  • Doesn't he play on Heifetz's Guarnerius? Seems unworthy if you ask me....

  • Okay, so...I'm playing this symphony again in April, and while it's obvious he knows what he is doing, I find the "slow motion" explanation of articulation not particularly helpful when the actual tempo is much faster. How well does this explanation translate when the tempo is faster?

  • The Concertmaster of SFS!

  • This is perfect. Exactly i needed

  • i wish i could play violin so well!

  • haha he looks like wants more cowbell!

  • im auditioning with this piece, this is like a perfect turorial :D

    this guy sounds amazing

  • Great guy, very interesting to watch.

  • For very short bow strokes the performance of the video technology (pictures per second) needs some improvement.. ;)

  • I have felt what the Concertmaster has illustrated...stunning ability... very good-very good!

  • i don't know if it's just me, but at times, it seems as if he holds his bow higher up rather than at the frog... interesting

  • watching 2:05 over and over and over and over...

  • LOL!!!

  • haha i just can't do that

  • I do it with 2:38.... 'the quarter notes'...lol

  • is beautiful, bello hermoso, me encanta el violin

  • Who is this Barantschik dude? He plays great, and his violin sounds incredible.

  • He is the concertmaster of the San Francisco Symphony.

  • (also former concertmaster of the London Symphony Orchestra, Netherlands Radio Philharmonic and Bamberg Symphony, and former member of the St. Petersburgh/Leningrad Philharmonic)

  • in summary: VERY GOOD lol XD

  • His violin sounds incredible because it is the ex-David Guarnerius once played by Heifetz

  • just because its the ex david w.e or who ever played it. it depends on how it made and how u play it. and usualy the strings make a big difference. but i really think just because the strad is 300 years old doesnt mean its the best but W.E usualy good violinists play on strads so thats probably why people call them the best

  • I know all that; I've been playing violin for 8 years. We were talking about the violin though, not the player. :-)

  • He also used to be the Concertmaster with the London Symphony Orchestra.

  • @nibelungensohn

He's the concertmaster of the San Francisco Symphony.
