The events that you described that probably was the reason why EL was behaving the way he was makes a lot of sense. How come he just started singing with out music until they set up the equipment? He could've played it off by having the crowd clap along, or sing along with him. I do hope that was the reason for his strange behaivor. I wish El continue to move forward and don't get mixed up with the wrong crowd. He was here in Ohio couple weeks ago. I heard the show was good. LuvAlwaz
@ninicutiepie08 No doubt those clowns (promoters) are garbage and I hope that NO artist will ever deal with them PERIOD!! I'm not sure if you attended the show, but most of the seats were empty, the entire top section was empty. The doors were opened late (unusual). Just the entire flow of the show was crap before El hit the stage and they knew it.
Even though the promoters where being unprofessional El agreed to do a song because he didn’t want to disappoint his fans. When he went on stage to sing none of the four microphones that Blackstreet were using worked when El tried to use them (but worked for BLACKstreet just fine). The promoters just wanted El to make a stage appearance so that audience members wouldn’t ask for a refund. This was NOT at all El DeBarges fault.
El pleaded for the promoters to put up his equipment so he could perform. Instead the wanted him to go on stage and lip sing over his track. He didn’t want to do that. When he got on stage he was trying to stall so that his band could be set up. The promoters started playing his track and when he wouldn’t lip sing the escorted him off stage. El went back to the dressing room and the promoters asked if he would sing a song with Blackstreet
The promoters of this concert were very unprofessional. El Debarge was running a little late & the promoters agreed to work with him; El even opted to have money deducted from his artist fee. The promoters had stricken the band & had taken down all El’s equipment for his performance. They pretended like they would work with him over the phone before he got there only to find out that they had took down his equipment & put up Blackstreets before he even got there... @ninicutiepie08 El was supposed to have a band? The only equipment that I seen set up was his keyboard, chair and mic. Now if he had a full band like Faith and Blackstreet, his band's equipment wasn't set up at all, well at least while I waas in my seat (I was in the arena before the show started and didn't leave my seat). So that leaves me to believe that those jiggas were dogging out El prior to the show getting started.
I agree. I said that too in my email. How dare they insult us after WE paid our money for something. If I go to Red Lobster and order a shrimp dinner, I expect to get all that was described on the damn plate. They expect to get their money. That's how it works. I didn't pay for them to see them bring their crew on stage for some presentation or listen to them talk 20 mins after every performer. The sound was HORRIBLE and they are crooks. They should have never let him on stage like that!
@msjb00gie Those arrogant fools unfortunately won't write back, but I hope they do with a sincere apology. But we do have to keep in mind that the host told us paying audience members that we should appreciate them for bring all those celebrities out here in the I.E. to perform for us and we were getting a $200 to $300 quality show for a little of nothing. I spent $69 for the tix and another $4 for the facility fee $73 total, that's about 2 hours of my hard earned money that I wasted on foolery.
