  • Thank you, usefull video

  • thanks you sooo much this really healped

  • uhmm.. i cant do "Stroke Path"..

  • sure this video is good tutorial for the self taught :)

  • Im having a problem with my pen tool and selecting 'Stroke path'- its all greyed out and I cant figure out why. Im using CS3, anyone with help would be greatly appreciated!

  • Are you using a tablet?

  • thank you very very much it helps me but still i like you to explain it with your voice easier than following the mouse.. wish you can do the same tuts for the rest of the tool

  • Thanks, you don't know how this helped alot. I've been using the fade control instead of the pen pressure control to fade the line on both ends. With the fade control you don't know how long the line will be, so it ends up cut at the half way you made your path. TmbsUp!

  • Awesome tutorial! This is great when all you need is a quick, to-the-point rundown of the basics of the pen tool. I've never used it before and this was enough to get me up and running, without having to slog through half an hour of video. Thanks!

  • how do u do this on Ai CS5?

  • how you made the brush look like that D:

ik maybe this is a stupid question but i seriously forgot how >. <

  • you saved me! :D btw, what version do you use? thanks! :)

  • thanks for your help :)

  • Very helpfull, but tell me.. why doesn't it brush alongside the WHOLE line? its misses the last part?

  • @Syrika24 The explanation is easy. You see that I checked the "simulate pressure" box. What that does is behaving like a stroke made with a tablet like a Wacom, which have a pressure detection interface. The less pressure you apply, the thinner the stroke gets. So if you set your minimum width in the brush engine to 0%. The start and end of the stroke will be 0% width, making both ends dissapear.

  • @masamun3 I don't see Simulate Pressure in PS4.

  • Well would of been nice with commentary or somthing other then no sound, but it showed me what tools work good for this :D. Thanks.

  • @FrigidPhoenix

i meant settings for the tool, to make it look good.

  • Awesome! Kudos! :o

  • good video.... really helpful.... no bullshit dialogue, no one trying to be a wise ass....

simple, sweet and straight to the point.... cheers!!!

  • thank you so much, it is very helpful to me for my work. thank you!

  • hello, I've got a doubt. If it happens that you miss or wants to go back and move a spot of the curve, can it be fixed?

  • this helped me, thank you.

  • suck with this help

  • @tonytsing message me if you've got any doubt, I'll try my best to help you :)

  • *o* thanks!

  • This is so awesome -.- This isn't a tutorial its just you doing random shit. Commentary over it plz

  • @IReFleXGamingNetWork Wow! I love when random morons come here looking for a magic trick that makes them awesome at photoshop, and DON'T EVEN BOTHER READING THE DAMN TEXT BELOW THE VIDEO.

It's got no commentary. Get over it plz.

  • In the beginning, how do you make the lines curve as you move the pen tool?

  • @AjaxtheWerewolf watch the main video. This one is a reply.

  • I can create the lines and to the stroke path thing and the stimulate pressure is checked, and it's on brush..but when I click okay, instead of it coming out a clear line is a big 'ol blob and it's sort of blurry/ and transparent. :\ I know it's probably something simple and I'm just having a tard moment, but can you help me, please? :] (The Opacity is on 100 and the mode is on Normal. Also, the brush size is currently on 8 and the smaller I make it the more transparent it gets. D:)

  • thank you ^ .^

  • No...never mind I just figured it out...."BD

Lol thanks anyway, your tutorials are great xD

  • Damn it!I don´t get it. . . I can´t stoke any lines!-.-

Everytime I do, the option is unavailable!. . . Do I have to do some kind of update to unlock this sort of options?. . .

  • @123Jenny764 You mean the simulate pressure option? It should be possible to check under all circumstances. Anyways, Check my other video about pen tool, it's the main one, with instructions, so it might give you a hint or two.

  • omg!! THIS is one of the two very concrete things i've been looking for! thank you so damn much!! :D :D :D

  • aw shiiiieeeet. Just this little vid helped me alot.

    thumbs up for this

  • @FunkyRaspberry Haha, thank you :) I'm happy I'm useful for something ^^

  • when i click stroke path my line comes out very thich all the way.. why? it does look like your when the line starts really thing and then thicker and then thin again.. plz help!

  • How do you apply the dynamic brush pressure?? That create the tips of the path?

  • Question, everytime if i set a line with pen tool i get the black color >< i don't know how to delete that black if you going to do the line

  • @cocoisgek 0:03 and top left corner of the screen answer your question, you need to click the button under the mouse cursor. There's 2 modes: Shape layers and Paths, go for the second one.

  • very good thank u so so much!

  • Even though it had no talking it was alot easier to understand. Thanks so much, what i have been looking for all day only took 1:50 to learn.

  • @DendeDog Thank you, it's great to be useful

  • Despite the bad comments some people seemed to have given this video, I personally found it to be a great help. The video was clear and you could see everything that was going on. If you couldn't follow it you are incredibly thick.

  • @TexZ53 i myself thought the same

  • i tried that. but my lines are not smooth. they got jagged edges. wmid?

  • Comment removed

  • I watched this video 20 times and couldn't figure it out past the first 10 seconds. I click the pen tool with the paths selection, click the brush tool, select a brush size, then click back to the pen tool and try to select, "Stroke Path" and it's shadowed out. Lame tutorial without actually explaining what's going on.

  • For christ's sake, I won't say it again. Just search "Appendix" on wikipedia.

It didn't result useful to you, TOUGH LUCK.

BTW, you need some basic knowledge to use photoshop... you should try MS Paint.

  • @masamun3 Errr no you need to explain more, surley if you're doing a tutorial it says more about you when people don't understand.

  • @AlexDiss @AlexDiss

"errr" NO..... There's already a video explaining all the proccess, if you had bothered in looking where the video came from, you'd see THIS is a video reply for the tutorial.

If you don't understand yet, yeah, it says a lot about me.

  • @mmglv It's not his fault you're mentally retarded.

  • @mmglv it's happening the same to me.. i still don't get it..

  • this helped me :)

    ty!

  • this is a helpful video to those of you who commented .. but for people like me .. who have NEVER used photoshop before ... its a pain in the ass .. to not have any sound or subtitles to explain what the hell is going on ... or what i should be doing ... next time please add them ..

  • Just FYI. This is NOT a tutorial, this is an added video for a tutorial. Right below the video, you can see a link to "Tutorial: Lineart with Pen tool in PS." This is just an addition with a more detailed look at the details of pen tool...

  • La rompiste, es unos de los pocos tutos que se entiende bien todas las acciones, simple pero muy útil !

  • Thank you, this was really helpful. :) it had puzzled me how to make the ends of strokes not to disappear all the time.

  • this would be more useful, if the simulate pressure doesn't going transparent. if i put the minimum diameter to 0%.

  • .... That's what 0% means.... you know.

  • not really... there should be an option to make the brush size vanish only, and not the opacity.. and GIMP have it. my option in PS now is to erase the the end of the stroke..

  • Dude... Can you please at least take a look at the brush engine before sayin such things? You can change either opacity and size settings on their own. Did you even watch the video?

  • you know. if you have a brush or a pen and you apply pressure to it. the line of ink wont get more transparant, it gets the line thinner. and thats exactly what photoshop does. if you want it to go transparant you can set that up in the brush menu under shape dynamics --> fade.

hope that gives you the answer. i know GIMP is linux and that makes it "better" in some peopls eyes, but no its nowhere close to the functions of photoshop. and if you want realistic paint, get corel painter X

  • Thank you. This helped a lot.

  • Glad to be useful :)

    Thanks for watching

  • finaly i did it :) now i can do alot of my projects nicer ty for this help :)

  • tnx! this really helped me! ^^

  • Great help thank you

  • You're very much welcome, thanks for watching :)

  • When i press simulate pressure nothing changes for as if i didnt have it on can u explain plz

  • there are some answers through the comments, try reading, if that doesn't help, let me know and I'll make my best to aid.

  • Hi this is great, i would have never have known how to do this had i not seen this video. I do have a question regarding it though. Is there anyway to set photoshop to use the simulated brush stroke on the pen tool each time without having to right click and select it? Its a bit of a pain to have to set this everytime i create a path.

  • Of course, just set your brush to whatever you want, make your path, and once you've done it, hit 'B' to select brush, hit 'ENTER' to stroke it, and hit 'BACKSPACE' to delete your path, that should do it :P

  • You can also set a keyboard shortcut for ''stroke path'' but that way you won't avoid the confirmation popup window

  • Please reply. When I use my pen tool and do your thing, all my ends of the stroke path are round from my brush, but yours are nice and well sharp shaped at the end?

    How:D

  • set the brush (in shape dynamics) to PEN PRESSURE in ''control'' right below the first slider "size jitter" that should be enough

  • Got it, thnx.

  • thank you very very very much

  • i got al the things right and still if i do this i just get 3 black dots on the points i dont get a nice swirl like you guys can you plz help me?

  • I'm confused, you shouldn't be getting that result... Anyway try resetting all settings in photoshop, and try again. and don't forget to select BRUSH after you click on ''stroke path''

  • How did you get to all the stuff at 1:08 I can't figure out how to change it so it's similar to a brush (change thickness, etc.)

  • That's the brushes engine. You've gotta bring it up on Window - Brushes, or pressing F5

  • Thanks irt really help meeeeh...

    Thanks

  • No prob. Gracias a tí por ver el video :)

  • thaks alot dude.. THANKS!

  • thanks!!

  • Thanks to you for watching this :)

  • what resolution do you recommend when making a new project?

  • Resolution must be determined by the media... If you're making a project for viewing on a computer, just throw a 72dpi file with a resolution you feel comfy with. Try Using a bigger canvas that you'll shrink later in order to ''hide'' possible imperfections on lines or colors. For web, if you want a 1280x1024 res. drawing, try using at least 1500xwhatever file and then downsize and resample for viewing @ 1280. If you're gonna do a print work, that's a whole different world.

  • 300dpi (Pixel density for dummies like me) is the minimum acceptable for print media. The pixel width*height is up to you in base to your project. If you watch my ''windwaker vid.'' That's a 300dpi 2480x3500pixel file. A4
