Temple, I don't know if you're a movie guy or not.. but in the Lord of the Rings Gimley says just before they decide to storm Helm's deep, "Overwhelming odds, Certainty of defeat... what are we waiting for" and with that level of moxie they are successful ... that's sort of how I feel .. whatever the fight, whatever the odds, when I am called upon, I will answer that call... but, that's just how I am, and always have been

No longer relating it to a distant past, but as it applies in our lives today. I would behoove our present government to review it as a whole every year in office. Jefferson was not just talking about then, he was relating a message for all people, including todays generations of Americans. Good job! Many kisses and much Love...peace..minx
such a timeless document.. yeah, it's just as real now, if not more so.. these ideals died way before I ever knew what they meant.. and so much else of what our slave owning genocidal founders sold us on ... the ideas of life, liberty.. the things that history teachers in public schools taught us we were founded on .. should be something that today's "politicians, legislatures, and bureaucrats" all work towards .. not just lining their own coffers
The signers of the Declaration were far from perfect. They were slave owners who sought total domination of the lands around them. Women didn't have the right to vote.
Nevertheless, this is our country and it was supposed to stand for life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. It does none of that today. We need to return to the original ideals for which this country was founded.

however, a lot of what we were promised, these ideals of liberty, and the PURSUIT of happiness are things worth working for.
Also they called the real AMERICANS savages! Maybe if the tribes wore powdered wigs and drank tea they would have been "civilized". Maybe if the natives would have cheated the settlers out of their cities and towns they would have impressed the Settlers and would have been considered equals.
anyone who follows the supposed "new world order" knows that "they" use the term surplus population, the term I believe first made common in a paper written by Al Haig and Hank Kissinger .. but the people who were on this continent before us were merely considered a hindrance.. and would have been slaughtered regardless.. they were "in the way"
