i dont know to much about sleds, but im gonna say thats a yamaha sled, with the r1 motor? if its keeping the skis up that hi in the water, its gotta have some power. usually from what ive seen, as soon as you pul the ski's up to far it just sinks, so this thing must be sick.
@cobra96svt570 not the one with the r1 motor... thats the rx-1 and its a 4-stroke... this is a 700 tripple i think.... not sure bout the 700 part cant remember right now.... bout the sinking part depends on the sled really.. some will... my rx-1 mountain wont as far as i know yet... and hopefully i wont find out
@Arthor32 Id say it all depends on what you say is stock, a stock 440? i doubt it, unless the rider is small. But something with 600ccs or more, like a 1000cc sled will have no problem.
what did you use for cable extensions as far as your park brake carble and possible choke cable .. is your choke mounted under the left handle bar like the 04 vipers?
guess I just ran into more of a cluster fuck than you did .. lol I'll just remove my park brake as far as choke cable we'll see how I can rig that .. I'm currently making my 04 viper s a 136" long track with 1.5" ripsaw track .. should be a fun project . yamaha triples the way to go man don't ever sell her lol
dude can watch this vid all day i love to watch this vid i got a 97 mountainmax skipps pretty good but cant get the front end to lift when ever i want like this guy aha
do you have anything done with this sled as in power adders or is it just a stock sx viper with seat took off and shit i am just wondering casue i have one and plan on skipng water ?????
Nothing is done to the motor or clutches. Just had to put on 8 tooth drivers to fit the 2 inch track. I took the seat off because they are a pain to dry out if/when you sink.
If you had a running start you could probably skip for a while but I would start close to the water. I just put a 2 inch paddle track on it but besides that it is all stock
How far would you make it? Till you let off. The record is something like 30 miles. Most of the people that do water drags run 1 inch lug or less. But if you want to lift your skis 3feet off the water you'll need more.
we pick it up off the bottom and then motor it back to shore with our boat really slow. When you get shallow enough you just hop out and drag it the rest of the way
i have the same sled but a 141" track with 2 1/4 paddles they skip really nice and i was skippin mine across some lakes they go really well on the water
Basically anything will skip water if you have enough speed. You just won't be able to keep going for very long. you could probably skip water for about 50 yards at the most
I didn't adjust my limiter strap for skipping but I'm not sure where they were set before I started. I would imagine your 440 would do just fine. If it has a 1.75 inch track though you might start to bog down after a while because the paddles pick up some water too and trap it in the tunnel
I accidently hit remove instead of reply to your last one, whoops. My new top speed is probably around 80-90 on hard pack. Before I would easily see over 100 on the speedo
lol its all good..i know u dont appreciate my comments!!! ya but i bet it gets there like a bat out of hell!!! thats maybe around the same speed as my 440.. a little bit more power though ;).. my sp has 20 46 gears i dont know if i should change them for some speed or just leave them kuz i like the power???
I would say just leave them. I have a 440 as well right now and I absolutely love the quickness and the power. A 440 will stick with any other sled to 65-70
oh ya lol do you still have your viper just wondering how big of a track you got on that thing lol because theres some guys here in barrie that use polaris IQ's and those things are good on the water too lol they really skip good
I put a 2 inch track on it, everything else is stock. I get some really funny looks when people see the short track viper with a 2 inch track on it. When I'm in powder the skis almost never touch. I'm looking at getting an IQ this summer though
everything is stock on mine except I had to get 8 tooth drivers instead of the stock 9 tooth to fit the 2 inch track. I'm not sure where the torsion bars are set but it only wheelies when I want it to, it still handles great on the trails
I lost about 8-10 on top end but that is partly due to the larger track, more weight to spin. I got longer cables from Gravity Worx Racing. They are braided and really nice. You will love the power and sound compared to you twin, the vipers are very quick too
well I have had the speedo to 128 but that isn't even close. If your renegade does 110 then my viper probably did around that. I don't know for sure.
yeah i want to see how my sled skips when i get that 1.75" on there. should be sweet. Got to get that riser on there to. Pisses me off that i can't find a 16" wide track tho. It comes with a 16" wide you think they would make more aftermarket tracks that wide
you didn't look very hard. Tracks USA under Cross Country, the Challenger Trail 1.75, 16 wide - 137 long - 1.75 deep. Says its Skidoo OEM. Your Welcome.
Its got great power. With my old track I could beat my buddies 800 Rev Renegade. With the 2 incher I can stand it on the tail for as long as I want. Check out the viceo Viper Wheelie. Thats the new track
yeah, those should work. Its got a 2 inch track on it and the hood is custom painted and I have an 8 inch pivot riser on it with Gravity Worx braided cables

i would think wiith your old track that you would have trouble with a 800 renegade. Maybe it would depend on who ever got the hole shot......
renegade34rev 4 years ago
It was all based on the holeshot. I actually would take him top end but thats only cause he has more track to turn. Midrange we were dead even
Wer3044 4 years ago
yeah my 800 gade tops out at like 110 stock. What did your 700 used to do?
renegade34rev 4 years ago
well I have had the speedo to 128 but that isn't even close. If your renegade does 110 then my viper probably did around that. I don't know for sure.
