but in a real earthquake everybody will just run outside like in this video

  • Lmao 0:42 Look at the woman stealing

  • There was like no warning, just hit all at once.

Dont think its haarp, 2012 or anything really unusual. Just happens to be people moving to more remote place each year and more cameras to document everything. So it seems like more.

  • man dat not funny!!!

  • I would have taken some stuff out with me and just run to my car.

  • looks like people got some free swag

  • In case of an Emergency, Walk do not Run !!!!!

  • I live in Eureka..it was scary...but not THAT scary..the "Guy In The Hat" has the basic reaction..I mean to say..the SCARY part was..for those of us who've experienced other quakes...the scary part is that it CONTINUED...after a moment..they are.."Supposed To Stop"..thats what the MIND is telling you..when they DON'T..then it gets worrisome.

The PANIC..is frankly..Embarrassing! I am irritated...at this "Moment of Truth" regarding the "Cajones" around here...Yuppies all RAN! Worst thing to do!

  • lol on 0:23 seconds !!! look at the guy with the hat on the right side of the camera ... lol he is lost .. " hmmm whut should i get right know" lol haha when theres an earth quack lol

  • That did make me laugh but i'd like to think he was looking for someone and ran back to look again instead of what was for sale on that shelf.

  • I love it how some people were just walking around like nothing was happening

  • nice to see everyone knows what to do in a quake lol

  • DUH to those of you who havent been in a real california quake your NOT THINKING ABOUT STEALING SHIT your thinking about your lives get real people are not stealing merely running for their lives

  • The guy standing by the door in the gray hoodie at 0:27 was definitely thinking about stealing stuff. body language gives it away.

  • I see only two people that refused to stampede and just watched the blind panic. Didn't they get the memo?

    Thanks for the good video.

  • I was one of those (2) and there were more than that,( the 4 people around me didn't panic either. The stampede bottle neck was rather dramatic, but those light fixtures are just hanging by a thread.

  • LMAO!!!! I saw so many people grab stuff and run out and some run back into the store to see what they could steal.

  • Did you see the women swipe most of her shopping!

Sod the building collapsing l need my beans and newpaper!

  • they all were stealing az they ran out the store

  • ROFL >.... That's what happens to people when they panicked.. =)

  • HAARP

  • @ramir233 LOOL yeah man it's horrible

  • i wonder how many people walked out with stuff

  • i would like to be in a best buy store:)

  • you can tell the ppl who've been in a quake before from those who haven't

  • i would've walked out with a cart full of food. haha jk

  • @JellyPunky thats what the cameras are for

  • with a camera that blurry you can't tell who took what

  • i think i actually heard that one guy ran out with his cart haha

  • Well if the quake is really bad, Wall mart would just write everything up to insurance anyway.

but if you notice the next time you go into any big department store like wal-mart, all those glass bubble things are camera, they actually have dozens all over, this shot is just 1 they decided to release.

By the way, I work overseas, and the west coast of the island we got hit by an Earthquake, 7.2 in Haiti, I am in the D.R. all it did was move my bed a bit. no wall marts here, too bad :)))

  • i have been a couple big earthquakes and its really scary the first few times but if i was in the store for this one i would steal anything i could get my hands on

  • HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

watch the guy on the right from 0:22 on ..... he's like:

    "oh wait.... where is.....

why is everybody running outside? I think I also should... but... no... WAIT!!!! now everything's for free...

    I... I go back inside!!!!"

it's amazing how everything stops when mother nature strikes back :D

actually this is the wrong term, because global warming isn't caused by us.

Something big is going to happen.. and it will be in 2012...

check out my channel btw !!!!

    peace and light

  • @hatesphereB you are a retard, 2012, global warming, all BS.

  • Looks like the last customer drove out with a full shopping cart and didn't pay for it! Slick! :P

  • I want to kick some earthquake ass and show em who's boss.

  • lol! check out the guy on the right side...he's so relaxed when all others are like: get the f out of here, now!

  • That is some scary crap!

  • i would have taken the money

  • LOL i see nothing falling breaking or coming off shelves these people ran for no reason especially since it's made to withstand 10.0 im sure they posted that somewheres on the way into the building or at least put it in the papers when it was being built.

  • Hmm, okay smarty pants, I'd like to see you make that quick of an assessment while the earth is undulating under your feet and the lights are swaying above your head. The Coop had cans and bottles flying off the shelves. My husband was in a store that had the ceiling falling on him. Any idiot would have the instincts to know you go outside, do not stop to read the seismic safety sign on the door, just go.

  • I miss Humboldt county. co-op is a great store for specialty food items and organic local farmed veggies/fruits!

LOL@ the scared hippies runn out. this is a brand new building, was made to withstand a 10.0

  • @LUXBeaker... actually, this is the Arcata Co-op which was remodeled in the early 90's. The new store is the one in Eureka and it was trashed, despite it being "earthquake safe", nothing would withstand a 10.0. I work at the Eureka store, and it was all crazy here...

  • I'm impressed that everyone people got out of there so calmly.

  • @louhallie

It was just past 4:20. :-)

  • LOL

  • @oldskool667 yep i was hellsa ripped at the time

  • The Arcata Co-op is the old Purity store, built in the late 50's, long before siesmic regulations. It's saving grace is that is a rounded construction, like a quanset hut.

  • at 0:20 the woman put the milk and her stuff on the floor to not steal it... lol that's kinda sweet of her

  • I was so watching her to see if she'd take the stuff! haha

  • do you see the guy at :22 seconds in? he's over on the top right part of the screen. i got a feeling he is trying to steal something.

  • FREE stUFF

  • Did you notice at the very end how it looked like that lady was going to go out of the store with the grocery's without paying?...maybe she was just to freaked out to realize. lol

  • id be stealing all their shit

  • Take your dustbin to the supermarket so that you can see which items you have recently run out of.

Alternatively, increase the weight of your wife's trousers by attaching onions to the belt hoops.

  • 100% off...Everything!

  • I like how theres a few guys walking around in the store as if they were like?

    Earthquake? what Earthquake

  • @dctcool Ya. Once you been through a few it's pretty normal.

I remember after the northridge quake there was an aftershock that was far more 'rolly' than 'shaky' and I SAW my house swaying back and forth. That freaked me out, but 6.5... eh. Not too terrible.

  • so many honest ppl... unbelieple

  • that dude with the blond hair first cashier knew it the whole time haha its funny at my job if there is an emergency we have to lead the customers out first and then us haha

  • 6.5??? it looked worse than that to me lol

  • Man I'd be stuffin' games and candy and lighters and orville reddenbauckers in my jeans and shit!

  • I would take so much shit with me

  • That's all I was thinking too. Haha.

  • stash and run yo!

  • you are black ?

  • I think if it would be a question it would be:

    Are you black?

  • lol one guy steal anything

  • Those people are so stupid! Running outside like that. That's how most people get hurt during earthquakes! If you all panic and start running outside, people get hurt because they plow into each other and run over people. Also, the whole front of the store is made of glass. How about we all run towards it? The best thing to do is get underneath something sturdy, if possible, and protect your head and neck.

  • @Jahar

What do they know.. maybe they thought the building was falling down.

  • Well, it didn't. And people who live around here, which is all who shop at the Co-op, should know that since we live DIRECTLY on a fault line, that all of the buildings, except the really old ones in Eureka and Arcata, not the Co-op, are made to withstand earthquakes. If the building is swaying, that's good. That's what it's supposed to do.

  • Are you crazy? All of the "really old" buildings are the most liable to fall down. Almost all of the buildings in Old Town have warning signs on them saying to GTFO if there's an earthquake basically.

  • lrn2read

Apparently you didn't read my post. I said that all of the buildings EXCEPT THE REALLY OLD ONES were made to withstand earthquakes. I live here. I know. THE NEWER buildings, like the Co-op, are made to withstand earthquakes.

  • Oh sorry, yeah I misread it.

  • I've never experienced an earthquake. That has to be a scary thing. They running like the earth aint gonna be shaking outside the store. lol.

  • @diah4 The earth will be shaking outside, but you're a little less likely to have a lighting fixture hit you in the head, in the parking lot. :)

  • After watching this numerous times I see that several people received free groceries...tsk tsk.

  • I was in Eureka at the H & H Safeway, working. I kind of wish we could get the security tapes for there, especially in my little booth! But it's veeery doubtful.

  • This sure was a long one.

  • I love the guy with the hat on the right. Seems to be thinking "hmm...this is interesting."

  • Look at all those idiots running outside. The earthquake is happening outside too!!!

  • but outside there is a lower risk of having a roof collapse on your head

  • actually the highest risk is outside the buildings. the best thing is to duck under a desk or counter

  • Yeah, but shit isn't falling from the sky, so you are the idiot here.

  • But the building fixtures, signs, power lines, etc could be falling outside.

From the State of California Website:

"If you're indoors, stay there. Get under -- and hold onto --a desk or table, or stand against an interior wall. Stay clear of exterior walls, glass, heavy furniture, fireplaces and appliances. The kitchen is a particularly dangerous spot. If you're in an office building, stay away from windows and outside walls and do not use the elevator."

  • i was in eureka when it happened and when i we felt if it started to roll first for like 4 seconds and then there was like 3 or 4 bad shakes and then it rolled for like another 30 seconds... this video was in arcata though so they must have felt it different.

  • thanks for posting this! feeling the quake makes it difficult to picture what the motion looked like, it's cool to see it in action!

  • It is an interesting juxtaposition, the folks running for their lives and those who calmly walk about as though it is just a mere fire drill. Somehow the Co-op doesn't look as funky as it did when I lived in Arcata 20 years ago.

  • do you have footage of the eureka co-op? i was in the store when it happened and i would love to see the footage. it was really scary in there. thanks.

  • @kathryncupcake I also want to see Eureka co-op footage.

  • The Eureka Co-op lost power almost immediately, so we do not have footage. You can see photos of the damage to both stores on our website.
