In Left 4 Dead you are either a survivor or infected (This applies for versus mode unless you fiddle with the console in single player). You cannot become infected with the virus and turn into an infected as a survivor because you are immune. Before the game starts, you are in the lobby you'll get to pick whether you want to be an infected or a survivor. When the game starts, you play on one of those teams, and when you finish the level you'll switch once. You have up to 4 players on each team.

You're not supposed to be able to play as Infected in the demo released for public play.

It was considered a loose cheat and has been disabled by Valve.

By the way, this is from a freaking convention of something. They usually allow you to get more then you would if you weren't there.

In my opinion the existing half life 2 zombie mods aren't good, the only one that i enjoyed for a while was Gmod Zombie mod. Somehow the others doesn't offer enough co-op feel or.. well it's just not right.

L4D is very kiddy care bear with its gameplay. With the time I got to play it at the Valve event in LA, it came out to seem like they made the game for those who wanna feel like they're putting an effort. I never lost ammo, you can be beaten to death for two minutes straight by a gang of 14 or so zombies while a boss zombie holds you down and still be able to be picked up right after.

I enjoyed it, but its not what I wanted.

I hear you. Humans are over-powered. I'd like to see some 1 hit infection and death. If you get scratched you're dead. Or undead, as it is. Then you could have checkpoints/rescue stations so that if someone in the team reaches these checkpoints the dead players can return to the game as a new character/survivor.And also,old zombie lore states you can only kill them with a shot or blow to the head or with fire.These zombies die even though people have awful aim and spam bullets into their chests.

Brutal game play was in CS:S, I don't know why they don't add it for L4D.

Perhaps it was just like that in the demo because they want casual gamers to buy it expecting to play a good game. Or maybe you were just playing on Easy difficulty.

We were told it was the finished product aside from some minor bugs and tweaks that wouldn't probably be noticed while playing. The game was played with any actual difficulty setting since it was all done while playing. If your team is low on ammo and hurt, very little zombies will appear. If you have lotsa ammo and just rushing through like maniacs, then they lay the zombies on you hard. And to think "oh, well mods will fix it" is a total copout. A game shouldn't need mods to be playable.

The AI system, from my observation and from what you're saying, works with your gameplay, not your game experience exactly. You should be able to pump up the difficulty or adjust the settings to make humans die faster.

And I was not saying that the game is unplayable, I meant that they will improve the experience.

Death was a rare thing for me. You can be beaten senseless for an hour straight and still have someone come and lift you up as if you just tripped. Not to mention the many times that the "rage" went after boxes and paint cans instead of us(the humans). I'll never say I hate the game, in fact, I have it on pre-order. But it just wasn't the crazy game I first seen in early previews.
