On a different note, researchers have suggested that some livestock such as, ship, cattle, pigs possible understand that they will eventually be slaughtered. Food and shelter compels the livestock to except there role.
Religious sheep seem to operate under the same instinct that mental freedom is a fair trade for the false hope of immortality and eternal happiness.
Or could it be Christians recognize that despite our vanity, as humans we are still stupid creatures that constantly wander off and do stupid things in spite of ourselves. While Christianity is focused on accepting guidance from God, it is not about being dominated by other humans.
People dominate others independant of scriptures or religion. Humans will use ANYTHING at hand to bring others into subjection, so it's rather short sighted to blame it all on religion as is fashionable lately. And just because anything might be used to enslave others, it does not mean that it had no merit of it's own. The problem, as you say, is persons who allow domination by others, no matter what the source.
And the one thing I wish people would keep in mind, especially about religion, is that even though many things can be twisted into enslaving humanity, there may be nothing wrong with those things of themselves. Faith in the divine is not "evil" when it does not lead to tyranny by humans. Indeed, faith in the divine leads many to help and strengthen their fellows. Many people reject things out of hand simply because someone somewhere has abused it.
Yet, religion is defined as a system of beliefs, and beliefs are lies we tell ourselves. So religion is inherently a sick system. Very few can see this, but awakened people can.
If you want the heaven that is AT HAND that Jesus talked about you choose the truth, not beliefs or religion.
If religion were just "a system of beliefs", then one would have to consider athieism, secular humanism, and communism religions. They themselves have a "system of beliefs" about the world.
I think if one wishes to criticize "Religion" as a set of traditions and customs that are man made, that's quite fair. If one however says that belief in the divine a sickness, then equally all belief is sickness and all humanity is depravity, for ALL humanity holds "Systems of Beliefs".
Most people fall into one of two groups. Those who want to control others and those who want to be controlled. The sheeple are afraid of the wilderness and so they huddle together more than willing to be fleeced in exchange for a false sense of security.

God speaks directly to you, people dominate others through scriptures and religion. Sheep are dumb enough to believe in those people.

True. Religion is just ONE of the many tools to dominate and control gullible people.

I'm not a sheep, I'm a human being. Be a sheep, drink my blood, eat my flesh. Christian sickos.
