This song was from film Asha where this song sequence was cooed from English movie Knock on Wood . Dany Kaye by then was at the top of his career as actor comedian singer and tv personal . KISHORE has made his career and style on line of
Kishorekumar ? No he is so unique, with his own and in originality...he deserved totally new wording for his work, and that as a singer he has almost total mastery over his vocal tuning...this mastery is such that even in his coughing he bring musical tone...he play with his own vocal tone, and that too, it look, he did no effort, and all come so naturally...like flower's fragrance...but he is such a flowers, hold fragrance of all most all flowers of nature...he is best in comedy, & tragedy
This was the best example of a classic rock tune ever invented in Bollywood movie..and Mera naam chin chin chu..Zaruraat hai also got a nice rock tune..but this is the best..
The boogie woogie should be of interest . No lyricist could ever write in Hindi/Urdu to this tune.... had to be gibberish love the " Maka Naka Naka ... DaYe Domenica" rhyme.
@tenseman08 I don't know, but I'm so glad they did! Trouble is whenever anyone in our house now says anything with the word "India" in it, someone else will respond with "Indiakh?" and then we all start singing the damn song! (Anyone got a good recipe for lassi?)
What a nutty and wonderful combination of American and Indian cultures, both musically and in the visuals of this weird and funny musical number. With a boogie woogie piano to boot!
I assume the lyrics probably don't mean much but instead are supposed to be a series of tongue-twisters.
@hebneh - The title lyrics were not totally nonsensical - they came to CR while listening to kids playing outside his room singing "Eena meena myna moe - that's the Indian equivalent of "Eeny meeny miny moe". The "maka naka" part came from Gomes - his assistant, who was a Goan. (Maka naka in Konkani means "I don't want")
when I first heard this in the HSBC advert i thought it was a hindi version of a Duke Ellington tune the name which escape me at the moment., but, the songwriter was definitely a Duke Ellington fan.
haha i love how i'm 14 as of the end of july and i love all these classics way b4 my time. all my friends are like what the hell rohan? why do you listen to this old stuff?? hahaha
i'm usually like, dude this stuff is amazing and classic we can learn so much from how they did and what they grew up using for instruments. it's pretty interesting to me.
