I'm trilingual, i speak English, Spanish, and French and most people i know say why would you want to take French class, nobody speaks it here. I hate that question, how can people be so narrow minded, it makes comunication a ton easier when you can speak with a person directly, i want to travel and see places, i don't want to look like a typical American. lol.. i live in Tennessee & as a junior in highschool, we are required to take two years of a foreign language. So in French class, as you can imagine, ive heard some prity horrible French accents x.x this video was great & also true. There are many things that are silent when spoken in the French language and from what i can tell, this seems to be the stumper for most. @NicoDeEspana The stereotype in Europe is of the Americans (and to a lesser extent the British) wandering around speaking English in France and germany and expecting the locals to do so. I know this is not generally true but I should mention a case I saw personally where an American walked into a shop in Germany and expected the people there to automatically. I'm not saying that is typical of Americans at all most of whom I find warm and polite, but it is very much the cliché.

Very funny.. I'm from Denmark, a non french speaking country, but I speak French. I understood every word you said, but it was a little hard sometimes - especially because of the music which overshadowed your speaking. Other than that, very funny.

Just remember, you often don't pronounce the final consonant in a word (eg. you said mais, but it's actually pronounced mai), unless the next word starts with a vowel. Then you pronounce it. Thats called liaison. Je ai -> J'ai...

My parents live in villefranche sur mer but I went to school in Nice.I love nice.But since you are American I think the city you will totally love would be Montpellier-sete or Beziers.It is young and vibrant ,I went to the uni there and there is a sea near Palavas.Nice and its neighbouring cities are much more suited for people over the age of 40.those who are raising children.if you are an artist or a writer nice is also fine.
