  • This is what music should sound like !

  • super!____THX

  • This is fucking brilliant

  • HAPPY BIRTHDAY JEFF!! You are a musical genius...most definitely the 5th Beatle!!

  • Grew up on these songs, my dad would play them all the time. He's the reason i have such a great imagination when it comes to music.

  • ELO = LSD

  • @genowinks Nah, not LSD. ELO is like oxygen: You get too much, it makes you high. Not enough and you're gonna die...

  • @dl7und touche.

  • @genowinks I must admit that line is not mine, borrowed from Sweet: v=rda6i9TTftg

  • Anyone own the blue vinyl pressing of this album...? No, me neither... :(

  • @TK42138 - Yep. In fact I have three copies. One sealed. I missed out buying one when it first came out and was determined to have one no matter what.

  • love it

  • 3 mins 41 secs what a Crescendo, best part of the track, which gently leads into the haunting...Big Wheels, put your head phones on and close your eyes, and visualise the big wheels, slowly turning.......ahh heaven

  • It's an anthem! Truly superb!

  • Wonderful

  • bought this vinyl today to play on my record player, oh im 16

  • Wonderful album. Made for some really great memories growing up. Thank you Jeff Lynn. Your the master.

  • all ELO is fantastic, just a shame we hear rubbish of today , i grew up with beatles , ELO , and elton john. what we hear now ruins kids minds.........

  • @alrogue1 These days bring politicians who think that the Lion King will 'corrupt' kids because the soundtrack was composed by Elton John.

Michelle Bachmann everybody. Stooping to new lows everyday.

  • When music was music :) memories of the mid 70s, grew up with ELO and had all their LP's

  • super THX

  • The good intentions and the pain

Lie drowned now in the pouring rain...

    Rainy day!

    Rainy day!

  • I wish lived in the 80's, it had such good music! Not all this crap you see now a days. Im 15, and music for "my generation" sucks... i love this music!!!!

  • Imagine sitting down and having this stuff going through your mind and then putting it all together what a fantastic talent to have, shame we have so much crap in the charts today when you have someone so clever as Jeff Lynne.

  • 44,000 in the entire planet love this? that's all?

  • @gdoughty5000 Just enough

  • None of today's so-called musicians could ever even think of being this inventive. And certainly never be able to put together get concept albums like ÓUT ON THE BLUE'.How I pity kids today ;O(

  • i love the little overlap with MR BLUE SKY at 4:00

  • Saw them do the entire album live in Berlin when I was posted there,

I can still remember every minute of it!

  • The master of the studio Mr. Jeff Lynne. I'd love to see this reproduced live and with today's technology, it would be awesome!!

  • Mozart could have written this. Fantastic song.

  • Jeff lynne is the most underappreciated and probably the most influential musician of the last 30 tears! He has no peers. He stands head and shoulders above all others! Just my opinion! E L O is awesome!!!!!!!!

  • @MultiHemmy I agree with you. Most of this is because of his natural reclusiveness. The music is just awesome. The arrangements even better and then that voice of his! There will never be another!!

  • @MultiHemmy Well said my friend! Excellence at its very best!

  • @MultiHemmy I totally concur , the depth, inspiration and songwriting skill alone is incredible let alone the voice, guitar and arrangements of these Classical Pop Masterpeices! he can sew a melody into the fabric of the chord ! Its a feakish talent possessed by only a handful that have been as prolific - Lennon- MCartney , and there was 2 of them! Jeff Sebastian Back Lynne

  • You can't clone talent or the culture that fed it.

  • "Out of the Blue" is on my list of the ten best rock 'n' roll albums of all time.

  • What an album Out of the Blue was - unbelievable - bought it when I was 16 - first album I ever bought. Several true classics on it

  • This album is a masterpiece of music!!

  • I grew up to this. Bought the album in '77. AWSOME! I do think it's a shame that noone's brave enough to try something different like ELO and Pink Floyd were doing in the 70's

  • ELO and The Moody Blues are the most underrated bands of all time <3

I absolutely LOVE this song djsaldk

  • @Cyhunt Interesting that you should say that, not just because I agree with you, but some of their songs are very similar...

  • This album is masterpiece. BTW: Why we can´t do music like this anymore? Shortage of grass or something?

  • @finnpet people are trying!! i'm one of them!

i'm trying to get an EP (top four songs) produced and ELO are a massive inspiration! check out my my space if you want (not trying to advertise anything would just like to hear an opinion :) they're not 100% done yet :)

    myspace(.)com(/)alanhynes

  • remember buying this album in 77 and It was like the coolest thing I ever owned, came with a elo t-shirt, a poster with dorothy's ruby shoes and a cool paper model of elo's spaceship... side three was and is still one of my favorite album sides...

  • great share mission507 :))

    beautiful !!!!

  • amazing song and video !!!

  • timeless music......thanks Gary

  • Incredibly Awesome ELO....5*s Thankyou....Anita..

  • totally awesome Elo.

  • el comienzo de esta cancion me recuerda al tema de QUEEN "One Vision"

  • one of my favorite elo songs along with mr. blue sky and twilight

  • Great video, love the clouds and what not.

Oh yeh, I can identify with the lyrics real well.

    Thanks for posting this song.

  • I think we should clone Jeff Lynn and the rest right now just so in the future we can have great music for every generation.

  • yeah i know jeff is a musical genius there will never be a record producer like jeff lynne ever again i mean producing for THE BEATLES?!!! He's that awesome! Not to mention hes a great musician, too! And who doesn't dig that 'fro LOL?! oh and btw out of the blue has to be one of the greatest and most underrated albums of all time

  • @Perktube1 Thanks! Now you made me understand what cryogenic freezing is for!

  • I looove this song and that whole side. Especially when he speaks through the "thunder" synthesizer.

  • The whole 3rd side of "Ouf Of The Blue" is the Concerto, not just this one.

And it is a masterpiece as a whole.

Get "Out Of The Blue", listen and silence forever.

  • CONCERTO FOR A RAINY DAYYYYYYYYYYY

    So spooky!

  • Great lyrics in this too... "the good intentions and the pain left out now in the pouring rain..."

Like life...we sometimes struggle through and get nowhere.

You know what? I love Jeff Lynne even more and he deserves all the success and the riches he nows enjoys.:)

  • just fun music

  • Actually,Jeff wrote the album Out of the Blue while in hiding. This is off that album.

  • have enybody noticed that the bull shit that normaly go's with peoples up loads is missing ... must be class ... respect

  • Interesting story behind this song. Lynne locked himself up in Switzerland to write the songs for this album. Inclement weather created a writing block, but after a week or so, there was a break in the clouds and the weather cleared. On that day, he wrote Mr. Blue Sky. Bad weather ensued, he went back into seclusion, wrote this song and the rest of A New World Record. Cool huh?

  • ELO continues to be unparalleled by any present-day group, and Jeff Lynne is a musical genius. They literally "don't write 'em like this anymore", and it's a shame.

  • bravo ... I totaly agree .... :)

  • Incredible track from an incredible band. Great comments that show just how much this class track is loved by elo.wers.

    Time to rock....

  • Outstanding - I agree you dont get albums like this anymore

  • Sadly, the project album seemed to go out of style with the vinyl record.

  • sends shivers down my spine.. music just not the same anymore

  • Amazing

  • Out of the Blue was an excellent album...dare I say their last truly good work...

  • Dare you say ? It was a timelesly beautiful, mad work. Thousands aspire to this.

  • millions?

  • ELO superb....a part of me that willnever die :)

  • This is so hard but If I had to pick just one ELO Eighties track and one ELO Seventies track they would be Twilight and this, Standin in the Rain, respectively. My favourite track (simply perfection) off my favourite album, Out of the Blue (probably followed by Believe Me Now / Steppin Out).

(Thanks KK for marking as a favourite)

  • I want this tune played at my funeral. It's utterly brilliant.

  • they`re stood in `79 livin`forever,it was very nice but now its gone.

  • i'd totally forgotten this masterpiece until half an hour ago, as for hi fi? i bet this record sounds awesome on 5.1 systems

  • Aren't ELO planning a comeback

  • time killed elo

    not any person

  • What bollocks!!!!

  • this song rocks, ELO, and Jeff Lynn, what a collective creative genius

  • I love the change in tempo at 3:03!

Great song to listen to while racing on my road bicycle!

  • Oh wow......high school all over again! Great times and a fantastic soundtrack to my youth...ELO was always one of my favorites!

  • memories are made of this....ELO i am back!

  • I got a little rain here, outside,

it's 4 in the morning and I go now to put the needle on that very record.

    yeah, blow the rain away.

  • just great

  • blast this out loud on a good Hi Fi and release the power of this epic track!

  • Well said my friend. Theres only one better way to hear this song, and thats ''live'' I saw them do it ''live'' at Wembley back in the 70s. It choked me up it was so good!

  • Oh wow, that would have been so amazing

  • Has to be one of the best recordings of all time.. to have been made in the 70's.. You can put it up against the best of today... nothing touches the ELO recordings!!!

  • ME ENCANTA!!!

  • Great song by a great band. I wish there were more bands nowdays like ELO, using strings instead always the same damn electric guitar.

  • I LOVE THIS SONG!!!!!!!!!

  • yeah yeah and oh yeah this has some real head cutters here in some places! rips off everything! bloody marvelous stuff! especially that diminishing chorus !!!!!

  • I've always loved this song. ELO's music is beyond comparison to anything else and truely the most under rated band in the US.Jeff Lynne is my hero.

  • in the US ??
