I respect talent and creative means of filling a niche, which Babe Ruth may have done but, to claim Jenny Haan as the best female rock vocal is, in my opinion, unwarranted given talent such as the Wilson sisters of Heart. Jenny cannot hold a candle to Ann Wilson when it comes to rock vocals. The proof is in longevity...Heart is still blowing crowds away!!!!
wow! I never saw them, but I wish. It just rocks!!! What a show!!! I also love the song "Black Dog"; Jenny's voice is so deep and powerful... the album "First Base" is a masterpiece of his kind. Thanks, thats a home run in deep right field!!
One of the best cult bands from the early 70's. Saw them several times at a lock rock club in Halifax (UK). Also saw them at Leeds University. Jenny singing "give me some leg" was a sight to behold. But "Black Dog" was always my favourite song. Jesse Winchesters original was quite haunting, but Babe Ruth lifted it to new heights. Still have their first two albums on vynyl, as well as CD. Still listening to their music 40 years on. Rock on Janita......we still love you.
@spareaxe are you kidding me they are fuckin worshipped by bboys (for some reason). You're an ignorant troll, and this video kicks harder then an expert thai kickboxer.
I just saw them in mont-tremblant(montreal) a couple of weeks ago, and they sounded fantastic!!!!
Of course they aged (like the rest of us) so visually they are not recognizable, but trust me, they hav'ent lost any musical ability, if anything I would say they are even better!
i was lucky enough to see them at Place des Nations in Montreal in 1974
ya the seventies so memories are vague eh.. I can not believe that tonight July 10th after all these years i will see them again..Jenny is the sexiest performer and singer i have ever seen...she puts her heart and soul into the show..absolutely mesmerizing ..oh ya lets not forget the band behind her Lucky Guys..My vote for best debut album of all time...Hey Jenny look for me tonight. PLEASE.....
@crimsoniter I forgot to mention...I bugged the band about re-releasing the 1974 Live in Montreal video, and I'm sure Jenny told me that the Montreal show you're going to may be filmed!!!!! Hope I heard right, because I'll buy a dvd of this show!
Just back from seeing the band in Ottawa, first stop on the reunion tour! Future ticket-holders are in for a treat! The band came out after and signed my tour shirt and Que pasa cd....they were in high spirits and very cordial with fans (a long line up!!!), including letting people take pictures!!!
I got my ticket to see them live in Montreal on July 10th. It will be a night to remember considering the influence the album First Base left on me. Stealing Home was also a very decent album although the vibe was different.
Music sure was different compared to what it is today. I'm glad I got to live that phase as you can quickly get lost with today's music. Thankfully Babe Ruth along with many other groups from that era left a footprint on some of today's bands.
@Borvus1 yep, and I'll be there !!! just wondering if she still has the voice. . (that album, I went through 2 records and even one 8 track)...that was music !!1
@Borvus1 yep and I'll be there !! what an awsome album that was (went through two records and even one 8 track of First Base) that's what music is about..
Just had to comment..I was fortunate to see Babe Ruth perform in Milwaukee at the Oriental Theater in the mid 70's. They were the back up band for some more famous group I don't even remember. Once you see this group, you would forget too. Janita was dancing and doing flips on stage. Their music was hard and real. Energy raw. We were so blown away, we ran to Dirty Jack's Record Rack to buy the album. I still have mine and play it often, especially for people who never heard of Babe Ruth
LOL! Never thought I'd see the day when Dirty Jack's was remembered. I worked at Dirty Jack's for most of my misspent youth. 1974-1982..loved every minute of it. Oh yeah - nice video!
Every Sunday we would go to the Sight at at the lake front for the music, then would go to Brady and Farwell to 1812 Overture and Dirty Jack's and buy records, etc. plus a stop at Cousin's. Remember Teddy's on Farwell? Spent a lot of time on the east side in those years.... It was a great time!!
I was lucky to see BR at Edmonton Sundown London Dec 1973 supporting The Who. i was right at the front. Great band. Janita Haan was beautiful and had a great voice. They were on the Whistle Test earlier in the year doing Black Dog Wonder if that footage survives
I've HAD the great pleasure of being in Montreal in the mid '70's. And I went to their concert in '74 with a friend. I'll tell yah, MAN.....WHAT A PERFORMANCE ! !
Jenny Haan was certainly one of the best female rock singers of the 70's, and Babe Ruth were one of my alltime favourites. Their new album "Que Pasa" is great!
WOW!!!!! I was so familiar with the song since I was teenager and only NOW i have a chance to see the video!!! This is FABULOUS!!! Janita Jenny Haan is truly a great singer!
Of couse I have never got a chance to attend on one of Babe Ruth's gigs because I live in "rest of the world" country (Indonesia) ...so I never got a luxury to see rock gigs during my teenager (and now I am 48).
Well actually I searched "The Duchess of Orleans" by Babe Ruth also but I find this video. Great!!!!
exquisita banda y la vocalista que decir, me deja flipado, gracias por este documento que muestra o mas bien demuestra que con seguridad el mejor rock lo encontramos en esos años
that is what i call preformer on stage and not the crap we see this days ... she just throw her soul on that stage right there in frond of everybody without any hasitation ...sorry for my bad english.
Jenni was absolutely stunning!A great performer. She had a set of pipes that could rival those of her male peers;Gillian,Plant and Mercury, yet she could dance and had the elegance of a ballerina.
Bought Jenny a Vodka and Orange in 1977 at the Centre Hotel in Portsmouth. I was p***ed!
Playing with Lion, cracking gig, cracking voice and forgot what a babe (no pun intended) she was. Money well spent on the drink I think. The live version is certainly better than my scratched vinyl copy!
Why does she always seem to be giving the keyboard dude a head job in the special effects overlay? Minute 5:42 and then some...

wow I never even heard of this band the chick singer is sexy too. they sure tried
to push Heart as female rockers back then and then Pat Benatar. They must
have had lousy management because i cant understand why they did'nt
at least become slightly known in the united states. and I grew up in northern
california and they could have appealed to the fans of Grace Slick and Jefferson Airplane. ?
