Face it! Van Halen went down the tubes after 1996. They are slowly trying to revive their messed up career. The result of changing singers one too many times. The album is nothing but a throwback to the Dave era. Speaking of, i wonder how long Diamond dud is going to be in this band before they kick him out again...and again...and again!!!!

I think you've misunderstood what I was saying. Please see other comments on the "all comments" page. I was talking about when people use "Van Hagar" as a disparaging term to describe what they think was the downfall of Van Halen after the oh-so-perfect years of DLR. I thought Hagar was just fine, and I thought Van Halen did some of their best music after Roth was gone.

Actually, here's my public apology--it was _I_ who misread _your_ post the first time, because I didn't pay close enough attention to the year (1996) and therefore thought you were talking about the post-Roth band, not the post-good-Hagar-years band, and so I thought you were yet another tiresome "can't be VH without DLR" kinda guy. Hindsight has brought me to the conclusion that the Sammy Hagar incarnation of Van Halen was every bit as fabulous as the David Lee Roth incarnation of the band. They really are two different bands notable for their greatness in their areas of expertise. The former years being the years of infant style songwriting with massive innovation on the guitar. The latter years with Sammy being the years of mature songwriting and impeccable musicianship from the entire band . Either way I love this band
