I have had both an hands down ,in my opinion, lg is tne best. The samsung model is slow processing wise. Thats beeny experience anyway. Also the samsung feels cheaper made to me. Anyway thats my opinion an experience with the two.
It's $100 on Amazon.. I might have to drop the money and get it and leave ATT. I'm pretty much paying $45 for a really basic phone, when I could be paying less for an Android phone. And a good entry one, at that.
Ive had the optimus v and the slider but they got really sucky so i decided to try something else and i ordered the intercept from amazon and ill be getting it tomorrow but i dont know if i did right
I have used a Samsung Intercept and when Navigation stopped working in the middle of driving down the Interstate, I had to upgrade and bought the LG Optimus V. I am very pleased with my decision. The Samsung Intercept took about 2.5 minutes to boot. The LG Optimus V? About 25 seconds.
The Intercept was a good phone but like you mentioned, the soft keys on the front were quite unresponsive and it force-closed quite often. The Youtube videos sometimes never loaded either. I'm glad to have the Optimus :D
@IBlowHyDro420 Glad I could help! I've had my Optimus for almost a year now and still love it. Virgin Mobile has added a few new phones to their lineup and I still think the Optimus is the best bang for the buck -- but I haven't had a chance to try the Optimus Slider yet. Good luck with your search!
If you are activating a Virgin Mobile phone for the first time and enter my kickback code on the official Virgin Mobile website, we both get 60 free bonus minutes. 9YFHN07V is the code. The 0 in the kickback code is a zero, not the letter O. Happy Holidays!
I might be getting NET10 - LG Optimus Q has anyone had this Phone?
I know alot of people are saying the LG Version signal is bad because of its sprint network but Has anyone tried Net-10? i have heard they use verizon which is good connection in my area - Any feedback is appreciated plz reply -thx
I might get the LG Optimus Slider for Christmas from Virgin Mobile, is the LG Optimus Slider just like the LG Optimus V? I was told that the LG Optimus V has 2.2 for like web browsing i think but the LG Optimus Slider has the new 2.3, Should I get it?
@GamingNation29 well i hear there bassically the same rather then the slider obvisully has a key board and runs 2.3 but i would just go with the v because its cheaper and juts about the same phone
idk im still getting the intercept one i mean u just need phone so u can text and call your friends and take pics and go on fb oh yea and listen to music idk bout you but thats all i want it for :)
@bigmiley11 dont get it i have it. Mine doesnt even virbrate its so slow that you cant even update your own status on facebook. Its good for the first few months then you just hate it afterwards
@racergirl331 thier idiots lg rumore sux but the best phone out of the lg rumore, samsung instinct, and lg optimus v, is lg optimus v by far even better then the lg optumis m
@RacerGurl331 ive had the rumor touch for almost a year. i havent had ONE problem with it. at. all. my friend has had both, and he hates the intercept. apparently it freezes a lot.. but ive never had the experience myself. im debating on the intercept.
Reading through all the comments tells me that the Optimus is better than the intercept by a long shot. I like the keypad on it though. Whatever it's time to move on to the touchscreen.
It is very easy to txt with the optimus. In fact I wrote this comment with my optimus. Its kinda hard at first but once you get the hang of it. It becomes very easy.lol
@kidlude If you hold the phone sideways in landscape mode the on-screen keyboard is larger, and it's pretty easy to type with both thumbs. I think a physical keyboard is preferable if you do a huge amount of text input, so that is one strong point for the Intercept. But in my opinion the Optimus is better in almost every other way, and that makes up for the lack of a physical keyboard for my use.
i had the intercept and HATED IT. It was slow, constantly freezing, didnt do things it "supposidly" should have done, etc. Afew weeks ago i think I purchaced the Optimus. So far I have LOVED IT. It has been my most FAVORITE phone that I have had. Dont waste your time or for that matter, MONEY on the Intercept. Buy the Optimus♥
Every one I know with the intercept hates it, do not buy that phone you will regret it. Its allways freezing and being very slow. I'm going to purchase the optimus today. ;3
The Samsung Intercept is some GARBAGE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! IN THE LAST 6MONTHS, I HAD TO SWITCH THIS PHONE 4 TIMES!! BECAUSE OF ALL TE GLITCHES.. IF IT WASN'T FOR THAT, THE PHONE WOULD BE AWESOME..
Get anything but this piece of shit samsung Intercept. i only got it cuz at the time the price was better and it had a keyboard but i hate it now it freezes and i have to restart which takes forever and the apps wont work sometimes it's honestly a pain in the ass. I saw reviews that said it was bad but i said hey give it a shot and i honestly would rather switch back to my lg rumor 2 at least it does what it's suppsed to do SMDH
Hey dont get the Optimus because thousands of people get problems with the network network is constantly going down every day.. i dont know if they have the same issues with samsung..
@BoysTurf Interesting - I had not heard about this. For what it's worth, I haven't had any problems this severe with my Optimus. I've unexpectedly lost 3g connectivity in strong-signal areas maybe 3 or 4 times, but switching to Airplane Mode and then switching back to regular mode seems to fix it.
@lesspaulv19 See parts 2 and 3 of my series, linked from this video, for more info. I prefer the Optimus, and the general consensus in the comments is that most people agree. The Intercept has a slide-out keyboard, which is a key feature for some people, but in nearly all other respects I've found the Optimus to be a faster, more reliable, and more pleasant phone to use.
Swipe is supported on the Samsung, except it is a different app called Slideit which in my opinion works better than swipe, I have delt with both and I would choose Slide it over Swipe ANYDAY it is a one time fee of 5.99 but way worth it.
Thanks so much for the vids. I wanted a manual keyboard so badly, but the optimus was so worth it. but sywpe and voice texting made up for it. This is my first smartphone, and now I can pull out my phone when my friend pulls out their Evo. I had an ipod touch, with limited wi fi connections. But now I'm connected to the web all the time. BUY THE OPTIMUS V, YOU WONT REGRET IT! ! ! !
@thinnishjonny24 Yes, sadly the price of the Optimus has gone up since I posted the video. Still a fairly good deal at that price though, in my opinion (though it was extremely compelling at $149!) People occasionally post on here when stores have sales on the phone.
@thinnishjonny24 Radio shack had the Optimus V for 149.99 again last week, also if you have the app called foursquare on your phone you can get a 20% off.
now that the intercept has the 2.2 update, would you still say you'd choose the optimus over it? alot of people say the 2.2 update changed their mind to going with the intercept, so whats your take on it?

ALL YOU NEED IS THE APK WITH THE DEVICE RECOGNITION REMOVED ... MY EMAIL IS STC6971@YAHOO.COM IF YOU WANT THE FILE ... SO IT DOESNT WORK ON DROID2 DROID PRO OR INCREDIBLE2 FOR ME
I agree that the Optimus V is significantly better overall than the Intercept. I have Android 2.2 on both and the Optimus speed is still better. But, I miss a few features that the Intercept had that the Optimus does not:
On the intercept, there is a built-in notch for a carrying strap, auto-brightness, & slide-out keyboard
im sooo torn...i like my keyboard but the optimus just seems like its a better phone!!! but i am going back a forward on this too im not sure i want and all touch screen phone just yet
@NFS13EPIC Yeah but if you knew anything, youd know that although the optimus only has a 600mhz processor, it has a gpu dedicated to running video and games, which in turn leaves the 600 mhz to handling anything else. Which basically in theory makes it 1,300 mhz
@NFS13EPIC Only in the beginning (What I've heard) Watch the intercept versus optimus speed test. You'll be blown away, its just piss in the wind, it isnt even funny and its not because I'm biased, theres no question that the optimus is better and youll see what I mean :P
@soccergod561234 Well im not getting it tho. Im saving for there new android coming this year. Its going to have 1 ghz cpu and 5 mp cam ( i think with flash). A better screen and mini hdmi and etc....
@NFS13EPIC Yep im looking at that phone too. I own the rumor touch as of right now -.- but I hope I can hold off of buying a phone until the thrasher (I think?) comes out in juily
Actually the Optimus has better specs than the Intercept. The Intercept may have more MHz, but the actual processor it uses is horrible. The Optimus uses a Qualcomm processor which uses 600 MHz to run everything and a 200 MHz Adreno GPU to relieve stress on the processor. The Intercept has that one weak 800 MHz processor doing everything. The Optimus also has twice as much RAM. No version of Android can ever make the Intercept better than the Optimus.
@NFS13EPIC Yes, the Motorola Triumph has the same GPU as the Optimus, too. Just a little fun fact. Have they released the pricing yet? With any luck it will be at the same price point the Intercept started at.
@NFS13EPIC But the Optimus does take advantage of 2 chips in it's processor, so it uses one for video and one for data transfer. The Intercept on the other hand combines this all into one chip which slows them both down. A higher number doesn't tell you anything.
I make calls to another country using prepaid phone cards, let say you buy a prepaid phone card for $5, you spend your prepaid cards and the airtime of your phone at the same time? I have the $25 plan which gives only 300 minutes a month, and the rest unlimited... please help, thanks
How do you know that they're upgrading their towers, and what are we to expect from the Upgrade? . . . Did the Intercept get their 2.2 Froyo update?!?!
@mikebingham34 Been using it for about 2 months now. Occasionally my 3g connection seems to drop out even though I have plenty of signal. Rebooting the phone often helps. It's annoying, but most of the time it works fine.
@ivarneli That was due to the VM outages that was going on. Sprint was upgrading the towers due to the massive amount of people that joined VM due to the Optimus. All phones was affect by this.
I have the LG Rumor touch and was thinking of upgrading to one of these, mainly for the better camera and wi-fi. How easy is the SWYPE to get used to?
@nfarnham2008 Im with you on that one, im on the Rumor Touch too! I like this phone, i had it since summer of last year and to be honest i loved it when i got it. But its kind of burnt out now, like lost interest in it, i really wanna get one of these phones! I want to get the Optimus V as i've been hearing better reviews about it.
@abhorentsoul1 Yeah, although I'm good with the Rumor touch on screen pad for texting, so maybe the SWYPE wont be so bad, because you can disable it and just have a full qwerty keyboard on the screen.
omg since you have 2 phones would you like to give me the one that you dont like !? i am dieing for a phone you have no idea. u would be an amazing person if u did that
If you are activating the Optimus V for the first time and enter my kickback code on the official website, we both get 60 free bonus minutes. 9YFHN07V is the code. The 0 in the kickback code is a zero, not the letter O.
A shockingly lucid, coherent review- what did you do with the youtube i'm used to? You know, the crappy handheld shaky webcam videos of stoned people.
Your comparison videos were great. It helped in my final decision to get the LG Optimus. I almost couldn't find it anywhere. VirginMobile was out, best buy out, sprint stores and target doesn't even carry it yet. Then I found it at the last place I thought to check, radioshack. The guy at radioshack said that a lot of people return the Samsung Intercept to the store all the time for a refund or to trade for another phone.
why would the intercept cost more, if everything on the optimus seems better? i'm just wondering because i have the intercept and i'm debating on buying the optimus.
@mrbdog5258 The Intercept's hardware keyboard may account for some of the cost difference, but it still surprises me that the Optimus is as cheap as it is given the higher screen specs and seemingly better performance. If you have a Sprint store nearby, you can try out the Optimus and the Intercept with the 2.2 upgrade in person and decide for yourself. Or you can buy the Optimus at Target, try it, and return it within 90 days (with activation code) if you don't think it's a worthwhile upgrade.
The Intercept is going to kill the Optimus with the froyo update. I had the optimus and I hated it! The screen sucks and the lack of a qwerty keyboard annoyed me.
@elementalfiend The Optimus has a resolution of 320 x 480 = 153,600 pixels. The Intercept has a resolution of 240 x 400 = 96,000 pixels. 153,600/96,000 = 1.6, or 60% more. The screens have similar physical dimensions (the Intercept screen is slightly narrower), but the pixels on the Optimus are packed more densely. This results in sharper text on the Optimus. (For comparison, the iPhone 4's retina display packs 960 x 640 pixels into a screen that is only a bit larger, which is why it's so sharp)
This video made me decide! I'm going with the optimus v. In my opinion, all around it's just better than the intercept. My friend has the intercept and it lags, a lot, and is just way slower than the optimus. Also the hardware keys on the bottom of the optimus are a plus for me, because the touch sensitive buttons on the intercept just annoy me because I have to press it like twice before it works. The swipe texting is cool as well. I can't wait to get my optimus!
Try installing Sprint's 2.2 Froyo update to the Intercept(it works) and then doing another comparison. This doesn't seem so fair. Froyo is way faster than Eclair. I noticed a huge difference when updating my Virgin Mobile Samsung Intercept.
The intercept is a piece of shit

Im still debating do i get the intercept or the optimus? Someone help me decide and give me a few reasons why? Thanks.
bboyzen1 10 months ago
@gino360 the 2.2 update fixed it so Optimus is shit cause it has a shity cpu runing at 600mhz vs intercept 800mhz
NFS13EPIC 10 months ago
@NFS13EPIC ya 2.2 made it faster and also it has a keyboard for faster texting
2pluz4is7 10 months ago
@NFS13EPIC Yeah but if you knew anything, youd know that although the optimus only has a 600mhz processor, it has a gpu dedicated to running video and games, which in turn leaves the 600 mhz to handling anything else. Which basically in theory makes it 1,300 mhz
soccergod561234 8 months ago
@soccergod561234 it still lags tho i heard it still lagy to even play angry birds.
NFS13EPIC 8 months ago
@NFS13EPIC Only in the beginning (What I've heard) Watch the intercept versus optimus speed test. You'll be blown away, its just piss in the wind, it isnt even funny and its not because I'm biased, theres no question that the optimus is better and youll see what I mean :P
soccergod561234 8 months ago
@soccergod561234 Well im not getting it tho. Im saving for there new android coming this year. Its going to have 1 ghz cpu and 5 mp cam ( i think with flash). A better screen and mini hdmi and etc....
NFS13EPIC 8 months ago
@NFS13EPIC Yep im looking at that phone too. I own the rumor touch as of right now -.- but I hope I can hold off of buying a phone until the thrasher (I think?) comes out in juily
soccergod561234 8 months ago
@NFS13EPIC
FritoDoritos 8 months ago
@FritoDoritos well theres a new android phone coming 1ghz hdmi 5 mgps cam. and its 4 in screen. BUYING IT LOL
NFS13EPIC 8 months ago
@NFS13EPIC Yes, the Motorola Triumph has the same GPU as the Optimus, too. Just a little fun fact. Have they released the pricing yet? With any luck it will be at the same price point the Intercept started at.
FritoDoritos 8 months ago
@NFS13EPIC But the Optimus does take advantage of 2 chips in it's processor, so it uses one for video and one for data transfer. The Intercept on the other hand combines this all into one chip which slows them both down. A higher number doesn't tell you anything.

do I spend my airtime minutes if...?
I make calls to another country using prepaid phone cards, let say you buy a prepaid phone card for $5, you spend your prepaid cards and the airtime of your phone at the same time? I have the $25 plan which gives only 300 minutes a month, and the rest unlimited... please help, thanks

have you had 3g troubles with the optimus?
mikebingham34 11 months ago
@mikebingham34 Been using it for about 2 months now. Occasionally my 3g connection seems to drop out even though I have plenty of signal. Rebooting the phone often helps. It's annoying, but most of the time it works fine.
ivarneli 11 months ago
@ivarneli That was due to the VM outages that was going on. Sprint was upgrading the towers due to the massive amount of people that joined VM due to the Optimus. All phones was affect by this.

@MatthewOnRS Optimus, unless the hardware keyboard is a must-have for you. Part 3 of my video series explains my choice.

I have the LG Rumor touch and was thinking of upgrading to one of these, mainly for the better camera and wi-fi. How easy is the SWYPE to get used to?
nfarnham2008 1 year ago
@nfarnham2008 Im with you on that one, im on the Rumor Touch too! I like this phone, i had it since summer of last year and to be honest i loved it when i got it. But its kind of burnt out now, like lost interest in it, i really wanna get one of these phones! I want to get the Optimus V as i've been hearing better reviews about it.
omghaxzorzz 1 year ago
@nfarnham2008 same here... I love the keyboard so im a litte hesitant bout the no keyboard...
abhorentsoul1 11 months ago
@abhorentsoul1 Yeah, although I'm good with the Rumor touch on screen pad for texting, so maybe the SWYPE wont be so bad, because you can disable it and just have a full qwerty keyboard on the screen.
nfarnham2008 11 months ago
does it have 3g
kangodarkblade 1 year ago
@kangodarkblade They both have 3g, but the optimus has rev.A a faster form of 3g than the intercept's rev.0 3g.

If you are activating the Optimus V for the first time and enter my kickback code on the official website, we both get 60 free bonus minutes. 9YFHN07V is the code. The 0 in the kickback code is a zero, not the letter O.

seancamlive 1 year ago
Your comparison videos were great. It helped in my final decision to get the LG Optimus. I almost couldn't find it anywhere. VirginMobile was out, best buy out, sprint stores and target doesn't even carry it yet. Then I found it at the last place I thought to check, radioshack. The guy at radioshack said that a lot of people return the Samsung Intercept to the store all the time for a refund or to trade for another phone.

i personally think think tht the intercept is better because of the more advanced processor and ram but i think all in all both phones r great
iimonsterpiczs 1 year ago
why would the intercept cost more, if everything on the optimus seems better? i'm just wondering because i have the intercept and i'm debating on buying the optimus.
mrbdog5258 1 year ago 2
@mrbdog5258 The Intercept's hardware keyboard may account for some of the cost difference, but it still surprises me that the Optimus is as cheap as it is given the higher screen specs and seemingly better performance. If you have a Sprint store nearby, you can try out the Optimus and the Intercept with the 2.2 upgrade in person and decide for yourself. Or you can buy the Optimus at Target, try it, and return it within 90 days (with activation code) if you don't think it's a worthwhile upgrade.
ivarneli 1 year ago
The Intercept is going to kill the Optimus with the froyo update. I had the optimus and I hated it! The screen sucks and the lack of a qwerty keyboard annoyed me.

elementalfiend 1 year ago
@elementalfiend The Optimus has a resolution of 320 x 480 = 153,600 pixels. The Intercept has a resolution of 240 x 400 = 96,000 pixels. 153,600/96,000 = 1.6, or 60% more. The screens have similar physical dimensions (the Intercept screen is slightly narrower), but the pixels on the Optimus are packed more densely. This results in sharper text on the Optimus. (For comparison, the iPhone 4's retina display packs 960 x 640 pixels into a screen that is only a bit larger, which is why it's so sharp)
ivarneli 1 year ago
@ivarneli Yeah you're right. Was going off of information I got from the Virgin site which it turns out was just a user comment.
Thanks for these videos, you've made a hard phone choice easy. Hard to see why the intercept costs more after seeing them in action side by side.

lg optimus m vs lg optimus v!!!!!
looster94 1 year ago
This video made me decide! I'm going with the optimus v. In my opinion, all around it's just better than the intercept. My friend has the intercept and it lags, a lot, and is just way slower than the optimus. Also the hardware keys on the bottom of the optimus are a plus for me, because the touch sensitive buttons on the intercept just annoy me because I have to press it like twice before it works. The swipe texting is cool as well. I can't wait to get my optimus!
cabeglasgow 1 year ago
@MissCaseyxoxo I'm aware of that. You can install Sprint's 2.2 Froyo on Virgin Mobile's Intercept. I did it myself.
Though, I wouldn't recommend it if this is your primary phone. I'd wait for Virgin Mobile's official 2.2 Froyo update, which comes out this Spring.
Xulap 1 year ago
Try installing Sprint's 2.2 Froyo update to the Intercept(it works) and then doing another comparison. This doesn't seem so fair. Froyo is way faster than Eclair. I noticed a huge difference when updating my Virgin Mobile Samsung Intercept.
