my girl-friend owns a bullmastiff,rott and neapoletan mastiff,all 3 are very good in guarding the big (10 acres) property but the neapoletan is the best of all 3,down here (naples) you can leave the gate open with mastiff inside and you are sure he never walks the gate,they like to stay inside,watching....

Boxers are not proper guard dogs, they are more of a watch dog & they cant guard in a cold country or cold place as they really hate cold conditions.Stick with the best German breeds like GSD and the Rottweiler or the English Bullmastiff which is alot better than Boxers at guard/attack and they can cope alot better in extremely cold conditions

@TSUKIRO666 ive had 2 rottweilers my whole life. the 1st was too friendly but the 2nd was perfect. he was super tough. toughest dog i ever owned next to a bad ass chow i use to own. fast, strong, never felt pain, wasnt afraid of anything and had tons of heart. we lived in a bad area at the time and ppl broke in but never got out lol. rottweilers are amazing guard dogs and it was no surprise it was number 2. i dont think police can handle rotties so they usually have shepards lol.

Best this or best that... It doesn't mean every dog in that specific breed knows how to proteckt the way it should protect. It takes along time to get a good dog to protect in control. Before you can define what a good protection dog is you have to take a temperment test on each individual dog and its handler, then a qualified judge can give a fair grade. How good is a protection dog if it bites the wrong person or keeps biting when you want it to stop. Is that a good protection dog?

This is mostly a list of aggressive, hard looking dogs. Chuck any piece of poisoned meat and most of these dogs will eat it and it cant be trained out of them or they are too big / aggressive for serious defensive work. The best overall is the Dutch Shepherd and Malinois which most police forces and military are now using. Best balance of brains and toughness. This could be a good list for attack dogs however but not guard dogs.
Fila Sao Miguel, Cani Pertiatzu, Ca de Bou, Alano Espanol are my favorites for Personal Protection work. Rafeiro do Alentejo, Cao de Gado de Transmontano, Estrela Mountain Dog, Fila Brasileiro, Bully Kutta are my favorite for a property guardian.
The jump to the occasion and actually attack a person instinct belongs to the mastiff type. Am. Bulldogs are still wary of people but more friendly. Pitbulls are very people friendly in general. I've owned a mastiff, an Am. bulldog, and a couple pits. No hype, just my experience. There is a reason why guard dogs are often bred with mastiffs and it isn't just for size. Pits and Bulldogs have more drive, and better health. They are less protective but very capable and easier to train.
How about Chow Chow? They are one of the few guard dogs that are suited for apartment living and they eat much less than the average dog of the same weight. With their thick fur and thick skin they have an armor on. They don't slobber all over your house like a lot of these other breeds do either.
Great dogs :) I grew up with a Shelty and a Rottweiler, now we have a Boerboel! Awesome dogs, :D And btw, 2:03, looks kinda wrong around the crotchola area if you catch my drift.
I have a Doberman, remember these dogs were bred in Germany by a dog catcher to have a mixture of the best parts of the best dogs in the world, so he could catch any stary dogs of any breed and get the rewards; Greyhound feet, legs and deep chest for stamina & speed, the interlect of a manchester terrior, strength of a german shephard...just saying Dobermans are a pretty complete package for what they needed to do....
I have a Cane Corso and let me tell ya he is an amazeing guard dog. A guy in my neighbourhood was high on shrooms or pcp attacket a buddy of mine. I went out lookin for him with my dog ceaser, ceaser is only 1 yr old.I ran into him and he attacked me with a fence post a metal post. Ceaser stood up on the end of the leash and went nuts, i let him off and he pinned this fool down. Great dogs.

in the states Bullmastiffs are the top guard dogs, because we Americans do not know of Caucasians, and Armenian Gamprs. These dogs can take on anything and can fight off multiple wolfs, a bear, mountain lion, etc.

This is mostly a list of aggressive, hard looking dogs. Chuck any piece of poisoned meat and most of these dogs will eat it and it cant be trained out of them or they are too big / aggressive for serious defensive work. The best overall is the Dutch Shepherd and Malinois which most police forces and military are now using. Best balance of brains and toughness. This could be a good list for attack dogs however but not guard dogs.

Fila Sao Miguel, Cani Pertiatzu, Ca de Bou, Alano Espanol are my favorites for Personal Protection work. Rafeiro do Alentejo, Cao de Gado de Transmontano, Estrela Mountain Dog, Fila Brasileiro, Bully Kutta are my favorite for a property guardian.

The jump to the occasion and actually attack a person instinct belongs to the mastiff type. Am. Bulldogs are still wary of people but more friendly. Pitbulls are very people friendly in general. I've owned a mastiff, an Am. bulldog, and a couple pits. No hype, just my experience. There is a reason why guard dogs are often bred with mastiffs and it isn't just for size. Pits and Bulldogs have more drive, and better health. They are less protective but very capable and easier to train.

How about Chow Chow? They are one of the few guard dogs that are suited for apartment living and they eat much less than the average dog of the same weight. With their thick fur and thick skin they have an armor on. They don't slobber all over your house like a lot of these other breeds do either.

I have a Doberman, remember these dogs were bred in Germany by a dog catcher to have a mixture of the best parts of the best dogs in the world, so he could catch any stary dogs of any breed and get the rewards; Greyhound feet, legs and deep chest for stamina & speed, the interlect of a manchester terrior, strength of a german shephard...just saying Dobermans are a pretty complete package for what they needed to do....

I have a Cane Corso and let me tell ya he is an amazeing guard dog. A guy in my neighbourhood was high on shrooms or pcp attacket a buddy of mine. I went out lookin for him with my dog ceaser, ceaser is only 1 yr old.I ran into him and he attacked me with a fence post a metal post. Ceaser stood up on the end of the leash and went nuts, i let him off and he pinned this fool down. Great dogs.

in the states Bullmastiffs are the top guard dogs, because we Americans do not know of Caucasians, and Armenian Gamprs. These dogs can take on anything and can fight off multiple wolfs, a bear, mountain lion, etc.
Armenian Gampr is a short hair version of the Caucasian mountain dog....then Bullmastiffs...
And to the person who thinks the german shepherd is.......the skinny doberman has a better bite, and is far more dangerous than the GSD.

Most of the fights between pits and LGD's consist of a pit getting chewed on for the majority of the fight and when the pit handler doesn't stop the fight the pit will end up dying simply because it annoyed the CAO , Kangal until the CAO, Kangal gets pissed off enough to kill the pit . And I was told this by a CO and CAO breeder from Tula Russia who also tests his dogs .
