be ex US army Soar 160th, and having experience with shooting the m16a2 and m4 in combat, and with personally owning a MAK90 and a AK74 tantal. id take the AK into combat over the ar/m16 platform any day. The jams are countless with the ar/m16 platform. In combat, accuracy dont mean shit if the weapon dont fire. As it is with most fire fights, the range you are fighting at is short, and the AK will deliver a kill a lot faster

5.56 fragments only at velocity at or above 2800fps which with a 20'' bbl would be about 180yards, with a 16'' bbl around 120yards and with a 14.5'' 90-100yards, and with a 10'' bbl the muzzle velocity is around 2100fps. 5.45 tumbles at all ranges and all velocities, out of a 8'' bbl 5.45 is 2500fps. Its not like it would be easy to hit a small target multiple times or have a tight group at that distance. I can easily shoot a 10rd 5" group at 300meters with my AK47 and m4. Though they do have a Leopold scopes and a bi-pods. I'm done being an asshole, and we can both agree that a .308 is probably the best sniper round you can get without blowing too much money.

This round is designed for high impact and close range knock down use. they are not accurate at distances over 300meters because of the bullet's shape. They were designed to stop non-armoured vehicles without over penetration, and that's exactly what they do. I am not a kid, and I don't even own a game system.

What i got from this vid is that the AR clearly shot tighter, more accurate groups at a faster rate of fire. Im not hating on the AK, i own an SGL21 and would have been more accurate than that.

I don't see the point to these 'tests' at all. In battle you wouldn't just blast away at a wall that someone is behind with small arms, at least it seems like a stupid tactic to me unless you happen to have shit tons of ammo and a machine gun. Now if you knew where he was behind the wall then a well placed .308 shot or two would do the trick...

Well, it appears from this video that these two rifles can make holes in concrete blocks. If the intention was to show how each one performs compared to the other, I think it is inconclusive. I was expecting the AK to be used on one side of the wall and the AR on the other. or on two different walls. Making random holes with both rifles shows conclusively... that they both work.

Couple of elemetary kids could punch holes in that wall with simple BALL PEEN hammer cheap chinese one at that from Wal-Mart..real way to prove any weapon from .50 cal Barret to even and APM2 is simple(any bullet)...now if you are in Desert like West Coast forget it...not too many White Oaks or Red Oaks there ...pretty standard in East Coast. you will need some big logs. Cherry or Hickory is even better but; expensive! Only armor experts know this trick.
Not that you really did a comparison of the two but if you were I think it would have been fair to compare a M855 cartridge out of the AR to whatever you were using in your Mac 90 since at the least it was a bi-metal bullet you were shooting.

Majority of the cover you get is cinderblock walls, mud mounds, and our vehicles.

Not that you really did a comparison of the two but if you were I think it would have been fair to compare a M855 cartridge out of the AR to whatever you were using in your Mac 90 since at the least it was a bi-metal bullet you were shooting.

@gluemuncher1986 If you actually knew anything about the ground war we are fighting now in Afghanistan you'd know that we don't carry sandbags around on our backs everywhere we go and then set them up when we get into firefights. Majority of the cover you get is cinderblock walls, mud mounds, and our vehicles.

@gluemuncher1986 Just at COPs and FOBs. Counter Insugency means we are bringing the fight to them, so its all light mounted and dismounted patrols. No sandbags are taken. You use whatever happens to be where you are at for cover.

ar less recoil faster to load less damage.. ak more damage slower to load more recoil.. id go with ar.. i plan on aiming for the head . id rather the accuracy and less recoil

@motlencore89 if you read the discription you would know the wall was full of sand.... sand absorbs energy thus reducing velocity and distributing force, thus reducing penetration and damage to the wall. imo the damage it cause was pretty impressive
