In this race you could really tell that Mike Smith had been shaken up a bit by how close the Clement L. Hirsch had ended, and to his credit he realized it was rider error, not the horse's ability. He adjusted that mistake by staying much closer to the pace in this race and not going quite as wide or waiting quite as long to turn Zenyatta loose.
