For example in the video, there were 24 A's out of a total of 81 vowels. 24/81 = .30*100% = 30%.

30% of 360degrees is .30*360 = 108 degrees.

To get the percentage you take the number of each divided by the total and multiply by 100%. Then you take that percentage of 360 degrees to get the degree for each section. So really, there is no need to convert to a percent to obtain the degree of each slice because you would need to multiply by the decimal to obtain your degrees.
