I ultimately went to NH but I do have a nice video of Providence RI that I filmed along the way. Yes, there are a few other Seger tunes that might fit well in future videos.
Talking about cloverleafs... I think those without C/D lanes are very outdated in these days with high traffic volumes... try to merge at 25 - 30 mph with 60 - 70 mph traffic... Another problem is weaving over a short distance.
You should mention US 421 is also on I-85 and I-73. The US 421 re-routing happend at the same time I-40 was brought back through Death Valley meeting up with Business 85.
I did not mention the multi-plexed 6 miles with I-85 that you are referring to because I usually don't go out of my way to mention Interstate-US-Route multiplexes.
If the video was of US-421 then I would have. To a person from that area I can see where it might matter but to someone driving through on I-85 it is not that important IMO.
Very nice salvage job - in an Ansel Adams kind of way. Thanks for the ride. And the opening does sound like a car passing good work with the opening. 5 Stars as Always.
Nicely done. Old I-85 thru downtown was known as "death valley". And the C/D lanes at 126 were there from the beginning, not added after the new urban loop opened...I have driven this stretch of road regularly for ten years, often coming up from the south on US 421.
I'm not sure why my original comment when I asked about the C/D lanes got deleted, but thanks for answering my question, sal. I wish Illinois had freeways that were more like this(and smartly had C/D lanes), like new I-85 through Greensboro, and I-85 in Georgia near the 316 interchange. *sighs at how pathetic Illinois' state government is*
Texas seems to do a very decent job of building expressways, too....
Nice video, enjoyed how you did one completely in black and white for once! (and also understand why too) I also enjoyed seeing the collector/distributor lanes at exit 126, and believe the c/d lanes were constructed after the new I-85 alignment opened in 2004, since I drove through that exit in 2006 when I attended my grandmother's funeral in NC.
And since I too often forget, what video editing program do you use for making your videos?
Come on down to exit 60 off 85 and have some coffee of tea !

I guess I'll have to search more of your videos to see if you got any freeway shots of NE. Hope you put more to the tunes of Seger. HINT, HINT!!

Thank you!
I first drove this section in Summer 2005 and yes, the Exit 126 CD lanes were there, I assumed from the beginning as well.

Good video, Jim. Nice salvage technique, using the black and white.

If you close your eyes when the intro is playing, it sounds exactly like a car passes you.
