  • Do oilrigs sway like boats and make you seasick?

  • Boyinaband...

  • how to get a job...i ll do your laundry and clean your place hehehe God bless

  • i am searching a job as a roustabout i have BOSIET certificate and i am ready to go every where even for verry litle wages

  • the big white ball is the sat nav system

  • x levitation -absolute last

  • i would love to work on an oil rig can you tell me what i need? or could i get a job stright away with no exsprince ?

  • Song = Absolute Last - Leviation Cult

  • I keep playing this over and over just to hear the song.

  • JoeTunmer: the white ball appears to be a dome for the satellite dish. either for sat comms or VSAT service.

  • Nice Show

  • obviouslyly an intrinsically safe video camera :-)

  • Could someone tell me what the technical name for the big white ball that appears at 01:15 is? Also, is it at all possible to access an oil rig via submarine or some kind of vehicle that goes down to the ocean floor?

  • @JoeTunmer

lol, nobody gets on oil rigs via submarines, thats crazy. The big white ball think is most likely a weather radar.

  • I start working on the rigs in 2 weeks as a mud logger, I hope it doesnt suck ass and I can sleep.

  • @TheHolyMongolEmpire whats a mud logger do ?

  • @ps2peter

Tons of shit, looks after the gas amounts coming out of the well, looks at the rock cuttings coming up from the drill pipe, describes them; is in charge of looking after the RPMs of the drill, watches well resistivity, etc. Basically, the mud logger is the first person who sees whether or not the well is producing gas or oil at a certain point in time. Its really boring and sucks, dont do it. Find a job on land somewhere.

  • I see you probably work on rigs and I was just curious how hard is it to get into a rig job and what kinda work is it I am 15 and considering rigs as a job when i get outta highschool

  • @808moparskate I'm not an expert but it usually seems to be a case of who you know, not what you know. Having contacts on the inside certainly helps. But also don't undermine qualifications.

Maybe try doing further research on the net?

    Good luck :D

  • A great shame you made a music video of it and not something that could have been enlightening with the appropriate commentary. Good camera work though.

  • wat the title of this song??????????

  • As a courtesy to you, I wanted to let you know I’ve included this video on our YouTube Channel: Mining Oil and Gas Jobs.

If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact me. We’re always looking for good content and thought this video was a good addition.

  • @Miningoilandgasjobs

    Thanks for the courtesy!

  • @bstansbu could you tell me what step 1 is to getting on a rig? do i get a twic card first? im confused

  • @666alilthrowedoff666

No, you get a job first, then a TWIC card. Go to rigzone.com and apply for shit on there. Do you have a college degree? If not, you can be a roughneck or deck hand who cleans shit up and carries tools and pipe around or a sample catcher, which sucks. If you have a college degree you can start out doing mudlogging or do MWD stuff.

  • @TheHolyMongolEmpire o ok.thanks

  • @TheHolyMongolEmpire Hey Everybody rigzone.com is a scam they want your money before they help you look at the bottom of the page of rigzone.com $59.75 and what if the peoples don't have money at all and peoples want to work

  • @Miningoilandgasjobs question; is there mobile phone reception on offshore rigs?

  • how do you get on an offshore rig?

  • @nutuporshutup6901 Do a helicopter survival course first. Dpesnt come cheap... Then pester the oil companies till you get a job

  • @nutuporshutup6901

    helicopter or boat. lulz

  • @bstansbu no i meanhow do you get a job on one because i work on a drilling rig in ks but really wanna get on an offshore rig really bad

  • it is not too bad when you get a few weeks off

  • Great video!

  • i work on a tow boat and i could not imagine trying to go to sleep on one of these damn things... i hope the lowest paid guy out there is making at least 65,000 a year

  • Welders offshore make really good salaries. Check out the videos : offshore welders, channel of moseseseseses

  • COMBAT ARMS :D

  • @fabio3573 Hahaha I love that map

  • How do you start a career in this field?

  • @HaZeMySt all about who you know, ive been lined up for a job on the rigs, my dads friend is a consultant on the rigs, guaranteed me a job, all about who you know not what you know, hard to get in to without contacts

  • @HaZeMySt

Some people get started with degrees in engineering or geology or something similar, but GOUBO1994 is right, it's all about contacts.

  • @degree7 So I could get a job because my brother is an MWD engineer??

  • @KaosProductions11

I'm not an expert in the field, but possibly, yes, you could.

My dad got a job as a mud logger in a similar way back in the 70s. Through a friend who told him about a company.

  • @KaosProductions11

But again, don't take my word for it, I don't work in the industry.

  • what is the song called

  • I dont get why people think oil rigging is suicide, can anyone explain that to me?

  • After 45 years i'm now winding my pet chem workload down. I got a grounding as a labourer first on pipelines, got into welding, became a diver and a bomber. I've built rigs and platforms in yards, worked on the seafastenings, grafted offshore when they were being located, modified, extended and just when they were in production. I've been offshore in 120 mph winds and got locked into the accommodation for 4 days and worked offshore for 9 months straight doing 18 hour days and loved every minute.

  • How Do you get a job on a rig and what schooling do you need?

  • can't wait to start my new life on the rigs

  • I hope he had a permit for the camera on the drillfloor

  • @brocherboy08

    but of course

  • I am looking for a job in the oil rig for the past 3 years and still nobody hirin me

  • Van Halen, lol. Its X Levitation Cult - Absolute last

  • @kidcapri009

Yep. It was Van Halen until BMG records contacted me and said to remove their song. Now I have no way of removing the Van Halen tag.

  • @bstansbu Yea these record companies are getting desperate.

  • @bstansbu

I know. I even wrote back to BMG records saying are you serious? I told them with coming up a near half million views this is free publicity for Van Halen. It is not like people are really buying CDs of Van Halen now a days, but with the song I had on originally, I got tons of comments about them. Oh well, I Digress.

  • can you help me with research - is there a title called a head engineer on an oil rig? If not could you give me a few titles please, much appreciated.

  • @debraange

Not that I know of. Some titles would be Drilling Engineer,Well Site Leader, Tool Pusher, Driller, Roustabout, Floorman, Mud Engineer, etc.

  • @bstansbu thank you so much

  • @debraange

    I'd suggest Drilling Supervisor

  • @arrewoud thank you funnily enough i used that title in my script.

  • Wow this is my dream job, can you speak to your bosses? I'd do this for free I just want to work on one :)

  • @Peteioz alot of oil workers gets sick from exposure to solvants and mercury to name a few of the hazards.

  • I need to know this song, does anyone know it?

  • Comment removed

  • cool cyber chair drilling ops... ^^ with one roughneck... 6th generation drilling..^^

  • My boyfriend's doing this with a Texas-based company. It kills me that he's gone for 2 weeks at a time - really, really hard to deal with. He tries to describe what it's like there, but the security disallows pics or vids. This video made me understand a little more what he deals with every day. :-(

  • My brother-in-law moved to texas to work oil rigs, he had no experience AT ALL and his starting pay was $23 Hr.

  • @chainlinkdreams Is he still doing it?

  • @tawras I'm surprised but yes, he has stuck it out, he's in Odessa.

  • Could you please tell me who sings this great song? A friend of mine is on an oil rig at the moment and it is our song :o)

  • Hi guys

What is the qualification to become a rig manager. What do I need to study specifically. Is there any certificate course to become one. I have 25 years experience in land and building management. What is the pay per month i can expect.

Please reply by email at gazzali_i@yahoo.com

I had with outside life :)

  • hi i'm doing some research-can you tell me how long you work on a rig shifts and when you go home- vice-versa.

  • @debraange

Some people work 14 days on 14 off. The others work 28 days on and 28 days off. usually work 12 hour shifts. Travel days to and from work count as your days off.

  • At times during strong storms, did it ever feel like it was going to topple over?

  • ohhhhh ok lol

  • I don't think I'd have the balls to work on a rig because in the eventuality of a problem you can either burn or drown :-/

  • @daporkchopexpress

or get in a life boat and sail away.

  • Trying to get me some work on an oil rig, seems like somthing you gotta have balls to do and a real mans job. Hopefully I can get a shot.

  • for the tree hugging winers quit driving dont write on paper have your power turned off in your home especially dont heat or cool your house/ then tell how the planet is dieing almost every thing thats good has bad consequences

  • WE SHOULD STOP KILLING OUR PLANET SLOWLY

  • and the ironic part is we dont need it, but greedy maffioso companies do. Who know drilling oil creates most of the earthquakes. Any science ppl here? :)

  • humans keep on diggin for oil. i dont have any knowlegde about it, but if we keep going on like this it might be catastrofal? Maybe the planet needs the oil? If you would suck out all the juice from an orange it will be...? comments pls

  • I worked on the shah denz ANTS"Askerova"))

  • How do you go about apllying to get work on the rigs?

  • @Adamb123abc mate you have to take a number and get in line, or know someone who knows somwone in the game already. it is the same in mining in australia. to get the best high paying jobs, you have to knwo someone.

People who do get a job through applying for positions are just plain lucky

  • how much do you make an hour?

  • How do you reach oil rigs? By helicopter or boat?

  • Benijiggs haha

  • Yer every one gets punched in the face once a day lol

  • How do you get a job on the oil rigs, would love to do it! I'm based in england

  • @denwo1982 Do a petroleum engineering course, thats what I'm going to do, or become a pole stacker, check the websites of the oil and gas operators.

  • what happen when a hurricane comes?

  • @worthyman54

Usually lots of wind and rain.

  • @bstansbu I KNOW THat but will it hurt the oil rig and is anyone still on the rig while there is a hurricane in progress?

  • @worthyman54

i was just messing with you. If a hurricane comes, the rigs usually get evacuated. There is plenty of time since it can take up to 3-4 days for the hurricane get there. Now, where this rig is, there are no hurricanes ever. Its not possible.

  • does bullying happen on the oil rigs

  • @denwo1982

Not really. Maybe back in the old days.

  • @denwo1982 well you gotta expect to get harassed by the guys anywhere you work..that is if you got a mans job

  • My father is a oil rig captain, I'm very proud of him.

  • don't think i would like a job out there in the middle of nowhere.

  • @worthyman54

    it is not for everyone

  • @worthyman54 what are you affraid of? sharks? pussy

  • @ArBiTeR0000Tactical hey i am afraid of sharks.

  • Nice vid. I am involved in the offshore oil and gas industry .. only an oil man like ourselves can really appreciate vids like these! Be safe and post more when you can!

  • You guys do good work. You're just like the rest of us trying to make a dollar. Terrible tragedies with some spills. I'm concerned, but don't hold you fellas personally responsible. You put your lives on the line to deliver valued product. I'm riding the fence between environmentalism, but understand the current need for oil and to keep good people like yourselves in work. Don't know if it means anything, but you're ok in my book.

  • @mmusslman

    Thanks man! Means a lot.

  • @mmusslman i feel the same..i am against oil consumption but realize that we do need it right now and the people actually drilling for them are just doin their jobs

  • @mmusslman dont be an environmentalist. they're idiots !!!!!

  • @TheEgg185 No you are for saying that.

  • Nice rig!

  • Looks like a sad life for white folks.

  • I'm curious, what's the power plant for an oil rig? How's that work?

  • Why orange clothes? Oh wait, to keep the hunters from shooting you, gotcha ya!

  • @AGgirldoll

Visibiltiy. Safety factor. You have to be in the industry to understand it I suppose. No hunters out there.

  • @bstansbu Dude it was a joke.

  • @AGgirldoll

    as was my reply lol

  • Thanks, Ben. I had no idea about life on an offshore rig, and never thought much about it until this horrible mess in our beautiful Gulf. Now I'm wondering if you guys are out there for a week at a time or a month at a time...

I wish you'd narrated! Thanks again.

  • Thanks very much, Ben. I'd never thought much about life on an oil rig, and certainly had no concept of it's size, living quarters, or anything else. Now I wonder how long you're out there before taking a break, or if it's a shift like firemen have. More searching to do. I wish you'd narrated! Thanks again, ~ pam

  • @Monst3rProductionz
