Essentially yes. It's stereo and sensitive enough, but even with a slight breeze or near AC you get unbearable noise. It's also easy to put your finger over the mics when recording since it's so small. You really have to make your own windscreen or dead kitten and cover the mics to use it outside.

I bought mine last wednesday. Im still learning on how to do nice photos. I watched alot of videos here in youtube about the comparison b/w tz10 and hx5v.a bit dissapointed in hx5 bec.of the quality of video. Its nicer the panasonic tz10. But what i likw in hx5v is sweap panorama. Still ilove my new sony. Lol

Was choosing between this camera and the canon sx210 is, panasonic zs7 and samsung HB650/ HZ35W.. these all sell for around $350 and have pretty similar specs. Eventually went ahead with the sony hx5v, the CMOS sensor and low-light performance won me over. The Sony camera is the thinnest and sleekest as well!

Most of the video was shot with a regular Sony video camera and a blu-tooth mic. The video at the very end was done on the HX5V. I do have a title that pops up at the end to indicate this.

You can stitch panos together in photoshop with a few clicks. It does it automatically, and doesn't take that long.
