the best thing to do with the mushrooms is to put them right in front of an ogre, then it turns and fights all of the smaller guys (and you dont have to fight the ogre)

Also, grinders are much better than wall-blades, especially when you upgrade them.

The finale is also doable without the use of barricades, but you will need to make heavy use of the coinforge and paladins on the first 4 waves, and then sell them after the break after the 4th wave. That way, you can have enough money then to buy 8 maces, plenty of tar traps and enough paladins to cover each entrance. The rest of the waves are then used to bolster those defenses on the 8 sides. Very inefficient, but considering that you encounter massive sapper waves on wave 6 and 10...

My strategy for this was to grab the fire/ice/wind magic, and then the tar/mace/arrow/brimstone/palad­in traps. Right off the bat, I grab the full upgrade for the paladin and build a tar/mace/arrow killbox and bolster it with a pair of paladins. For the first 3 waves, I worked to build up more rows of tar/maces and arrow traps, and then start building it on the right side. You really don't need barricades for this level.

Barricades are a waist of money on this level

choke off each set of stairs with barricades until they can only funnel into one square area, then put the *UPGRADED* swinging mace head on with tar traps under it. Literally impossible to get past. Also add wall grinders at the front/back for kobolds.
