My brother loved this man. Occasionally played backup for him at the Grand Ole Opry. Hit my brother hard when he died. He named one of his sons after Mr. Reeves. We just call him Jimmy. And yes, Mr. Reeves thought quite a lot of my brother. It does my heart good to be able to hear Mr. Reeves sing this beautiful hymn. My Mama went home in '98 at the age of 89 and it still hurts so bad and she, too, was weary.
Still listening to Jim and his beautiful voice and Godly songs. I suffer from Chronic Arthritis, Recovered from a stroke and have Fibro Myalgia. Sleep apnea is the result. I use Jim and his songs to help me overcome the pain. I love his voice such a gentle man and very humble he was. Blessings Jim. Rev Jack
Oh My God, this was one of the songs we sang at both of my parents' funerals - they were weary after raising us - and they went to be with the Lord- it's making me so emotional.
You don't hear hymns like this in church anymore. When they brought in the drums and electric guitars along with nonsensical rock/Christian lyrics, I stopped going. That's been a long time and since then my faith has vanished. Yet, there still is a hole in my heart where my faith once was. It is gone forever even if beautiful music should return to churches. I think I speak for many thousands if not millions of people.
@zeekwolfe Unfortunately churches seem to be more "business-like" now more than ever. Most of the people that really made a difference in my life growing up in the church has since passed away and this modern way is very difficult to adjust to in the church. Although I am not a bible thumper, it is my belief that your "faith" is between you and God, not you and the church.
This classic Christian hymn is thought to have been translated into more languages than any other hymn. It was the work of the American lyricist and composer William Lamartine Thompson (1847-1909). As usual, the Jim Reeves interpretation is simply outstanding.
You are right The Lord did call Jim home too soon for us...but why would you leave such a beautiful voice here on earth when he obviously is needed in Gods choir of angels!!!!
the most &ever finest voice.....and great son....my dad usually play it on our musicplayer those days..if you still remember the disc we called it long playing....hehehe...now they compress it become tiny disc....... this time my john....did play it usin the small disc....... stormieweathers
"Calling, oh sinner, come home". And to the super duper "saints" you are reminded that no one gets to heaven without the blood of Jesus on then, oh wretched sinner that we all are!

zeekwolfe, Please reconsider your views. Find a good Bible teaching church please. Take a good look around you. Time is short. Bill G.

Jim Reeves always reminds me of my grandfather(who died in the 80's), who was a believer but closed his bible when his first wife died :(
I just hope he is with the Lord and maybe he silently prayed for me when I was little?
Godd video
God bless
