Cadillac killer? Based on how the Golf W12 went I really doubt it will be a cadillac killer. I think VW should stay under 250-300ish HP or things get all screwy. Be happy with how fun the golf, is but keep it a golf. Leave the race cars to your audi and lamborghini counterparts.

@MaxAndCoop123 I guess you wouldn't know what a DSG gearbox is then, would you? 8ms shift time. Faster than a Ferrari Enzo's gearbox. The DSG gearbox is actually faster than the manual gearbox. Look up the 0-60 times on a MKV GTI with the manual and DSG gearbox for example. L2 do research.

Don't you know how to do work on your car or is the concept of valve timing to advanced for you? Also, make sure you have all of your information straight when you go and open your mouth because that 3.2 has a chain. Now go run and hug your v8 pick-up truck making 180 hp.
lol ok, since its not that hard because i have done it a timing belt change on a 98 audi a4 quatro. The fact that it can go out after 60k miles makes the 1.8T a shity engine. and you should shut your mouth before opening it because those V-8 Engines can produce more than 180 HP at a lower RPM range than a shitty 1.8T that produces that much power at 5k RPMs.
Of you replace all the equipment you're supposed to (like the ROLLERS you cheap bastard!) there is no way the belt only lasted 60k miles unless it was damaged or REALLY CHEAP! And of course an engine that has twice the cylinders and at least 3 - 4 times the displacement damn well should make more power then a turbo 1.8 litre 4 cylinder! Increase that engine in size 3 - 4 times and it would destroy. Take the 1.8 increase it to 2.5 and times it by two. That would make it a 5 litre VW V-8.
from what the user manual says 50k under alot of use 80k under shorter conditions. yeah and try compairing a VW V-8 to a Big block chevy or any other big block. V-blocks are better in overall design than the 1.8T
first things first tints then rims then intake ecu flash exhaust if its a 2.5 so i dont think they are turboed but if u do get it get good pipeing and a garret turbo like a gt30 trim there amazing turbos and dont be cheap with ur car do it right bro it all takes time... 1 at a time and rember when u put money in to it ur not getting it back my car has at least 8 gs in it i have to sell it for about 12 500 what bull shiti i have a audi a4 and had a 2001 wolfsburg jetta 1.8t with a garret

Pls HELP!!! i have a 2005 jetta tdi n it recently broke down on the freeway wit only 56k miles on it lmao. The dealershp service told me that d timing valve n the waterpump needs to be replace, total $1k. Installed, they now call me that d engine needs 2 be replace, for a reason that i cud not understand since i dnt knw mch about cars : ( they said that 1of the engine compartment was 90% damaged n the other was 80% damaged, $6k cost. Let me guess.. ur also one of the idiots that gives VW's a bad name? What I mean by that, is you don't perform all your scheduled maintenance as you should. You probably pound on the car (acceleration wise) and you probably don't even make sure ur oil is changed at proper intervals. OR, u take it to sum1 who doesn't specialize in European cars. U do this, & yes, its normal. Don't use the right oil, & other fluids and ur essentially asking for something terrible to go wrong with ur car!
No u r wrong, big time, u shouldnt judge right away, cos i can give u receipts on my car. i only drive the car from A to B, work car. plus my whole family drives VWs, a passat n a golf so we r a big fan bt was definitely disappointed on the jetta. every schedule oil maintenance was on time n i had the car checked on its 50k mile was recommended. i dnt pound on the gas pedal, cos i want my car to last thats for sure. i take it to our dealership who specialize on VWs only.
I have a VW Passat 1.8T where they say the Turbo goes bad well before 100k. However, I have nearly 120k on it now and the Turbo is just now starting to hint that it may go in the next 10k miles or so. I've used nothing but the best AND proper fluids for my car and haven't had any problems. Going cheap w/any foreign car NEVER pays off. Especially so with European cars. Good luck, I wish I could say I'm sorry, but you did this to yourself!
well it is very possible that the engine was damaged as they said, especially if those two go, timing valve and waterpump. If u think of the names themselves of the damaged parts that u replaced, u could assume what they do was important. And i assure u they are. Dont think the company is cheating u, but u can always get a second opinion.

i didnt modify the car..and it's not only me who's getting these transmission probs..without exaggeration, nearly half of the boras down here are having some kind of transmission problems..Im wondering now, is it a fault in the vehicle.

You need to check yo stats my brova! I have a '96 Golf, bought it not even last year. I had to fix the head gasket 5 times. I just paid $2200.00 bucks 3days ago. Guess what the second time I drove it the engine check light came on...The enigine got over heated. Wow, what a great car. MY friend has a Mercedes eclass that is 15 years old and it has over 275 thousand miles on it, and he hardly ever has to work on it. That is also the only reason why he still owns it, he's not like me who wants a new ride every now and then so he buys those rugged Mercedes and believe it or not BMW too. I said it myself before some Jap cars are pretty amazing too for their reliability and overall quality. I guess as the old saying goes different folks different strokes I guess.

Remember somethin about VW's and that's where they are made. You can tell by the vin number, if it starts with 2 wws its similar to a wolfburg edition because it is made somewhere in Germany, they are very reliable. VWs are also made in Brazil and some of them like the Jetta or over there they are called the Bora they are good to. The Mexican made ones EYE CORUMBA! They are KIA quality or in other words put the unk in junk! You probably got one of those, they have no quality control down there

jetta a5 (made in Mexico) is called BORA in some countries (Mexico, South Africa Argentina) passat made in Europe is called passat everywhere, Golf is golf everywhere 2, but US has a different version called rabbit based on golf, Brazil also has a different version of golf called GOL (very awful version) Mexico does not use jetta A5 cuz VW still sells jetta A4 with different lights and body but same motor (4cil 2.0) and sells BORA (5cil) as a more expensive car.

i didnt modify the car..and it's not only me who's getting these transmission probs..without exaggeration, nearly half of the boras down here are having some kind of transmission problems..Im wondering now, is it a fault in the vehicle.

I have a bora aka jetta,and withing the last 6 months i have had to do 2 major set of transmission work.just as ebonyarko said, when it comes back, im selling it. We have a few problems with vw in the caribbean, the 1st prob is their interior goes, 2nd transmission gives alot of trouble..my vin starts wit ww i dont wanna think that germans gave me inferior quality

You need to check yo stats my brova! I have a '96 Golf, bought it not even last year. I had to fix the head gasket 5 times. I just paid $2200.00 bucks 3days ago. Guess what the second time I drove it the engine check light came on...The enigine got over heated. Wow, what a great car. I love the car, but I don't trust VW engines anymore.How can Japanese/Korean cars still be running and some are more than 12 yrs old. That's why VW isn't that great over rated? Yes sir !

MY friend has a Mercedes eclass that is 15 years old and it has over 275 thousand miles on it, and he hardly ever has to work on it. That is also the only reason why he still owns it, he's not like me who wants a new ride every now and then so he buys those rugged Mercedes and believe it or not BMW too. I said it myself before some Jap cars are pretty amazing too for their reliability and overall quality. I guess as the old saying goes different folks different strokes I guess.

Ok, I respect your friend. When I think about it these so called cars that are "lemons" like some VW's not all are for mechanics. Plain and simple, they can really tell what's wrong with them. just came out my ride, such a nice coup...yet the problems are bigger then the car. I'm getting it checked again on Monday. After that I'm selling that ride, and getting something Japanese or Korean. Also, this Golf looks so nice too, damn!

Remember somethin about VW's and that's where they are made. You can tell by the vin number, if it starts with 2 wws its similar to a wolfburg edition because it is made somewhere in Germany, they are very reliable. VWs are also made in Brazil and some of them like the Jetta or over there they are called the Bora they are good to. The Mexican made ones EYE CORUMBA! They are KIA quality or in other words put the unk in junk! You probably got one of those, they have no quality control down there

You would think by fixing a German car 5x's for the same thing it should work the first time? You've been reading my comments so I won't repeat what I had fixed. Plus I'm a student trying to tune a car. Any student would be pissed. Try this, go to google and put "VW sucks", watch what pops up. That will save us the blabbing.

The Mark 4 Jetta is the Bora in the UK if i'm not mistaken i'm not so sure about this model. The Golf Is the same madel in America as in the UK.

jetta a5 (made in Mexico) is called BORA in some countries (Mexico, South Africa Argentina) passat made in Europe is called passat everywhere, Golf is golf everywhere 2, but US has a different version called rabbit based on golf, Brazil also has a different version of golf called GOL (very awful version) Mexico does not use jetta A5 cuz VW still sells jetta A4 with different lights and body but same motor (4cil 2.0) and sells BORA (5cil) as a more expensive car.
