Feel? Testing shows that the difference in feel is the SHAPE -- blade vs cavity back -- not the type of steel nor the forming process.
One note on feel: Many tests over the years have determined that what golfers call "feel" is more sound than anything they get through their hands. There may be a difference here between forged carbon steel and cast stainless.
Interesting discussion, bluetiege & sk8rolos, but it would be nice if you could do it without name-calling and insulting.
For the most part, I agree with bluetiege on the technical aspects. True, form forging (or near-net forging) starts with a casting step, but uses forging steel and doesn't finish all the treatments the way it would with a cast-only club. So the steel at the end is like forged, not cast. But much more interesting is the question of what forging does for you. (More later)
shut up sk8olos, the day you become a lead engineer for a major golf club manufacturer such as Ping your opinion will mean something. So its cast 1st and then final forged, big deal? You were not part of the design team and I'll assure you that if I put a cast club in your lame hands you would have no clue when you hit it whether it was cast or forged. Lots of BS by idiots who claim they can feel the difference, its called placebo effect sheot for brains. LOL
You're opinion means jack shit as well. Are you a mother fucking engineer? Of course you aren't. I mean are you kidding me? "You were not a part of the design team.." NEITHER WERE YOU! . Do yourself and everyone else a favor and go fuck yourself you limey piece of shit. I never said it's softer to hit SHIT FOR BRAINS! All I was saying is that 8620 is harder steel, maybe you would know that if you did you're HW. I never said anything about performance you cock suckers, IT'S CHEAPER
@magurochanjpop No shit! These irons are FORM FORGED..which means they are cast at first and then forged into shape. Not a true forge, and what I meant about 8620 steel is that it is harder than the traditional 1020 carbon steel that most manufacturers choose to forge with. Get your shit straight DOUCHE BAG!
(Continuation)
Performance? It's just a placebo.

Hope this helps.

Gay, forged 8620 steel. Basically cast metal that was then forged into shape..don't be fooled! FORM FORGED

8620 is carbon steel... not CAST metal... casting and forging are processes not steel types.
