I just wanted to hear her Aria from Samson and Delilah and noticed your post re Memoriam and I find myself filled with tears... I never heard of her passing. I'm 53 and grew up in an artistic family and just realized how touched I've been by her gift. Thank you for posting. RIP Ms. Verrett and thank you for filling our hearts. Praises to God for your gift and the gift you returned and gave to the World!

I remember Shirley Verrett when she was at the start of her illustrious career. I thought at that time she would soon become a household name. What a singer and artist! She is very musical in her interpretations and, at the same time, full of fire and passion. Moreover, she is extremely versatile in the roles she sang. Her passing is a great loss to the opera world. Thanks, Addi, for the video commemorating her spirit.
