  • hey i want to sleev may pc cabels. can you give me links to the tools and the sleevs you use. ore atleast the name:)

  • @4lla4 Please PM me...thanks

  • @WestCoastMods Done :)

  • @WestCoastMods Can I pm you for the same question?

  • @Doomshine72 YES!

  • Good stuff but the clock is no go, please.

  • is this it? that's all there is to sleeving? all I've heard is how damn long time it takes and how hard it is... this doesn't look hard! I'm so gonna do this myself! =)

  • @whiteynator Sleeving a fan is easy..single sleeving a PSU is labor intense.....and trying to get the pins out and get the heatshrink all the same length will give you a massive headache...normally more than 1 ....lol

so have some aspirin handy..you will need them

  • @WestCoastMods I see. I will still give it a go, so thanks for the vid =) and I'll get some aspirin aswell ;)

  • do you twist the cables or did it come like that ? and would it be a good idea to twist the fan cables if they came straight ?

  • @0lethalghost0 No they came like that, but it really doesn't make a difference.

  • Comment removed

  • I wish I had the stuff you had.. I'm into building hardcore PCs for gaming.. But never been into modding, I'd like to but to seems complected and I can't really buy the stuff I need. . .

  • @MindSeeR666 Thanks bro.....you can start off with very little and then add more tools, equipment, ect as time goes on. It took me a while to acquire everything...

  • what do you recommend the size for both the sleeves and the shrink wrap if i want to sleeve my case front header connectors?

  • @Revanchist8525 it depends on how big the cable is...the front panel connectors range in size. But I use the smallest sleeve and heatshrink that I can get away with. Normally I just sleeve the multi-colored cables with 1/4" sleeve and leave the other black one alone. Then i put all the cables in a F6 sleeve. Just Google F6 sleeve to see what I mean and check out some of my video's where I show cable mgmt. and you will see how I do the front panel connectors.

    Don't forget to subscribe

  • @WestCoastMods wow thx bro for the info!

  • @Revanchist8525 No problem.....will be doing a single sleeving vid pretty soon too.

  • Hi, what is the size of the sleeve for this cable fan? :)

  • @Zarteaga 1/4" sleeve with 1/4" or 5/16" heat shrink

  • @WestCoastMods Thanks broeder :)

  • Brilliant, simple and concise. wish I'd have seen this earlier with the 'straw' idea! ;-)

  • @nikbear Thanks bro,,,,,

  • @unhandledException1 Yeah, that may be it...don't know what you expected speeds are, but your ping seems okay...maybe a little high. If you have Comcast (I do) then yes I would call them as they are always fucki'n with my speeds too...but that is a whole different story...I have had them out to my house at least a dozen times...everyone from a normal tech, to a supervisor tech to actual line men tracing the line underground trying to find the problem. I think it's just Comcast lack of quality

  • @unhandledException1 Not sure if it because websites ie YouTube are not delivering their content at broadband speeds, because most of the time I can watch vids at 1080 and buffer stays well in front of the video, but then other times even at 480 it takes forever to buffer. And It's not the time of day or peek hours as they wiould have you believe, because I can be having a problem on one video then the very next video there is no problem....and we are talking like withing a 10 min time span

  • @unhandledException1 Yeah, I have that same problems with YouTube and I have a pretty fast download connection at 50mb/sec....I can never figure it out, it will do it on one video but then not on the next and there both from the same channel sometimes. This has been an ongoing problem, not sure if YT will ever fix it.

    Sorry it took so long,

    LazyMan

  • lol i know thats right

  • lol amazing how stuff comes to mind laying in bed

  • @supermanwhitt LOL...it's not always about computers though...:-)

  • i really like your videos, and also admire that you like a clean look.i also hate the cable mess that u get with regular power supps. can you send me some info on the sleeving that you use on a pm,because i will be starting a build and want to do it the right way,but i live in Bulgaria and we don't get much of the cool modding stuff and will have to find a shop that shipps worldwide..thank you in advance ;)

  • @bachokabg Thanks bro...check out MDPC-X you will find the sleeving and heat shrink there. They are located in Germany and ship worldwide.

  • Would you single sleeve each cable in a four pin molex? What about really small cables such as in a drive bay display? Thanks.

  • @tanert007 Yes I would single sleeve pretty much every cable, maybe some of the fan cables I don't but for sure all the pwr supply cables, moles, sata pwr, 6pin, 8pin, 24pin ect.

  • Comment removed

  • Maybe you can help me with this problem. What type (brand) of crimping tool do you use for these small connectors to get a good crimp. Having trouble finding one. Also, what's the trick to getting the wire connector to come free of the connector block. Thanks for your help. Enjoyed your video.

    chuckcava@aol.com

  • @WestCoastMods I decided on SLI GTX580's in my build (when I do build, -need to save up, im 16 so it will take until mid summer- I will probably buy some extra sleeving incase.) Do you think 180 feet will still be good with the ft02 build (Sli, I have all of my drive bays full except for one - display, fan cont. blue ray and cd)? And idk if this is a n00b question, but I can sleeve other things the same way right? Such as a headset. Thanks for your answers BTW, they really help. -TanerT007

  • @tanert007 yeah, 180 ft. should work...just make sure you sleeve all the important things first, then you the rest to sleeve fans, fan controller, ect. yes you can sleeve anything as long as you have the right size sleeving.

  • Ok, thanks

  • *Sorry message fail. I plan on doing the same as you (sleeving) with white orange maybe.

  • @tanert007 Sounds good, if you want to buy some sleeving from me PM me..

  • @WestCoastMods Yeah I also plan on Sleeving all visible/invisible cables in

  • @WestCoastMods I plan on using white/grey. I am going to have a build in the FT02, with the same PSU you used in that build. How much sleeve did you use in that?

  • @tanert007 About a 150ft, maybe a little more....but I sleeve every cable, whether you can see it or not and if a fan is already sleeved in the wrong color or cheaper sleeve then I re-sleeve it.

  • Hey, I love your vids, and plan on using Mdpc sleeving. Is 50m enough for a 1000w psu? Also, I have seen that pci-e power cords have a magnet typed thing on the end to prevent noise, should I remove this when sleeving, or what? And some cables (I think sata power) have 2 outputs... how do I deal with that!?

  • @tanert007 It take between 150ft to 200ft to sleeve every cable in a high end build. The best thing to do is measure your cables to get an overall amount, then I recommend adding 10% more for mistakes and what not's.

Yes you can remove the magnet type thingy. What color are you going to use?......because I have just started selling the same exact sleeving MDPC-X for the same price and shipping will be less as you won't have to get it from Germany. If you are interested PM me.

  • @9.00

If you're covering up the colour coded wires with shrink, now you are making it awkward to indentify what wire went where,if you need to extract and do work on it in the future.

So i don't see the need for manufacturers to cover all the way to the plugs.

  • @1dosucol1 Thant is a very minor issue...you can look at the other connector and follow the wire to know which one it is. I can look at a one side of 24pin connector and tell you what color the wire is just because of it's location, it's not that difficult. Also if you print out a pinout from Google, then you too will know which wire is which. Some PSU's..ie Corsair, Ultra X3 and some others use just black wires ...well Corsair only uses all blk on the sata and molex wires, but you get my point

  • Excellent video(s), thanks!

  • @sshalati Thanks bro

  • AH!! Great tip buddy. Thanks again! btw, wouldn't it look more aesthetic to have a black the 3 pin plug in that snazzy case?

I garee that it's about the small details that makes the build complete. The 24pin is the worst.

  • @THEJEDEYEMASTER Trust me you won't see the connector once I do cable mgmt. Heck you must be on a WCM marathon......thanks bro!

  • Thanks for the tutorial

  • @Ablive07 No problem...thanks for the comment

  • west coost moooooods!

  • @pfernando27 Whauuuuuuuppppp!

  • man this DIY helped a lot........ do you have a tutorial on dremel cutting?

  • @andy2xx Thanks bro, glad it helped. I really don't have a video on how to use a Dremel, but I have used a Dremel in several of my modding vids, check them out when you have time.

  • @WestCoastMods yeah im checkin out the other vidz right now especially Modding Your Mobo Tray for Cable Mgmt. for some techniques hehehe......

  • He said on other vid he like anal...

  • @PCGamer333 Haha....you should subscribe to my channel

  • Looks like your putting a black condom on a dogs willy.

  • were did u buy the sleeving

  • @408427 The sleeving used in this video was purchased from Fry's Electronics. But you can but it online if you prefer. You can get kits from Performance PC's, Frozen CPU"s or Crazy PC's. Also where i get from now is either Murder Mod or if you want it in bulk try WireCare.

Hope this helps and Happy Sleeving

You should sub my channel as I have some new How-To's and some very extreme builds coming up

    LazyMan :-)

  • Thanks a lot, detailed and informative..bravo!!

  • @RonModz Thanks bro!

  • that is VERY time consuming but in the end its fucking awesome!! 5/5 might do tha to my 24pin and gpu power cables cuss when i get three cards its gonna be a bugger!

  • Yeah, everything takes time, it's just a matter of how much time one is willing to dedicate. I agree with you though in the end it's very rewarding.

    Cheers

    LazyMan :-)

  • Hay nice job and good idea with the straw and paper clip.

  • Thanks bro!

  • This will come in handy. Thanks.

  • Your welcome, glad this vid will help you.

    Cheers

    LazyMan :-)

  • luff it

  • Thanks bro, you may want to check out some of my other vids, as they are mostly how-to's. Feel free to subscribe if you like what I have to offer.

    Cheers

    LazyMan :-)

  • Love the 24 pin idea.

  • Thanks bro

  • Thanks, guess im going to go to the macdonalds to get some good straws :-)

  • Go to 7-11 and get a straw, not sure but I think 7-11 straws are a little bigger. the ones used for Slurpee's.

  • Dont forget about dairy queen blizzard straws...if DQ still exists?

inside of my computer looks like a 3rd graders rendition of a multi colored 40 arm squid attacking the play ground.

  • Funny about the inside of your case.

    LazyMan :-)

  • can u use a hair dryer instead of using a lighter ?

    if u don't have a hot gun . :-)

  • Yes you can use a blow dryer as long as it gets hot enough.

  • Your so Dang clever...

  • Thanks!

  • Thanks buddy! Glad to hear you enjoyed San Francisco. Parking in the city is a nightmare, thank god I live and work away from the city.

    Cheers

    LazyMan :-)

  • wow the straw technique is awesome and easy

  • Thanks Bro!

  • hmm as you like to cover all wires up did you ever try covering up al the way up to the 3pin itself saves alot of work and i think looks cool

  • Yes sir, I normally cover up all connectors with Heat Shrink, including Sata connectors.

I didn't show that in this vid, because the fan that I sleeved is going to be connected to a terminal block which then will be connected to a fan controller, so that being said the connector will be coming off and a spade connector will be used.

    Cheers

    LazyMan :-)

  • hehe no we dont have such in the netherlands . but ill just get some stainless tubing costs about 1 buck for all of it and those don't break .

  • Sound good, I've used stainless tube to sleeve on many other projects before, but when I went to make this vid, I didn't think everyone would have access to S.S. tube so I improvised by using the straw, and believe it or not the straw works better than the S.S. tube. I guess because it's lighter, more flexible and thinner.

If you can find a large straw, I think you will also find it easier to use.

    Cheers

    LazyMan :-)

  • hey the straw idea is pretty neato ive seen ppl doin that with tape this i think is way better

  • Yeah, pick up a big fat soda straw from 7/11 or another Quik Mart. Don't know if you have 7/11's in the Netherlands?

Using the straw for me is real easy, it's a pain in the ass taping up the ends with tape and taking the tape back of.

    Good Luck

    LazyMan :-)

  • Awesome job.

Loved the ideia on the 24-pin connector.. Definitly gonna use it.

    Thanks

  • Thanks bro, I'm glad you found this helpful.

    Cheers

    LazyMan :-)

  • Wow!!! You are sick man!! But in a very good way. I really love it.

  • I appreciate your support, Thank You!

  • No problem, you will still get the idea.

  • nice vid again, im watching them in back wards order lol, 3,2,1

  • You have given me the confidence to try. thanks

  • If you run into any problems, don't hesitate to PM me, I am sure you will do fine. I have confidence in you!

    Cheers

    LazyMan :-)

  • Thanks this really helps, now i learned how to do it :D

  • Your welcome, thanks for the comment.

  • I hate how they don't bring the sleeving all the way up, it's such half assed. I can't wait to do all 24 cables on mine...and by can't wait I mean it's gonna be brutal. Thanks for the guides!

  • Your welcome m8t. Glad you found this video helpful.

    Cheers

    LazyMan :-)

  • Nice work! ;-)

Did u ever had Problems with sleeving?

    *Defekts on the power supply*?

  • yeah if the PSU was faulty, you would probably have to remove all the sleeving before returning it. I personally have not ran into that problem. I would never buy a non-sleeved PSU any more, heck i don't think I would buy a non modular PSU ever again.

Client builds are different, I test the PSU before sleeving it, and one the client receives the unit he/she then relieves me of all responsibility.

    Cheers

    LazyMan :-)

  • So helpful! I am subscribed.

  • Thanks Bro!

  • very nice video and i never thought of sleeving each individual cable on a 24 pin connector, that's a really good idea. 5/5. I have a feeling all your videos are going to be 5/5 material from what I've seen so far. Keep up the great work. ^^

  • Thank you again for a wonderful comment. Makes me fell good after a hard day at work.

Keep the nice comment coming! LOL :-)

    LazyMan

  • haha sorry i should have watched it all the way b4 asking =) great info and tip, cheers

  • very good tutorial

  • Thanks bro!

  • what size heat shrink are you using?

  • That all depends on the size cable you are sleeving and the size sleeve you are using. If you are not sure they sell kits with several different sizes sleeve and shrink.

Use the smallest sleeving that will fit over the cables, then use the smallest shrink that will fit over the sleeving. This way you get a nice snug seal. Heat shrink will only shrink down approx. 25%. they do sell stuff that will shrink more but expensive.

Check out Performance PC's and Murder Mod for sleeving kits.

    LazyMan

  • nice! Very Nice! I hate colored cables too. Thank for the vid!

  • colored cables suck! even though they are only exposed a little bit, to me stand out like a sore thumb!

    Thanks for your comment.

    Cheers

    LazyMan

  • well done 5/5

  • Thanks Bro!

  • You could also use a hair dryer instead of a lighter to shrink the heat shrink. Oh, and if any one is interested, the yellow wire is usually if not always the +12v, the red is the +5v and the black wire is the ground. FYI

  • Yep, a hair dryer is an good alternative, as long as it is powerful enough to do the job. some cheap hair dryers don't even dry hair. LOL

  • Personally, rather than using a heatgun or lighter, I use a soldering iron, holding it beneath the heatshrink.

The advantage being that like the heatgun, there is no flame, but like the lighter, you can heat the precise part that you want - for example sometimes you could ruin the surface of the fan or whatever the device is.

The disadvantage of course, is that it takes a minute or two to warm up.

  • great idea, I have in the past melted some connectors because it got to hot. but since then I got a heat gun with low, med, and high, if I use med it works perfect, just hot enough to shrink the shrink wrap, but not so hot it melts the connector.Sometimes my fingers get pretty close to my work, I would probably brand myself using a soldering iron LOL

  • I got to say, that's a hell of a way to sleeve cables! :-) Great idea!

  • Thanks bro, now you have no excuse to sleeve your cables. LOL

I like the idea of the plasti-dip, but for me I would need to find a better way of applying it, so it is more uniformed. I'm a little bit of a anal perfectionist. lol

But I must say the plasti-dip concept is very interesting, great idea!

    Cheers

  • A little long-winded but great vid :)

  • Thanks, I know it was a little "long winded", just didn't want to miss anything that I had planned on mentioning. Hate when that happens.LOL

  • dude :D

Ur like Monk when it comes to the cables :D:D

Anyways, nice video and very helpfull indeed ;)

    Keep making those videos!

  • Thanks for the comment. sorry it took so long to reply, working to much. :-)

    Cheers

    LazyMan@WCM

  • thats great

  • Its so easy, but at the same time its so hard. I learned something today!

  • great idea, thanks for the tips, looks like it works like a charm :)

  • Thanks!

  • Nice method. Never thought of that before. But fans are pretty easy to sleeve though.

  • Thanks, for noobs, even sleeving a fan can be a challenge, I choose to use the fan just for demonstration purposes. May do a vid on the 24 pin, front panel connectors and Sata cables.

    Cheers

    LazyMan@WCM

  • Nice vid, i like to get as close as possible also so no colors show. Nice Xigmatek fan!!

  • Thanks Bro, Saw your review on the Xigmatec fans, though well if there good enough for jkon than there good enough for me! lol

Actually I looked them up and there spec's are better than Yate Loon and Scythe for the comparable fans.

  • lol it better be cause of me.. j/k best fans ive owned yet, good choice!

  • Beautiful work. Thanks for the vid!

  • Nice job. I would try to make the videos a bit shorter or have more parts. I will have a sleeving video next week. I will be sleeving the xigmatek darknight and then sell it

  • ya, they do run long. I agree it's hard to keep them entertained on 10min vids. thanks for your suggestion.

  • nice!!!

  • Best Cable sleeving video iv ever seen!

  • Thank for those kind words.

    Cheers

    LazyMan

  • good job there man ,, really helpful using home material and the finish product looks really good

  • Thank's Bro

  • that is a genuis idea!!~

  • did you ever think a free straw from 7/11 would make life just a little bit more pleasurable.

  • lmao love your humor

  • Thanks I don't know if that's humor or being tired and rum dumb lol

  • where did you buy the black sleeves from>?And the heatshrink >?Thanks i enjoy the videos!

  • I bought the sleeving and heat shrink at Fry's Electronics, but you can buy at many PC vendors ie.

    PC Performance, Frozen CPU ect

    Thanks for your support

    LazyMan

  • Well done... love the dialog. You mentioned doing the power supply, have you ever removed the stock sleeving and done each of the 24 wires? Too much work? I'm gonna try it when I get brave enough.

  • ya, what i do is remove the stock sleeveing on the 24 pin cable, than apply about 2"-3" of heat shrink at both ends of each individual cable. then i re-sleeve the cable maybe I'll do a future video

  • Hey Lazyman, excellent tips for sleeving, cables back into the head, 5 stars for you:)

    cHi

  • Thanks Bro!
