Your right on the socialization - Khan was wonderful with pretty much everyone because I took him to puppy classes and walked him everywhere as a baby. People he didn't trust always made me careful - he had good judgement!!!

A gang of any kind of bigger live stock guarding dogs will help a lot against most predators. COmbined with some fencing they rock in guarding.

Also against 2-legged unwanted guests.;p
