You should read what Iranian first means. Kurds, Persians, Afghans etc... are Iranian just like Russians, Polish, Serbs are Slavic, or English,German(from Germany), Swedish and Norwegian are German or Kazakh, Azeri, Turks(from Turkey) are Turkic. Saying that Iranian is equal only to Persian is wrong, cause every Persian is Iranian, but not every Iranian is Persian. Thosse pictures were imposed by different regimes and nations to divide the people of common ancestry and culture.

Iranian denotes the greater group, not ones ethnicity, but the simmilarities between ethnicities. In old time of Achamenids many simmilar nations lived there Medes, Parsi, Arians, Arachosians, Scythians, Sarmatians but they all knew that beside their specific customs and traditions they still share simmilar languages and origins, they were aware they are Iranians.
