  • For me The Best World War I movie in color with "The Blue Max" 1966 John Guillermin and "Aces High" 1976 Jack Gold !!!

  • History is all wrong.

Gorring did not join Jasta 11 until after MvR's death.

The only plane brought down in that fight was MvR and his Red Dr1.

Jasta should have been in Dr 1's, not Pfalzs and Fokker D7's (Which hadn't been delivered to the front yet).

BUT at least the planes are flying like planes instead of jets as has been happening with the CGI movies.

  • How come the model airplanes they used always get to the top of the loop and then blow up? It's so unrealistic!

  • is alright, just - how did the plane land when the pilot was shot dead? and, even if the plane luckily happened to land, how did it stay stable in the air for enough time for the british pilot to land his own plane?

  • where can i download this movie?????

    or buy????

  • Great scenes! However, it took more shots to down a plane back then, and engine explosions weren't actually that common. It was rare for anyone to down more than one or two planes in one flight as he would have ran out of ammo before then. Richthofen was also, as has been said before, shot down by ground-fire, though Brown did manage a few shots at him. Also, Richthofen wouldn't have made HALF the mistakes this movie portrays, especially the one at around 6:25.

  • i wonder what he was really like. After reading the translations of his journals, he appears to have a rather dry & funny wit.

He realised the pointlessness of it all, yet upheld the highest Prussian military traditions.

He respected his enemies and fought using his head...

At least thats the way he comes across, who really knows? there are so many tragedies in war, but sure one is, that it takes a war to create such icons.

  • Hi

I've searched this film for many time.

    thanks.

Doesn't matter the historical accurace, I really like it.

  • How can he fly and land even when he is dead?

  • what the hell was that

  • i dont get it

  • how did he land he was dead

  • Oh mein Gott, stupid hollyshitian anti-german propaganda movie, i`m sick and tired of all these bullshits they want us to believe... ALL CRAPS!!! Be serious please, the Red Baron was a God, don`t tell me he would have sat like that with a jerk on his tale... STUPID AMERICANS, you make me sick...

  • "said caput and died" Never happened, written accounts prove otherwise that he didnt say that. he was dead when they pulled him from the cockpit.

  • Good dogfight scene, but Brown's squadron flew Sopwith Camels, not SE5s as depicted here.

  • it's a marvelous movie. Corman didn't get the credit he deserved. The flying scenes IMHO are superior to the Blue Max. True John Phillip Law is too tall 6'7" to play the Red Baron who was 5'9" and Oswald Boelcke & Anthony Fokker weren't old men as shown here. All were around the same age and under 25.

    +

  • historicly incorrect, brown didn't shoot him down

  • I don't know why people give this movie such a bad reputation, when its a movie, not a documentary. The flying scenes in this movie are excellent, and the acting isn't so bad.

  • the problem with this scene is that...THERE IS NO BATTLE ON THE GROUND! airplanes flying over peaceful fields, as though there isn't a war!

  • ohh man ist das schlech !

    typischer hollywood schwachsinn!

  • at 6:24 Baron would never make that mistake and the fight should have been faster. PLUS! they celebrated befor he touched ground!! HOLLYWOOD BULLSHIT!!!

  • Killsya1: Yes, that's a greenhorn mistake, turning inside someone you're chasing. But the celebrating is an intentional overlapping of timeframes, something VERY common in movies. I WOULD point out that the plane was not guarded intact by Aussie soldiers, but torn apart by souvenir hunters. Eh, it's a movie - chill.

  • Agreed on the stupid move.

The celebration before MvR crashes is a story telling element, sort of a 'flash forward' instead of a flashback.

  • Saw this movie years ago, it sucked in so many levels it's hard to describe. The book was pretty bad too.

Can't wait to see the new Red Baron movie from Germany.

  • RED BARON in cinema!

  • the red baron wasnt kileed by brown he was killed by a australian machine gunner he was hit in his side but wasnt killed and told the soliders to see if he died he said caput and died

  • gunslinger014: If you used punctuation, maybe we'd have a better idea of what you are trying to say.

  • They still really don't know who killed him! and he was dead on impact! that is known

  • Don't diss gunslinger too much he is actually right....the red baron was killed by ground fire but what use would that have been to the english propaganda machine...dont get mad at me either, we all have propaganda machines.

  • thats, right! The Aussi's name was Snowy Evans.

  • Stupid Hollywood version of pure bullshit.

  • boy such sloooowness.. and they were on their machine guns all day

  • if you mean the planes they are supposed to be slow.

  • lol not all of them were MASSACRED as depicted there :P
