This song is NOT saying we should invade Iran...it's a political song condemning our actions in the Iran-Contra Affair under Reagan in '87. In '91 the song was rerecorded with mostly the same lyrics but Iran and Tehran are changed to Iraq and Baghdad, which was condemning Bush Senior. The song Baghdad could once again be played today in reaction to Bush Junior...

--you're right; my dad is iranian, im iranian-american, and i have been to iran and from what i've seen i can second that iran and the us have some great people and idiot leaders.
--but what i meant was that there is a serious language barrier in this vid. we know that the song/vid is anti-war, but i think that a lot of iranian viewers may not know this. i think they may have mastered english to the point where they can interpret what the singer says, but not what he means.check commentbelow

I know man this is the problem, the barrier of culture. That's the trouble we had in Iraq. We all have "personal space" especially the americans and you get some Iraqi coming up to you all shouting and screaming, it freaks people out and shit happens. So they hate us more cos he coulda just been trying to sell something but he;s plastered over the pavement for it, meaning the Iraqis hate you cos they know what he was doing. This song is NOT saying we should invade Iran...it's a political song condemning our actions in the Iran-Contra Affair under Reagan in '87. In '91 the song was rerecorded with mostly the same lyrics but Iran and Tehran are changed to Iraq and Baghdad, which was condemning Bush Senior. The song Baghdad could once again be played today in reaction to Bush Junior...

I wanted to add that I love this song. It's probably the most important song The Offspring have ever written. Personally, I feel we need to do a lot of looking at ourselves, because the attitude many of you here share is the same attitude you supposedly abhore in the "evil Americans". And the Americans that ARE like that? They're just as bad as you. Personally, I'd just as soon be distanced from the lot of you.
