hey im only 15 ... but i prep my families ammo..........are you in a basement? moisture might behigh... an di saw your exposed ammo...either put them in a heavy duty freezerbag or in your ammo can cuz once the powder gets wet thats it...
those vitamins arent going to do you much good. you should get Nikken Greenzymes, they are one of natures perfect foods. freeze dried, wont have a real long shelf life, no good vitamins do but you could survive off of them. just add a teaspoon to water. it taste like grass water but it is extremely nutritious. btw they also have an extremely good gravity fed water filter which i did not see you had.
you can can start a garden with though jars. Or noodles, rice and dried beans. Though learn too can it'll be a huge skill for prepping and still save you money if nothing happens. You seem too be ok with guns and ammo. heard you want about 2000 rounds. Don't forget a bug out bag even if you stay it be good for hunting or going out looking for supplies.
If you're going to stockpile food & sundries I hope you are using coupons. It's the most economical way to do so. If you're not a couponer, you could always just buy one or two extra stockpile items every time you grocery shop. And of course, always turn over your stock (well the food stock anyways) so that when the SHTF, you're not eating rotten food. Oh, and for how to stockpile, the LDS church gives out great info (I'm a Catholic btw, but any advice is good advice!)
hey.....reloading was fun for me...but in case SHTF....I now load up up on CCi aluminum cased ammo and russian wolf steel cased ammo. Its cheap and not worth reloading.
AK and AR ammo in steel works well now. the russianshave fine tuned it to work well. the early steel cased stuff was poor. stock up on tradeables...ammo, vitamins, canned foods with long shelf life...alcohol...salmon, vienna sausages, beans, etc Good luck...hope none of us ever need it.
But first, make sure you are putting out some really rank farts..you might want to put a marble in there also to peak someones curiosity...lol Ough yeah, in order to seal the jar ... put an oxygen absorber in it also.. that will just increase the intensity of the methane...lol
Yeah ... fart in one of them jars, seal it up, and put a note on it... sniff in case of a gas attack.. Then write on the inside of the lid..."Yeah!... No Shit...Asshole"
hey bro this looks like a great start to your room, my humble advice would be to treat the walls with some compound that will keep water out. it looks like a basement and you want to make sure you can keep moisture low (so your guns dont rust) and have a way to pump out water in case of a flood, also when storing food please do your self a favor and invest in Mylar bags, oxygen absorbing packets, and beans and rice.
I guess you live in the states , if so Ditch the mosin, and get a bolt action in 308,223,or 3006, mosin ammo is imported and during SHTF this ammo will dry up,
@survivalaustralia01 Have to disagree bro..... 7.62x54r is $95 for a 440 round tuna can. That's .22 cents a bullet. CHEAP..... They are a great weapon to have. We have about 10,000 rounds and 7 Mosins. The whole family LOVE to shoot these bad boys.
@TheClosetPrepper if your gunna do reloading then i wouldnt even bother with the 7.62x54 i would just get a good 308 and .223 and just reload those. you can be well under .22 cents
My only advice would be to return the CCI ammo and buy something of better quality. CCI ammo is without a doubt THE absolute worst I've ever used. The last box I bought, probably 12 years ago, had several dented casings. CCI would regularly jam my guns and was just an all around dirty brand of ammo imo.
Rice might be more efficient in mylar bags in 5 gal buckets. Even 20 pounds of rice takes up a hell of a lot of jars. I agree with dehydating then filling the jars with the dried stuff--lasts longer and is a more effient use of jars. But its a great start. You seem a little unbalanced, weapons to food and water. But we all have to start somewhere, you'll find your balance in time. Keep on prepping, great start!
good start just get more food and water as you know..:+} I just started and it's hard with a limited supply of cash so I've brought two friends in with me and so our storage is growing fast..
i use my jars for storen my Dehydrated food ins.. its better then can'n them cause can food only last 3-5 yrs max .. but dehydrated food last for 30 yrs.. yes you need water to get it backs.. but you can stock ups more food that ways.. just a ideals.. your off to a good start .. keep it ups..
Hey, use those glass jars to purifier your water with solar. That's what I'm using mine for. Then in the summer I'll use mine for canning my garden foods.
good start, water, wise food (less room storage) or mre.s get a solar den, along with fire (heater) suplies and you know about the first aid stuff. ur good on firearms (need more ammo) but hay people got too start somewere good job
all that in one week nice job man. for the jars i would put vegetables meats or jams in them. you might be able to take the rifle rounds out of the boxes so you can fit more into the ammo cans you have. i think you should eventually work on storing large amounts of grains. dont forget to store oil and salt
Can Fruits and Veggies...Also, Make Complete Meals in The Jar...Like with Dried or Dehydrated Mixtures, Then drop in an Oxy and Seal! Great Job so Far!
@genmama1955 He's going to protect his family, property, food and preps from idiots out there who don't like guns. We all don't live in Shangri La. I (like 700k or so others) live WITHIN the actual city limits of Detroit MI. Think about it...
@liabatud67 You don't live too awfully far away from a dangerous fault, did you know that? You never know when the next big quake is going to hit. People in earthquake zones need to prep differently, that's all. You wouldn't need a gun unless you were the robber. I hardly think you would feel safe sitting around a pile of rubble, food under
All the prepping in the world would undo all your hard prepper work. Your stuff would be buried beneath the rubble of your house. And your little gun too.
@genmama1955 Your comment is a veritable conundrum: You say "you wouldn't need a gun unless you're the robber".... leaves you standing defenseless when said robber comes calling.
In a duel, the fight doesn't last long when only one side has a weapon of means. Don't allow your preps to be lopsided in either category but prep well in both instead. Otherwise: "The lack of the one may mean the loss of the other".
@liabatud67 Since I don't live in a gun laden community like you do, my mindset is way different than yours, as you can tell. All I'm asking is why you have so many guns? I'm asking for information. Get a little more educated. You know? If you could lay it all out for me, I could probably arm myself better than I could do on my own. Please don't come dome down on me. I'm not trying to be nasty or hate or anything. I just don't understand.
@genmama1955 Most of us even if we have military experience have not been personally exposed to a gamut of weapons. As thus some seek to find familiarity with a weapon of good reputation by purchasing them first to find appropriate uses for each of them.
I have hunting guns and nothing else. I can use them for defense to a degree but there are guns out there that are more appropriate for that application. Pistols would be a good example.
1. aldis and save alot are awesome for canned food 12 cans for $3-12usd even cheaper on sale
2. your way too worried about ammo, stock 22lr and defensive pistol, everything else is already good
3. for the jars you can actually can meat, at the store canned meat SUCKS [besides tuna], can your own for better taste but may only last for 2 years tops
