As long as the genders of Kirby characters are part of the discussion, I'll throw in my theory:

Ado and Adeleine are both girls because they are the SAME PERSON. It's not the first time Nintendo has done last minute name-changes, like with Earthbound's Giegue and Giygas. And some are just plain genderless like NiGHTS.

Remember, Nintendo logic =/= conventional logic.

Giegue (Earhbound Zero) to Giygas (Earthbound) is only from the American translation. In Japan, it's always been one name (phonetically pronounced and romanized as"Gigu").

No. Adoreenu = Japanized phonetic version of Adeleine. Pretty sure the official spelling is Adeleine just like Kaabi is just Kirby in Japanese phonics.

As for Ado = Adeleine or not. We will never know. It's been over 10 years since either have been in a game. I'll personally still believe Ado and Adeleine are 2 different characters and of different genders.

1. In the intro, she looked like she was wearing makeup

2. After freeing her from possession, she will sometimes paint things I would NEVER see a boy draw.

3. In the 100% credits, she looked like she added a bit more... detail to her own picture, and she really looked like a girl in it.

I'm pretty sure that Ado (even if she's not Adeleine) is a girl. If you notice in this picture and in the credits she's wearing what looks like a grey dress under her smock. Also, I know there are many male Japanese characters that look girly, but the heart she draws next to herself in the credits picture would be a bit much for any boy.

The hearts on his wings were a feature of his design as a character. Many male characters have hearts as part of their design. But the pic of Ado in the credits is a self-portrait. And, even for effeminate boys, it is very uncommon for any little boy to draw little hearts on pics of themselves. Not to stereotype, but it's much more common for a girl to do.
