I still don't get this whole skid phenomenon. Or why somebody even filmed this.

    Just go fast.

    Wanna race?

  • una maravilla esas fixed.. jaja el vato que derrapa en circulos jeje buenas bikes. saludos fixeros

  • all is fun and games until your chain snaps and you face f##k the north end of a south bound delivery truck.

  • Anybody knows this song?

  • If these fixed bikes dont stop very fast, doesnt that make them a lot more dangerous than regular bikes? Please respond because im thinking of buying one.

  • @emperorles its just a competition you can stop way faster

  • @emperorles

U are not meant to go very fast on these kind of bikes on the street. Because u can't stop in time all the time. Its different on tack like a velodrome where the momentum carries u for speed. The reaction time it takes to press brake lever is much much more faster than u need to arch your body and slow down your pedallling. So technically its not safe when compared to freewheeler with brakes.

  • @netmatrix75 who cares, its hardcore, about feelin the rush, you havn't got breaks on a long board when your flying down a massive hill, you do it cos you want to. if you feel like you need breaks to make it til tomorrow then use em :) if not then have it out and feel the adrenalin!

  • @biggerfatterblacker

Its true on that. There are a lot of fixie riders here too. The only thing i give it to them is the colorful bikes they have.

  • @emperorles Just get one with the machined braking strips on the wheels. You can still skid and whatnot (excluding turning the handlebars 360), but you have the brakes for emergency. Like Netmatrix stated too, you're not meant to go at extreme speed. Even with brakes, because of the limited amount of traction the thin tires can grip, stopping at extensive speed will take some distances.

  • lmao.... @ 1:05-1:10 GET IN MAH BELLY!

  • can i do this with my brakes?

  • can i do this with my brakes only?

  • how often do you have to change tyres when you use skidding to brake?

  • @sagasa456 my soma everwear ($30) lasted me like 6 months and im using it for brakes and messing around all the time too, thickslick ive heard is good as well but i just bought my second soma. my friend buys $8 tires and they last 4 days.

  • @sagasa456 depends on the gear ratio, on mine i used to have one skid patch which meant every month but i got a new ratio which gives me 17 skid patches

  • is the point to go as far as you can? can these dudes stop faster than that? what if there is a car coming haha

  • @Pawl2 Don't lean forward as much... or just don't hit the car. (The car doesn't hit you, you hit it.)

  • buy mine! brand new and custom! (w w w dot ebay dot com dot au /ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=190506702428#ht_500wt_1156

  • "just skiding"

  • 1:15 no skid control........

  • 1.08 take the brake off

  • I fell exactally like that first guy who fell yesterday

  • nice tyres lol

  • hahahaha, that kid ate shit.

  • why do i see people use dropbar more then bullhorn? hmmm i am a bullhorn user btw :D

  • @orengard2 ya i use bullhorns

  • they should have a contest to stop in the shortest distance, would look much different though lol

  • @kyletaz they allready did that in NY i guess

  • This music is way too mainstream for my hipster antics

  • i'm trying to this trick next sunday

  • man, look at all these bike messengers and those packages not being delivered. how many of these people are *actually* bike messengers?

  • why would they do that?

  • Are they 'Special Needs' ?

    Very sad, too much inbreeding.

  • masher! haha nice vid!

  • WTF why are these people trying to be stylish when they are going for distance? (people that fell)

  • Too many damn' hipsters

  • haha that nikka ate shit tryna swerve

  • I wish I knew why they have to roll up one pant leg? I really would love an explanation,

  • @jeckeljoan The explanation is quite simple. As you know, on a fixed gear bike, you cannot coast. Therefore, it the wheel moves, the chainrings move (the front gears). Therefore, if your pants get caught between the chain and gear, you'll be thrown/your $200 skinny jeans will be torn. Personally, I just rubber band my non-skinny jeans to my leg, but now you know why they roll it up.

  • @squiresuzuki Thank you! that makes sense haha.

  • dub & fixie was awesome combination..

  • latfh.

    google that.

  • i like the part when he fell on his face

  • hhahahahahahahaa.......chineesssee guy fallss

  • It looks painful, even for the ones who don't fall!!!

  • 1:06 dude go forward

  • @xhappyxscreamingx Or backwards :D

  • who falls off when skidding? lol. lucky they were wearing helmets

  • fixiers, I eat you guys for breakfast. I shut you up on my low gears. I don't have to stomp my roadie to beat you all

  • @baralah Whatever. We all tried roadies and left them for track bikes or converted them into fixies.

  • who c an they slide so far`?

  • Skinny, smooth tires. Low resistance.

  • LOL 0:55

  • i LOLD hard

  • whats wrong with the Pista?

  • Nothing is wrong with it. Bit highly priced. Considered to be sort of a commercial choice cop out in some fixed gear circles, that's probably what Rhinos was referring to. Ride what makes you happy.

  • bianchi pistas are great bikes

  • 1:15 = fail

  • that was hilarious when that dood bit it

  • i just started riding on my fixie today.. and i suck at skidding xD

  • LOL dude i totally feel you my first 4 or 5 days where hell trying to do stuff. Its fun practicing most of all.

  • Hasselblad at 1:20!!! How freaking awesome was this little gathering!

  • i need to adjust my handlebars... im too tall so when i do this my legs get caught under the ram horns.... and idk about my gear ratio round 2.5 is this ok for a skid?

  • Comment removed

  • is this song by Toots and the Maytals ?

  • Prince Jammy & The Aggrovators - Out Of Order Dub

  • I got 27 in wheels and 49/14 gear ratio. I haven't been able to skid. Is it even doable with my setup?

  • yes. i'm doing it with a 52x16

  • same here. no problems. just as easy for me. i can go forever.

  • good balance but didnt we do somethinglike thsi back in the day on coaster brakes?

  • Say goodbye to the rubber on your tires!

  • also, this vid demonstrates the need for a front brake (yeah yeah, i know they are messing up the weight dist, but still, its not much rubber touching the road)

  • Skidding like that is for fun, and it either impresses or pisses motorists.

I've never had a front brake and I seem to be able to stop just fine, even with a full payload.

  • still, you might wish you had a front brake the day your chain breaks/comes off the sprocket when going down a hill (though i guess you could still jam your foot onto the tyre)

  • It's happened before. Not that I'm against brakes or anything lol.

  • that is sooooo stupid.

  • hahahaah outside parliament house and all! classic

  • i thought that was the royal exhibition building (near imax).

though the only time i gi there is for uni exams, and i get pretty stressed out, so i might be wrong

  • this video is amazing, the quality! and the music tops it

  • if any 1 knows of a good fixie site please pm me. nice vid btw

  • hi! someone knows where is a nice fixed gear bike 's shop in melbourne?

    thanks

  • .54 is so bad!

  • yeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeah, lets all go out and fuck up our tires :)

  • ye let's do it!! when u were a kid did you ever get some v brakes on your MTB and find patches of loose dirt/stone and lock that bake brake up and skid everywhere? i know i did and i loved it,no i ride fixed and you don't have to skid to stop you can just uise the power of your leg on the back stroke, but it's fun and i have tires that are 5mm thick designed for skids, so mate i aint reckin' not'in'!! just haveing a blast. try it out, free wheels are for pussy's with a $10,000 carbon sunday bike

  • what tires do you use?

  • do you use a wheelchair?
