when Aion launched WoW has 8M subscribers, now WoW has 12M subscribers how did Aion became WoW killer. The thing about WoW is, you can experience 99% of the game WITHOUT being forced to mindlessly grind. Call WoW "too easy" or "casual" or whatever you want - I have one lvl 80, I can come home from work, raid with guild for 2-3 hours, have dinner with family, live life.
Do people know WHY WoW crossed 11 million subscirbers? Because it caters to almost all people from varying lifestyles and backgrounds. MMO's like Aion require you to throw part of your life away in order to progress in the game.

Is there anyone here who has actually played the game past lvl 20? Anyone who has actually played Aion at ALL? Please tell me what separates it from the other korean grindfest MMO's? I went and bought Aion, played it, got over the graphics/animations/character-customizations fairly quickly and by the time I reached lvl 22 I had lost ALL interest. The game is designed to hype you up from lvl 1-15 so Aion gets good reviews from complete newbies who still can't get over the graphics/characters.

If you found WoW "too easy" and think that asian-style mindless grinding makes MMO's "harder" then feel free to keep playing Aion. WoW is probably the ONLY top-level MMO which caters to casuals - i.e. you can enjoy the game , reach max level and even reach endgame content WITHOUT needing to turn into a hardcore 10-hour-a-day asian grinder. There are 10 other MMO's like Aion, there are none like WoW.
After almost a year, the overall response on Aion forums+fansites has been negative. There have been massive "server merges" due to a severe lack of players, resulting in only 5-6 US servers remaining (one can only imagine what happened to all the people who had similar names).
PvE-wise the game has nothing amazing to offer. In desperation, Aion is resorting to shit like Veteran Rewards rewarding you stuff for every extra month you add to your game time.
@veninousme WoW probably has run its course but it is still home to many gamers (more than Aion atm), however; Aion is still developing as a game so egh... Btw, if IS a top game, Aion wouldn't be it. Atleast atm.

WoW is not a game, it's a world, created with a huge storyline behind. Warcraft is just too big universe, it can't be pwned by some another nicely looking mmo, that is based on WoW in many aspects anyway. But yea, character models are AMAZING in Aion, gotta say that.

I thought the game mechanics passed wow in how characters handle and how engaging combat is. the only advantage wow has over aion is character (not visual, but role/gameplaywise) cuztimization, wow has 10 classes 3 specs for 30 and aion has.... 8 but there are differeces is playstyles that cancel out similar class ex. ret, arms and blood. prot (both) and feral. and basically all 4 healers.

WoW was out long before Warhammer Online, LoTR Online or FF13. Everquest...maybe. Runescape, hell no, about a year ago RuneScape had a complete interface overhaul to make it look like a near-replica of WoW's interface.
And exactly which game is "competing" with WoW? Aion is just another korean grindfest (like Lineage) made for Koreans.

Tell me why should any games get killed by any other game, The games are perfect in each of their own ways, and all games got flaws and if you can live with those flaws then good for you but some people can't. For instance lets take another game. Warhammer online. I was ready to buy it on release but when i had played it for the first mounth or so I did not like the way the chars moved at all. So quit that game. And some like it alot and will hate on my commet but why would i care.

The opposite holds true for Aion, I could spend an entire YEAR grinding levels/professions on Aion and still make absolutely horrible progress. Aion is a good MMO, except that everything takes 50x longer than it should have. Considering I have other shit to do in life, I simply don't have that much time to throw away on doing mindblowingly-repetetive tasks just to get 1 level.

I find bothe games enjoyable, the only downer with Aion is really they're lore, I don't find the Aion lore very entertaining. And the emoting system is neither very good, which makes World of Warcraft a clear winner when it comes to RP perspective.

The thing about WoW is, you can experience 99% of the game WITHOUT being forced to mindlessly grind. Call WoW "too easy" or "casual" or whatever you want - I have one lvl 80, I can come home from work, raid with guild for 2-3 hours, have dinner with family, live life.
Do people know WHY WoW crossed 11 million subscirbers? Because it caters to almost all people from varying lifestyles and backgrounds. MMO's like Aion require you to throw part of your life away in order to progress in the game.

Is there anyone here who has actually played the game past lvl 20? Anyone who has actually played Aion at ALL? Please tell me what separates it from the other korean grindfest MMO's? I went and bought Aion, played it, got over the graphics/animations/character-customizations fairly quickly and by the time I reached lvl 22 I had lost ALL interest. The game is designed to hype you up from lvl 1-15 so Aion gets good reviews from complete newbies who still can't get over the graphics/characters.

If you found WoW "too easy" and think that asian-style mindless grinding makes MMO's "harder" then feel free to keep playing Aion. WoW is probably the ONLY top-level MMO which caters to casuals - i.e. you can enjoy the game , reach max level and even reach endgame content WITHOUT needing to turn into a hardcore 10-hour-a-day asian grinder. There are 10 other MMO's like Aion, there are none like WoW.

After almost a year, the overall response on Aion forums+fansites has been negative. There have been massive "server merges" due to a severe lack of players, resulting in only 5-6 US servers remaining (one can only imagine what happened to all the people who had similar names).
PvE-wise the game has nothing amazing to offer. In desperation, Aion is resorting to shit like Veteran Rewards rewarding you stuff for every extra month you add to your game time.
Just enjoy Aion while it lasts.

WoW is not a game, it's a world, created with a huge storyline behind. I thought the game mechanics passed wow in how characters handle and how engaging combat is. the only advantage wow has over aion is character (not visual, but role/gameplaywise) cuztimization, wow has 10 classes 3 specs for 30 and aion has.... 8 but there are differeces is playstyles that cancel out similar class ex. ret, arms and blood. prot (both) and feral. and basically all 4 healers.

WoW was out long before Warhammer Online, LoTR Online or FF13. Everquest...maybe. Runescape, hell no, about a year ago RuneScape had a complete interface overhaul to make it look like a near-replica of WoW's interface.
And exactly which game is "competing" with WoW? Aion is just another korean grindfest (like Lineage) made for Koreans.

Aion is one MASSIVE timesink. Everything from professions to grinding levels, it's just repeat x1000 to reach the next level. If I play WoW for 1 month, I'll have to play Aion for 1 YEAR to experience the same amount of content.

The opposite holds true for Aion, I could spend an entire YEAR grinding levels/professions on Aion and still make absolutely horrible progress. Aion is a good MMO, except that everything takes 50x longer than it should have. Considering I have other shit to do in life, I simply don't have that much time to throw away on doing mindblowingly-repetetive tasks just to get 1 level.

@zhantonio If Aion coppied Wow, Wow coppied all the Korean MMOs before it ;/ The fact that 2 games are similar doesn't mean that one was coppied from another, would you say that WoW coppied GW?

@Lukashenko3 GW was released a year after wow i guess them Koreans have time machines now to copy off things from the future right? the only thing that wow could have copied off of was ragnarok and thats highly unlikely or maybe everquest but again highly unlikely wow is absolutely nothing like Korean mmo's

@rezistorXG Yeah that makes no sense.. if gw came out a year after WoW why would they need a time machine to copy something from the future. I'm just assuming if you're talking about WoW and GW. Also, GW is an American game. Their publisher is just NCSoft

@zhantonio World of warcraft copied aion! The 'new' stats comparing system they added during wotlk was in aion from the very start! thats one point where you are wrong. Another is in Cataclysm they are making characters so special combat animations during character creation - JUST LIKE AION HAS BEEN DOING FROM THE START! :O

"Aion = WoW Killer. WoW got pwned!" then why are all NA aion servers sitting at low pop with more people canceling there subs every month, Why is NCwest being force to merge half there servers with 1.9? Awnser Aion failed, Truth is blizzard has way to much buget for development, The only "wow killer" will be blizzards next mmo.

@Lokivoid WoW is already dead. There's MMO's out there with populations which make it look like Aion. I don't expect a MMO from Blizzard any time soon since they take years to develop obsolete looking games. Aion sucks, but so does WoW.

Odd last i check blizzard had 11million sub i would call that quite far from dead. I dont know what server blocks you have been looking at but NA servers are quite far from dead. As for your obsolete comment, you do realize warcraft currently use a gamebyro version that is infact newer then the "dated" Cryengine aion is useing. Cryengine as in farcry 1 the engine is roughly 8 year's old has shit poor netcodeing and was never designed for anything more then benchmarking in 2003).
