A person will find out real quick what they know or don't know about a subject plus how their mind works and organizes information. Reading a prepared speech is not allowed. In college a person is given one or two talking points and they have to organize and talk about it for 15 minutes to an hour. A person will find out real quick what they know or don't know about a subject plus how their mind works and organizes information. Reading a prepared speech is not allowed. I personally would like Obama to have topics and speak instead of reading a speech word for word.

Actually it's just that 80% of the American population finds it hard to believe that someone who has given us countless examples of her stupidity is still attempting to present herself as someone we should take seriously. Every time you see a video with Sara Palin pop up on today's most viewed videos, it's always for one reason, and one reason only. It is because she has once again done something stupid enough that people feel the need to see before they can even believe it.

As a Speech Professor I can say that a person who is going off of three bullet points is a huge difference than simply regurgitating a speech over a teleprompter.

Do you teach your students to memorize their speeches? I hope not. That would be stupid. So, I assume you teach that reading a speech you've written on a teleprompter or whatever is the best way to present it. Which makes your argument, and use of the word "regurgitate" really ridiculous.
When Obama's asked to speak impromptu, he kicks butt. Without notes on his palm or a teleprompter. Just look at what he did to the Republicans a couple weeks ago.

SkullMech, To me it's not rational that people spend so much time expressing hate towards Palin (or Palin supporters for that matter) instead of focusing on things that people in actual positions of power are doing. This whole video is trivial nonsense. She essentially wrote bullet points for a speech - which incidentally is not worse than reading off a teleprompter.

Firstly its all about the looks. You look more professional and more capable reading of a teleprompter than reading off the palm of your hands. Even if she wanted to do so, a small card would have sufficed.
Secondly, if its your speech and it involves your ideas, its not that hard to voice it out. Obama did it, why couldn't she?

Unless you have proven you can walk the walk, then what would the nation say if you can't even talk the talk. If you can't take care of yourself, then how can the nation expect you to take care of them? Get where this is going?
Substance is as if not more important than looks. But if you look through history, its those that look good and conduct themselves well on camera that gives voters a good impression of you.

@BorakOBummer Obama promised to have combat troops out of Iraq in 16 months. The last combat troops left in Aug.2010. He promised to send more troops to Afghanistan to pursue the Taliban & Al Qaeda. He sent more troops as promised. He improved health, education, & job opportunities for Veterans. Additional workers were hired to tackle the backlog of disability claims for wounded soldiers returning from war. Out war dead are no longer "invisible" to the public! Public service: a thankless job!.
