I've avoided brand name sunscreen for YEARS. But as a ginger I have to be careful! I discovered that there are ORGANIC sunscreens! They are the perfect solution if the chemicals in other brands are a concern!
This is why you see farmers in Africa outside in the sun all day having zero skin cancer and African Americans getting it. Colored people need 6x more sun than the lighter.
this was really informative. As a person with medium-tone brown skin, I always wonder if sunscreen is necessary. My mom sunburns easily and is barely a shade lighter than me...and i actually experienced sunburn while hanging out in Australia, (I'm from Ohio). It's so confusing! I'm thinking about finding a Vitamin D supplement or eating more salmon lol so I can avoid both burning and vitamin deficiency. any thoughts?
@TheCarolynia Sure! Well naturally I have horrible acne and my face used to be a pizza-face but because I have oily skin I have a strict regime of some products that I must use on my face everyday! I wash my face with Placenta Soap which is actually made from the placenta flower. Then I use Clinique Toner #3 which regulates the oil on my face...keeping it moisturized but still dry. Then I use Clarisol Acne Marks Treatment Cream and I put that all over my face. After that I use (continued)
@TheMakeupExpress Labouratorie Remede Gel Matte Cream to keep my face neutral throughout the day and then I put a small layer of UV coat lotion on top because the Acne Marks treatment makes your skin super sensitive to the sun. At night I wash my face with the Placenta Soap and then I put a tea oil cream on my face that I got from Taiwan (contains inorganic mercury which is really powerful) so if you are fair don't use it. Then I wake up and almost all my blemishes disappear within a few days.
sunscreen does not fully block the UV rays from your skin. It gives you enough protection to allow further prevention of skin cancer. Skin cancer is the number one cancer in America. Tanning is horrible. Be proud of the skin color you have. Do not risk your life trying to tan. I have lost a family member from this disease, a disease that we can prevent. Sunscreen will not block vitamin d from entering your body.
@kkmwalker520 Yes sunscreen doesn't block completely the UV rays from entering your skin/body but it blocks most of it but sunscreen because sunscreen blocks most of the UV rays from touching your skin your body is less likely to produce the Vitamin D necessary to be healthy. You still need to have 15 minutes of pure sunlight, UV rays and all.
@TheMakeupExpress I am sure that most people do not put sunscreen on their skin everytime they walk into the sunlight. Many people get vitamin d without them knowing. 15 minutes is a very short amount of time. People can get this 15 minutes from walking to the car and then into a store. We must make sure people know how much time your skin needs the sun unprotected then. If it is over 15 minutes, they should be encouraged to wear sunscreen.
@kkmwalker520 You would be surprised that a lot of people do. And nowadays you have lotion that actually comes with sunscreen, or people who leave the house early for work or school stay inside all day and come home at night rarely getting outside for a few minutes. It's not just a small thing or I wouldn't feel the need to talk about it. Darker skinned people like me need to have their skin unprotected for 30 minutes and they should not be encouraged to put on sunscreen until after.
@kkmwalker520 well dang people need to enjoy the outdoors more often! Well it is spring time, so hopefully people who have watched this video remember your advice. thank you for your helpful videos.
I remember how it felt like to be a University student and drinking those energy drinks lol and then having caffeine withdrawls after finals in the summer lol. I don't go in the sun and tan unless I go on vacation, but I do take a vitamin D and calcium with magnesium supplement on top on my multivitamin. I started looking like those people looking like leather in waikiki when I came on vacation for 10 days cause I tan easily haha.still have tanlines from december lol.
@prettyblissful Haha yea I had major withdraws today. LOL Leather people are gross though seriously but I mean leather people...their skin just looses all its elasticity it just looks like their skin was replaced with leather...it's disturbing
thats why they are different volumes of SPF. I usually get spf30-50 if I dont use suncreen I'd use coco butter or aloevera. Hey the only reason why I use to stay inside because I have epilepsy and I was bright as a kid too.
@chickenlikingood Omg...The fact that people who get perms don't have brain damage just shows the amazing power of the human body! Sodium Hydroxide (NaOH) is the same chemical found in drain cleaners so that's just to give you a deal of how powerful and dangerous what you are putting in your hair. The amount they put in relaxers is just enough to break the bonds down...but it causes damage . Even in no-lye relaxers quanidine hydroxide is used which is an organic but volatile substance in bombs.
I thought you're still suppose to wear sunscreen but get about a 10 minutes break from it each day, just so your skin can get a bit of sun but still not get sun burnt. Also, I thought you can take certain food to get vitamin D. I thought you can eat canned fish to get vitamin D :O
@TheLollipopAhh Yea of course there are lot of foods that have small traces of Vitamin D. Not many have the amount needed by your body to stay healthy. Unless you eat canned fish everytime you go out into the sun and most likely it's not helping you out much. I never said not to wear sunscreen but I'm saying to take a break from it and it's not 10 minutes it's actually 15 minutes and it's 30 minutes if you are darker. You need to give your body time to produce Vitamin D.
@TheMakeupExpress oh right, thanks :) I never actually wear sun screen though, I mean my skin gets red after being in the sun for too long but it never HURTS like it is supposed to be if I get a sunburn so does that mean it's not a sunburn ? :/
@TheLollipopAhh Oh noo you should wear sunscreen though after at least 15 minutes. When you skin is getting red that means that you skin is trying to repair itself...that means that you are hurting your skin...but even though it doesn't hurt it is still skin damage and yes it is still a sunburn.
@TheMakeupExpress oh, I didn't know that. do you think when you have time, you can make a video on sunscreens ?? they have different degrees and numbers but I don't know what they mean and what the difference is ><
@marlayne123 Eek that sucks I know a lot of people are prone to burns because the lack of melanin in their skin makes it very easy for them to get sunburns. If you can don't lay out as I am against tanning but move around even if it playing volleyball or something. Give you skin some time to build Vitamin D but if you can't get Vitamin D supplements that way you won't be deficient in it.
will using sunscreen on my face and neck make me vitamind D deficient? i think the rest of my body being exposed would be enough to produce this vitamin
@natalusia371 As far as I know because I'm only relying on what as I know as a molecular major is that you have to leave your entire body exposed for at least 15 minutes and then put the sunscreen on because when the body produces the Vitamin D it makes a thin layer of this wet mildew on the surface of your skin
@CherryBlossoms808 I mean you should still wear sunscreen regardless but you still need to give your skin some times to get the sun's rays to create Vitamin D to stay healthy. If anything if you are worried about that those areas I would cover up sooner then everywhere else.
First all, i love smart black girls(:
Second i very much appreciate this video(: Hispanic myself, i thought i just needed to search some stuff up about skin and cosmetic care.
Thank you Lots :D
