhere but in your country.Anyway 1 day you will give an account to every act, thought and word you said. they help libya, but they couldnt help Rwanda. how many have died in libya? im not saying we should stop helping but if we help libya we should help rwanda. oh right i forgot there are only poeple in rwnada not money. fuck me.
Guys don't blame the belgians and the UN, I'd be scared too if I had a big ass gun, and a big cannon up in the sky and I'm up against a bunch of punks with machetes who can't even shoot strait. I'm shitting my pants holding my bad ass rifle. Anyone would! Those machetes are scary (note the sarcasm).
I love the fact that the powers that be refer to this as the Rwandan Genocide AFTER it was over! Calling it that DURING that time would have forced them to act according to their own doctrine!
How can you stand there and tell me when almost 1 million ppl die in less then 3 months with eyewitness accounts suvivor reports victims families reports Red Cross reports videos New reports that you did NOT know or the situation is unclear? Give me a break!!!
@UtopiaMinor666 Obama is a war criminal, he has singlehandedly launched more tomahawk missles on a soveriegn nation of Libya than all other past U.S presidents combined! He didn't even get approval from congress to initiate military action in Libya which you are suppose to as president. How can I ever have respect for a president who does not respect the Constitution of the United States.
@LordMalice6d9 Im sorry but have you been asleep during bush's reign. this is a pres who has cancelled all prior flights to switzerland becuase he is being charged for war crimes. He did not ask for congressional approval, and obama doesnt even have ground troops in libya. On top that Obama has thwarted the forecoming genocide of libyan civilians. No, no lfy zone was established during Rawanda. I think he's done a great job.
@LordMalice6d9 that is a true statement. I am for his thwarting of the genocide though, becuase even if it were rebels he is protected (including Al' Queda rebels) he has help save innocents civilians as well.
The UN was not established for the reasons they promote. They are a special interest group with virtually zero accountability, Rwanda is just ONE example that they have alterior motives. There are humans in all walks of life that obey their consciences and the individual men and women of the Red Cross and those brave UN soldiers that stayed because it was the RIGHT thing to do are heroes.
@Prov358 The United Nations is controlled by the same people who are apart of globalization and the New World Order. They only get involved in conflicts that are directly of any interest to them. Just look at Libya. the UN and NATO sure as hell were quick to intervene in Libya, couldn't give a jack shit about whats going on in the Ivory coast where recently over 1000 people were massacred by rebel forces in the western city of Duekoue. I don't see these people setting up a No-fly zone there!
While you are all typing inane comments that will just further the circle of hate, remember the innocent people who died, just for a moment. Beneath race, where you live, if you are poor or rich, we all have something in common, we are human beings capable of loving eachother and moving on from a horrible past to peaceful coexistence.
Great job all powerful America. At least you have powerful bombs that can kill everyone on earth. You should be proud of your so powerful self. At least the Ghanian and Senegalese are brave. A superpower that's afraid to lose just 1 soldier. What a job. No wonder the world is moving toward China for directions.
@jubilee203 China is hardly the paragon of morals of values that anyone should look up to. China has a deplorable human rights record and no other country on earth has murded more of its own citizens than China has. 20 million dead in the Taiping rebellion and over 70 million killed under Mao zedong's communist regime.
How the hell is the UN called the United Nations when all the nations that consist of it are protecting their own goddamn interests. There is no unity. The sole purpose of the UN is to maintain the illusion of helping people to assuage the peoples of each respective country. Bunch of bureaucratic assholes.
Ok, I don't like where this just went. That international lawyer was correct in protecting freedom of speech. It's the UN and the military end who KNEW genocide was occurring, who sat back that are to blame. Not the hate speech on the radio. Deal with the violence, not the speech. I don't like the tone they took with that at all.
@anastasia81472 The lawyer was correct in protecting freedom of speech? A radio station that incited it's listeners to kill Tutsi's should be protected by "freedom of speech" laws? C'mon, do you really think those Hutu's would have been so bloodthirsty for Tutsi's if they hadn't been listening to that radio station? Face it, sometimes freedom laws should be restricted for the safety of others (of course one needs to be vigilant in case the government goes to far). The lawyer was wrong to argue.
@anastasia81472 Making terroristic threats is a totally separate issue from freedom of speech. That in itself is a crime in America, don't know about places like Rwanda. In America that sort of speech is sometimes protected though. I.e., the NEW Black Panther party telling the gentleman that he should be killing white babies. It's a fine line, really. It's an issue I'm very sensitive to since we now have a Supreme Court judge who flat out said she thinks we should control freedom of speech
I read Delairs book recently. The men and women who stayed in Rwanda dispite the horror of what was going on and the personal danger they faced at all times are heroes the rest of the UN should hang their heads in shame.
Its good thing that we have people like Delair and his team in the world or there would be nothing left.
When the twin towers fell Afganistan was invaded in almost no time.........yet.....when hundreds of thousands of people are dieing they take 3 montths. The U.N. is a failure and America needs to stop lieing
@nitasch Its a total utter failure of the U.N. and the nations themselves they should be ashamed. They talk about how lets never let the holocaust happen again and then they turn there backs on the nations of rhawanda. It happens all the time. In Kuwait bush got in got out and left Hussain in power. There are plenty of dictators still in power why we dont oust them is cause they probably have nuclear weapons. But these african countries have no such arms that i know of.
UN has no troops, so how could they send more? The western powers should be ashamed of themselves, not just presidents & prime ministers, but all persons of power in western governments. (examples--US - President, Senators, Representatives, SCOTUS, etc..,)
@nitasch the western nations should be ashamed because they had forces large enough inside of Rwanda within a day to stop the leaders of that genocide. Also, the withdrawal of troops & hamstringing of the UN occurred because the western nations was against it and lobbied against it. the western nations lead this effort, just like Darfur. Nothing has been learned!
@nitasch Also, there were third-world & poorer nations wanting to help. without logistical & other support from the richer - western nations, they could not. China and other "richer" nations also have a lot to be ashamed of.
@FrankieTO2 nice try faggot. why the fuck would i get jealous or want to live in the country that being hated around the world?? fucked up economy shit health care and dont know when some crazy muslim gonna blow my ass up. Tell me. America has caused more blood shed than all other nation combine. Guess what? u are the one that ended up paying for it in the end.
On May 31st, Capt. Mbaye was driving alone back to U.N. headquarters in Kigali when a random mortar shell, fired by the Rwandan Patriotic Front towards an extremist checkpoint, mistakenly landed next to his Jeep. He was killed instantly.
@Senka73 Capt. Mbaye, a devout Muslim, was one of nine children from a poor family on the outskirts of Dakar, Senegal's capital. He was the first in his family to go to college. After graduating from the University of Dakar, he joined the army and worked his way up through the ranks. After his death, he was buried in Senegal with full military honors. He was survived by a wife and two young children.
This Madeleine Albright is the worst scum on this Earth. A fucking evil witch acting only on USA best economic and geopolitical interest, regardless of justice, truth or peace.
Someone should kill her just as an example to other fiendish politicians like her.
Bill Clinton is the same.
They're both probably easy to assassinate too, now that they're out of office or some political function of importance.
Someone should make an example out of them - when you do evil, you should NEVER be safe, EVER!
@mickeypopa First off, Albright fought against the idea of staying out of it to begin with, as you could see from watching the rest of this special. Second, whether we should or shouldn't have intervened in Rwanda is an easy basic ethical question, but a very difficult world politics question. I personally think we were mistaken in not intervening, but I also think that people who boil it down to a base ethical issue and point fingers should NOT talk about such an issue.
First off, I watched the entire documentary before I made this comment.
Albright was conveniently "against" it when it wasn't up to her, so she knew she couldn't make a difference, but what it would do is make her look good in the eyes of the public. Her decisions later on in the Balkans, when it was up to her, tell a different story.
Second, for USA government, no question is ethical, because they have none.
So don't talk down on me about complexity of decisions, because if you think you know all about it, you obviously don't know shit about humanity and therefore YOU should NOT talk about such an issue.
But what am I saying....I should probably shut up, bow down and kiss ass to the White House, like you probably do.
@mickeypopa Yeah, because knowing everything about human rights gives you ultimate knowledge in international politics right? It's like I said earlier, personally, I believe that it WOULD have been much better, for Rwanda and us, had we intervened. However, to say that every politician in all of government is somehow automatically "evil" is ridiculous. I'm not saying you should "bow down and believe everything the government says", I'm saying you should think for yourself.
@mickeypopa First, however, you should look up every contributing factor to the nations involvements in Rwanda. Samantha Power wrote a very comprehensive article on the subject, that highlights the many mistakes made by all nations dealing with Rwanda. The world's not made up of black and white clear ethical and moral issues, it's full of grays and misunderstandings. Taking a good and evil mentality into world politics will never end well.
Regardless of the world being "gray", to which conclusion I came long time ago and agree with, and no matter how taking a good and evil mentality into anything (not just politics) indeed MAY not end well, taking interest mentality into everything (ESPECIALLY in politics) surely DOES NOT end well.
So you tell me now, since you consider yourself as one of the "gray", why are the Serbs evil and Muslims good in Bosnia and Kosovo, as USA is doing it's best to represent the matter as such?
@mickeypopa Once again, it's a doctrine or outlook on the world. Realists see the world as a zero sum game, and do only what's in their nations best interests. I agree that complete interest mentality is a bad thing, as are most "complete" mentalities. Realism, peppered with a bit of liberalism, is the way the US is primarily run, unfortunate as it may be. No super power who wanted to stay that way would be any different. That being said, Rwanda was a mistake. No question.
Not only that, but the USA has made a mistake after mistake ever since, and before.
They didn't learn from their mistakes, they kept on making them. They don't care about past, all they care is their prosperous economic future. And that's a bad way to do business. There can't be a future without history and past.
If that's what's USA realism is all about, then I'm sorry for American people. I really am.
Because one day they will suffer for their governments' mistakes.
@mickeypopa Every country makes plenty of mistakes, and few men learn from the teachings of history. But because of a bad apple or two, and circumstantial mistakes, you can't pin anything on the entire country like every single politician is conspiring to ruin lives. Realism is, to a point, a useful political outlook in helping ones country retain prosperity.I suppose what i'm trying to say is, point to me a country with perfect morals, and I will show you a failed nation.
You can't possibly in your right mind compare mistakes of other countries with mistakes of USA, which are very well known to influence...well almost every other country in world by now: Cuba, entire Central America, Europe, Middle East... Through USA influence are sanctions imposed on almost every country in the world. And now you're about to lecture me about relativity of one's country mistakes...give me a break. Anyway, I'm done here.
HAHAH dat explain why white people have killed practically everyrace from red indian, to africans to asian and aborigines.... White people evilness is there to be seen. name a race u didnt kill rape, inslaved? ur the devil
If you look throughout history you will see that the white man ( in this case the Belgians) are usually the cause of these crisis when they leave a former colony fragmented without even a minute plan for stablization.
As i always say in regards to this genocide; It's not America's fault nor any other country's. Sure they didn't help but they did not cause this. If you are looking for someone to blame why not try blaming the Hutus? aren't they the ones that are going about killing people?
Slightly more complicated than calling the Hutus bad. In 1972 there was a smaller scale genocide carried out by the Tutsis of the Hutus; also, bear in mind the Tutsis are a minority (less than 1/5) who have dominated government, civil service and military in Rwanda for years.
Point 2: "It's not America's fault?" Yup, sorry that's bullshit too. Enshrined in International Law there are specific guidelines in the case of genocide to which the US and most European countries have signed up to. It's true that they used words other than genocide like "atavism" or "tribalism" etc to negate their legal obligation to act. Now the US and Europe uses the term "genocide" quite freely, well fuck me asshole if that's not our fault I don't know what is.
The West is responsible. The RPA would have won sooner, and was beating the Rwandan Army before the French came to their Ally and stopped them, and when the RPA finally did take over and establish a new government, the West protected Hutu refugees, including war criminals, and defended them from RPA retaliation. Rwanda was then left alone to pick up the pieces. The UN has blood on its hands.
Not only did the UN/US/Western Nation not do anything, they did everything they could to AVOID doing anything. Efforts to bureaucratize any hope of intervention was nothing more than. Clinton at 8:36 speaks truly to the actual motivation behind all of the US' intervention throughout history; "the US's interests must be weighed". This is nothing short of an utter disgrace. Capitalism will always corrupt those who benefit from it at the expense of billions across the globe.
How do the corporations factor in? it's the voting masses, and the indifferences of the common citizen that make this happen. The party's greed for power makes them choose decisions that earns them votes from the masses, and America has always been touchy about casualties, especially after Somalia.
i know! i fully support the UN and what their global plans are, but this pathetic excuse for avoiding action defeats the entire purpose of why they were created, that of giving aid and support to countries that need it
@crazypartyman1 I agree with you that the UN should have done something but there sole purpose was to prevent another world war from happening that is why the UN was established.
@zmizrachi I totally agree with you and i feel that EVERYONE who knew what was happening and did nothing should be held accountable. If you see a man beating a child to death and you do nothing, does that mean you are not responsible?
@aqinthe This isn't a discussion of liberal against conservative, or Clinton versus Bush. This is about the UN's failure to take appropriate action to stop a genocide.
@zmizrachi You are right. I was just bringing up the fact that had Clinton been a Republician he would have been critized a lot more for not stopping the Rwanda Genocide. I totally agree that it was not a liberal vs conservative matter.
Dude, Koffi wasn't the UN Secretary General during the Genocide; he was the Head of UN Peacekeeping Operations so he was Dallaires superior and the one who made the decisions to delay any action. This was not an issue of the Security Council, this was an issue of a Peacekeeping Operation been undermined from above.
this was an issue of the security council because it is the body of the United Nations that determines issues of conflict, those of the ability to make war and impose sanctions so if there was any action of intervention it would come from the security council, kofi couldnt personally impose sanctions, it is mainly the members and importantly the permanent members of the security council
The Security Council makes the strategic decisions like sanctions or the deployment of Peacekeeping Forces, but the TACTICAL decisions were Koffi's, and Koffi's alone as Head of UN Peacekeeping Operations. It was those tactical decisions that bound General Dallaies' hands during the Genocide or at least the early part of it.
All countries are the same man. If China becomes the strongest country in the world, it wont be any different from the states or other super powers, they'll look out for their interests only, its politics, one big enterprise.
That's my point they're all black!!! KILL THE SMALL NOSE PEOPLE - yes that makes sense....stupidity doth reign. it was dumb to section themselves into big nose n small nose people in the first place. As if being lack wouldn't be hard enough. can I borrow a facepalm? I guess I could see y they were being ignored- STUPIDITY x a meeeellion. I still have compassion for the dead though; it's a sad story
Whats the common link between Hurricane Katrina and this tragedy in Rwanda? Poor Blacks needing help and not getting it from the American government...just excuses. USA gets rich from exploiting the continent of Africa and its people, but has no interest in helping blacks in the least- Just exploiting US. I do not hate white people or USA, but I am aware of who they are. Judge a man by his deeds, not his appearance. Remember President Bush's Moms comment about the victims of Katrina!
I don't understand how the Interahamwe were deterred by one unarmed UN soldier or a couple of aid workers, given how utterly brutal they were... Can anyone explain?
its especially their fault because if they said it was a genocide it meant that they had to use all the power they had to stop it. Rwanda is a small land locked country that had nothing to offer the super powers they were hoping on for protection and its that simple , they left because they could really care less . its unfortuanate but sadly it was the reality of Rwanda.
in the case of Rwanda, you would be killing your brother at gunpoint with a machete you didn't choose whether or not you got to kill him or not , the interahamwe decided that for you. And these people aren't blaming white people as a scapegoat its because IT WAS THEIR FAULT they turned away, the interahamwe knew people would leave if they killed the belgians and they knew the United States would leave because they dont want another Mogadishu. please dont comment until you open a book.
I don't know what you are saying. you think africans don't love each other? you are a damn kid, no disrespect. you forgot that the first Genocide was done by white people killing other white people. you need to learn some history. How many white people are being killed by other white people in northern Ireland by the IRA. As a soldier, delaire did nothing heroic as a bystander.
What about whites that kill whites? What about the entirety of the middle east? I think the question you should be asking is "Why do people decided to kill people?" We're all brothers and sisters, and we all have the capacity to love one another so why do we choose hate.
those hutus were cold hearted killers. as I watch these videos the more mad I get. I learned only one lesson: African need to love one another, be aware that westerner do not like us we need know no one is outhere for our rescues. let this be a lesson
UN General said he was not talking with humans but with evil...Bob said it..we don't fight flesh and blood but spiritual wickedness in high and low places...
4And there went out another horse that was red: and power was given to him that sat thereon to take peace from the earth, and that they should kill one another: and there was given unto him a great sword.
..And I looked, and behold a pale horse: and his name that sat on him was Death, and Hell followed with him. And power was given unto them over the fourth part of the earth, to kill with sword, and with hunger, and with death, and with the beasts of the earth.
Once Again Fuck Albright! The Shit was Being Broadcast all over the Western World every night on the nightly news! She's Lying when she says she didn't know!
Does`nt it really fuck with us as decent people. I was in Kigali during this--in hiding with 9 Tutsi`s protecting them. I am American and white---I refused to leave.
What I witnessed makes me view America as stupid---911 Would not have a happened had the USA stopped this.
hmmm...around 5:20 or so, they're blabbing about a word's definition, while people are being slaughtered...they spent more energy on a word than they did on trying to help this country...shame...absolutely disgusting...everyone left these beautiful, innocent people to die for no other reason than what tribe they're from...I'm american, and I don't even know what country(ies) in Africa my family comes from, so ALL of Africa are my people. My people suffer from their own hands & the hands of others
The UN is almost useless. It should be dissolved. It cannot stop wars or even prevent them. It's health organization is very bad. It is a worthless beaurocracy.
The UN agencies have saves millions of lives through their vaccination campaigns, food and shelter distributions to refugees. It has prevented the spread of bird flu and slowed down AIDS.
Never forget the UN has no power except the one given by its member states.
And if you really think the world would be a safer place without the UN you are just an idiot of the worst kind.
let's cut through all the pollitical correctness BS! Call it racism or what, but jews were caucasian, genocide in Asia, Africa, etc. happened to non-caucasian. You have the tendency to look after your "own", and those that give you incentive. The west does not have the obligation to help Africa and vice versa. How do you help those who refuse to help themselves? For those blaming others, what have YOU done to help? Have you enlisted in peace corps, UN, legion entrangere? send money to 3rd world?
If global warming and radioactive contamination threaten the whole world, do we say, "wait a miute, that's XYZ nation's problem." No. Because it's everybody's problem. There is no such thing as country XYZ, and race XYZ, there is only right and wrong.
apples and oranges. "threatened the whole world" and "xyz nation's problem."US has no friends, it has interests. Million africans dying did not affect the US and its public perception. One or two dead US soldiers did. Once again, you'd rather help your own 1st. Not pointing out what to do, but merely the reality of human nature, and right or wrong is based on a belief. If one belives in "love thy neighbor," then this is wrong. Ever wonder why the Saudis never send humanitarian aid missions?
How can you be so cruel kramotakra. All it would have taken was a couple thousand troops from whereever. Are you telling me there wasn't a single country in the world that could donate these troops. This could have been done by the US. The fucking Hutus were fighting with MACHETES. They could have easily been stopped. Give me a break, man.

How can I ever have respect for a president who does not respect the Constitution of the United States.
LordMalice6d9 10 months ago
@LordMalice6d9 Im sorry but have you been asleep during bush's reign. this is a pres who has cancelled all prior flights to switzerland becuase he is being charged for war crimes. He did not ask for congressional approval, and obama doesnt even have ground troops in libya. On top that Obama has thwarted the forecoming genocide of libyan civilians. No, no lfy zone was established during Rawanda. I think he's done a great job.
UtopiaMinor666 10 months ago
@UtopiaMinor666 Yes but theres one problem with that, many of the Libyan rebels are terrorists and are part of Al' Queda.
LordMalice6d9 10 months ago
@LordMalice6d9 that is a true statement. I am for his thwarting of the genocide though, becuase even if it were rebels he is protected (including Al' Queda rebels) he has help save innocents civilians as well.

Prov358 11 months ago
@Prov358 The United Nations is controlled by the same people who are apart of globalization and the New World Order. They only get involved in conflicts that are directly of any interest to them. Just look at Libya. the UN and NATO sure as hell were quick to intervene in Libya, couldn't give a jack shit about whats going on in the Ivory coast where recently over 1000 people were massacred by rebel forces in the western city of Duekoue. I don't see these people setting up a No-fly zone there!

Ok, I don't like where this just went. That international lawyer was correct in protecting freedom of speech. It's the UN and the military end who KNEW genocide was occurring, who sat back that are to blame. Not the hate speech on the radio. Deal with the violence, not the speech. I don't like the tone they took with that at all.
anastasia81472 1 year ago
@anastasia81472 The lawyer was correct in protecting freedom of speech? A radio station that incited it's listeners to kill Tutsi's should be protected by "freedom of speech" laws? C'mon, do you really think those Hutu's would have been so bloodthirsty for Tutsi's if they hadn't been listening to that radio station? Face it, sometimes freedom laws should be restricted for the safety of others (of course one needs to be vigilant in case the government goes to far). The lawyer was wrong to argue.
Sharky345 1 year ago
@anastasia81472 Making terroristic threats is a totally separate issue from freedom of speech. That in itself is a crime in America, don't know about places like Rwanda. In America that sort of speech is sometimes protected though. I.e., the NEW Black Panther party telling the gentleman that he should be killing white babies. It's a fine line, really. It's an issue I'm very sensitive to since we now have a Supreme Court judge who flat out said she thinks we should control freedom of speech
anastasia81472 1 year ago
I read Delairs book recently. The men and women who stayed in Rwanda dispite the horror of what was going on and the personal danger they faced at all times are heroes the rest of the UN should hang their heads in shame.
Its good thing that we have people like Delair and his team in the world or there would be nothing left.

@nitasch the western nations should be ashamed because they had forces large enough inside of Rwanda within a day to stop the leaders of that genocide. @Senka73 Capt. Mbaye, a devout Muslim, was one of nine children from a poor family on the outskirts of Dakar, Senegal's capital. He was the first in his family to go to college.

Someone should make an example out of them - when you do evil, you should NEVER be safe, EVER!
mickeypopa 1 year ago
@mickeypopa First off, Albright fought against the idea of staying out of it to begin with, as you could see from watching the rest of this special. Second, whether we should or shouldn't have intervened in Rwanda is an easy basic ethical question, but a very difficult world politics question. I personally think we were mistaken in not intervening, but I also think that people who boil it down to a base ethical issue and point fingers should NOT talk about such an issue.
Gh0stXer0 1 year ago
@Gh0stXer0
It's all about interest.
mickeypopa 1 year ago
@Gh0stXer0
So don't talk down on me about complexity of decisions, because if you think you know all about it, you obviously don't know shit about humanity and therefore YOU should NOT talk about such an issue.
But what am I saying....I should probably shut up, bow down and kiss ass to the White House, like you probably do.
mickeypopa 1 year ago
@mickeypopa Yeah, because knowing everything about human rights gives you ultimate knowledge in international politics right? It's like I said earlier, personally, I believe that it WOULD have been much better, for Rwanda and us, had we intervened. However, to say that every politician in all of government is somehow automatically "evil" is ridiculous. I'm not saying you should "bow down and believe everything the government says", I'm saying you should think for yourself.
Gh0stXer0 1 year ago
@mickeypopa First, however, you should look up every contributing factor to the nations involvements in Rwanda. Samantha Power wrote a very comprehensive article on the subject, that highlights the many mistakes made by all nations dealing with Rwanda. The world's not made up of black and white clear ethical and moral issues, it's full of grays and misunderstandings. Taking a good and evil mentality into world politics will never end well.
Gh0stXer0 1 year ago
@Gh0stXer0
Regardless of the world being "gray", to which conclusion I came long time ago and agree with, and no matter how taking a good and evil mentality into anything (not just politics) indeed MAY not end well, taking interest mentality into everything (ESPECIALLY in politics) surely DOES NOT end well.
So you tell me now, since you consider yourself as one of the "gray", why are the Serbs evil and Muslims good in Bosnia and Kosovo, as USA is doing it's best to represent the matter as such?
mickeypopa 1 year ago
@mickeypopa Once again, it's a doctrine or outlook on the world. Realists see the world as a zero sum game, and do only what's in their nations best interests. I agree that complete interest mentality is a bad thing, as are most "complete" mentalities. Realism, peppered with a bit of liberalism, is the way the US is primarily run, unfortunate as it may be. No super power who wanted to stay that way would be any different. That being said, Rwanda was a mistake. No question.
Gh0stXer0 1 year ago
@ Gh0stXer0
Not only that, but the USA has made a mistake after mistake ever since, and before.
They didn't learn from their mistakes, they kept on making them. They don't care about past, all they care is their prosperous economic future. And that's a bad way to do business. There can't be a future without history and past.
If that's what's USA realism is all about, then I'm sorry for American people. I really am.
Because one day they will suffer for their governments' mistakes.
mickeypopa 1 year ago
@mickeypopa Every country makes plenty of mistakes, and few men learn from the teachings of history. But because of a bad apple or two, and circumstantial mistakes, you can't pin anything on the entire country like every single politician is conspiring to ruin lives. Realism is, to a point, a useful political outlook in helping ones country retain prosperity.I suppose what i'm trying to say is, point to me a country with perfect morals, and I will show you a failed nation.
Gh0stXer0 1 year ago
@Gh0stXer0
Come on man, let's get real here, shall we?
You can't possibly in your right mind compare mistakes of other countries with mistakes of USA, which are very well known to influence...well almost every other country in world by now: Cuba, entire Central America, Europe, Middle East... Through USA influence are sanctions imposed on almost every country in the world. And now you're about to lecture me about relativity of one's country mistakes...give me a break. Anyway, I'm done here.

As i always say in regards to this genocide; It's not America's fault nor any other country's. Sure they didn't help but they did not cause this. If you are looking for someone to blame why not try blaming the Hutus? aren't they the ones that are going about killing people?
Medusa0999 2 years ago 2
Slightly more complicated than calling the Hutus bad. In 1972 there was a smaller scale genocide carried out by the Tutsis of the Hutus; also, bear in mind the Tutsis are a minority (less than 1/5) who have dominated government, civil service and military in Rwanda for years.
Alceste1977 2 years ago 2

The UN has blood on its hands.
warpedcomedy 2 years ago 2

DelValle1980 2 years ago 2
lol Koffi? the real power lies with the Security Council, 5 permanent members?
LUVFAMILIA 2 years ago
Dude, Koffi wasn't the UN Secretary General during the Genocide; he was the Head of UN Peacekeeping Operations so he was Dallaires superior and the one who made the decisions to delay any action. This was not an issue of the Security Council, this was an issue of a Peacekeeping Operation been undermined from above.
DelValle1980 2 years ago
this was an issue of the security council because it is the body of the United Nations that determines issues of conflict, those of the ability to make war and impose sanctions so if there was any action of intervention it would come from the security council, kofi couldnt personally impose sanctions, it is mainly the members and importantly the permanent members of the security council
LUVFAMILIA 2 years ago
The Security Council makes the strategic decisions like sanctions or the deployment of Peacekeeping Forces, but the TACTICAL decisions were Koffi's, and Koffi's alone as Head of UN Peacekeeping Operations. It was those tactical decisions that bound General Dallaies' hands during the Genocide or at least the early part of it.
