So pleased to see posting this video prompted so many comments from the band and their families. Although it was a while ago, I had a lot of fun making this video - particularly the ski lift journey up Glencoe!
I am having a big clear out, would anyone veiwing this page like the 1st Pos Noise album and 12"single of positive negative for the price of the postage only, get in touch.
Pretty good band. In the 80s me and a lot of the kids thought of this music as 'seconds' or 'leftovers'..not a Devo or a Modern English...for sure...but good Top 100 single type music nonetheless..the better songs by Positive Noise are the album cuts..btw
Ross is a genius but hes also a totally self destructive personality.
Kimstyle say hi to your dad for me as for best bass player in the world well... hes your dad so im saying nothing although he is one of the nicest guys in the world :XD
@billnottheseventhman Wow just looking back at this video, there are a lot of comments related to the band members, I'll get my dad to come on and have a look at them! Haha alright, thank you :) Do you still know Ross? Also, a lot of people still call my dad "Fries" :p
Hi there, i am the sister-in-law of the lead singer Russell Blackstock.....just to let you know that he is ding very well and living it up in sunny New Zealand now with wife and kids.....will need to let him know about all the nice comments on here, and get him to reply to some of them.
To answer a couple of the questions posed below....the vid was played on MTV sometime in October 1984...it was filmed in and around Glencoe Valley in Scotland earlier in 1984. DP was the late great Tony Leggo, with Peter Braughan ('Rob Roy') as Line Producer.
Great band! Does anyone know if the Change of Heart and Heart of Darkness albums are available on CD or has someone tranferred from vinyl to CD? I have them on vinyl (they were bought in 1980 after I saw them support Toyah at the Liverpool Empire) but they have been played to death! Would love to be able to listen to them again.
I recall buying their album "Change of Heart" based on an article in Vanity Fair back in the early 80's :? Lot's of good licks. Phillies are up by 2 runs in game 7...go Phils!
Tell them I love "Positive Negative". I danced to that all the time in the 80s and thought it was called "Megaton Megaton" and it wasn't until the Internet that I was able to figure out the real title and band. I still haven't been able to find the song for download, but let them it's one of my all-time favs.
This Saturday 23 Feb I'm djing at GRIS club, a cyberpunk disco in Madrid. My tracklist will be: "And yet again" Positive Noise "Amanda" Panoramas "The village in the morning"Magnetic Fields, The "Positive negative" Positive Noise "I must be on my own" Neon Judgement, The "No More Blood And Soil" Positive Noise "Blast Off!" Class Action "Change of heart" Positive Noise "Wings" Hawkwind "Stalingrado" Virüs "Give me passion" Positive Noise
does anyone have an email contact from anyone in the band? i work for a record company that is interested in compiling a track of them and cannot trace them.. if so hit me back with a private message please
Why can't I find anything on CD by these guys. I've got all the records but it would be nice to hear the music in the car. I know I could do the whole hook up the computer to the record player but come on. Anybody know? Thanks for posting this video-you are positively cool!
Hey u guys remember their song When Lightning Strikes? Havent heard that for a while...I hope somebody can post a video for that...Love that song...Been asking around about the song title and band...just found out now.
Weren't too bad a band. But guess like other relatives who have posted here I am biased. I remember various gigs and I think I remember in Glasgow supporting Simple Minds
He he, thanks whoever put this up. I am little sis to three of the original band members. And hey, we don't know where Ross is right now either....so if anyone hears anything, get in touch!
The singer's name is Ross Middleton and I think is the brother of some of the other band members. He formed the band Leisure Process with Gary Barnacle, then disappeared without trace. Whatever happened to him?
Their first album heart of darkness I remember fondly. But the single "Give me passion" was a clasic. If I recall this is the second line up. The original singer Ross someone teamed up with Gary Barnacle the saxophonist and left. Their next single "positive negative" was a corker too. Not sure about this one though.
incredible!!! i was looking for them since I know them in 1985... !!!! i am still a great fan. especially the album CHANGE OF HEART which is one of the gretest record through the 80's ! GREAT THANX
hope to welcoming him soon ! I have a hotel in Mons, Belgium. Not hesitate to contact me, He (you)will be my guest! Does your dad knows if I can found out the album CHANGE OF HEART & HEART OF DARKNESS on CD ? regards from Belgium.

Saw this band twice in 1982 supporting Toyah on The Changeling tour and they were great. Change of Heart is a superb 80's album.
