  • 2:50-2:59 Love at first sight<3

  • the whole male vs female in SPEEEEESS part reminds me somewhat of The Big Bang.

  • Wait, wait, wait. So, is this ACTUALLY what you people though the 21st century would be like???

  • The Montague king's servant sounds like droopy @ 1:03.

  • The way that guy smiles is so pervie!

  • I love the animation in these old Nelvana specials

  • i remember seeing this back in about '82.where does the time go?

  • im doing homework, and watching canadian films!

  • I remember this from when I was 5, good times

  • Oh man, I remember this so vaguely, and yet I remember crying when I saw it as a kid. I'm so glad to find it now!

  • this is available on VHS I rented it once.

  • Good old Nelvana and their square eyes!

  • wowee wow wow!! I rememeber this!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Thanks for posting it!!!

  • Who else wants to see Steve Jobs dance like that the next time he unveils the latest iThingy?

  • Oh, man. I want a super-sweets platter to pig on while robot hands give me a back massage

This is the best technology ever.

  • "Where for art thou Romeo"

    translates to

"Are you yanking my chain, are you fooling me"

    NOT "Where are you"

Really...I wish these guys could've done a bit more research...

    ._.

    Otherwise a fantastic film. =3

  • @MissMiano I was under the impression that it meant

"Why are you Romeo", like "why did it have to be you, and not someone from a family my family DOESN'T hate."

And I'm sure it has less to do with research and more to do with the fact it's just a cartoon made for kids and they're using kid logic as opposed to teen angst.

  • @MissMiano Actually it means, "Why are you called Romeo?"

  • @MissMiano Pretty much every children's cartoon gets it wrong. And yeah, I learned it meant "Why do you have to be a member of the capulet family and not another?"

  • @MissMiano It's actually more like WHY are you Romeo...like "WHY did the guy I just fell in love with have to be Romeo, my enemy? oh this sucks" ...just to be a little more clear. LOL I'm an English teacher so I'm picky

  • WOW! I have'nt seen this in years!

  • love the song

  • Where did you FIND this? I would love to get a torrent of this!

  • I like how it's the far future but they still pass data around on 60s-style punchcards.

  • I remember the villain, Sparepartski. This movie was very weird. lol

  • Korey Coleman of Spill.com what have you shown me?!......Not bad.

  • how can robots have emotion

  • Reminds me somewhat of Robots by Blue Sky Studios

  • @nyahkitty Pervy blue mustache guy .... :-P

  • i saw that im telling

  • Is the guy doing the voice of Gizmo the shifty junkman also the same guy who did the voice of Wheez Weasel in the DEVIL AND DANIEL MOUSE.

  • Why were the men and women in this cartoon so obese?

  • It's vision of the future turned out to be quite prophetic. :P

  • That's true. There is a big obesity problem in America today. Thanks due in part to advanced technology.

  • Actually, this was made in Canada, but I get your meaning.:)

More recently there was a similar vision of future people in Wall-E.

  • I know it was made in Canada, but it seems that obesity is becoming a serious problem in all Western countries not just the U.S. A study was taken a few years ago that England has a bigger obesity problem than America. There are overweight people in U.K. than in the U.S.

  • @67nairb actually its not as serious as we are often led to believe. people are taller now, and live longer lives, and they also get a more varied and nutritious diet. i think the current average in weight gain over all individuals is 7-9 pounds... certainly not a panic inducing thing. unless the current media gets its hands on "tests" often performed by bias drug companies, that fail to take in information that may be vital to the validity of the testing itself.

  • @Montork ah fuck it, it doesn't even matter... im just tired of hearing about "the obesity epidemic" especially in the context of 30 year old cartoons. why can't we just enjoy the awesomeness of this animation without dragging modern day shit back into it?

  • @Montork Well I'm 5"7' tall and weigh about 180-190 lbs and was told that I was heavy for my height. They say my weight should be 175 lbs or less.

  • @67nairb i am 5'9 and weigh 200... but i have weighed this for all of my adult life. it really depends upon the persons genetics what weight they are most likely to settle at. most doctors use an antiquated bmi system, which was designed by a belgian mathematician for use in insurance polices,to judge a persons overall health. based on the idea that thin = healthy whether that is true or not, rather than on a case by case basis.

  • @Montork i believe that it is better to be fat and as healthy as possible then to be thin at any price... because some bodies are not meant to be thin. eat right, exercise, if you lose weight thats cool, if not it doesn't matter. currently i am in some of the best shape of my life.

  • @67nairb You might want to do what the English humorist Dennis Norden did: he determined that if the height-to-weight ratio was off, the thing to do wasn't to lose weight, but to gain height.

  • Oops--typo. "Its". :)

  • I saw this cartoon exactly 30 years ago this month on WNBC Channel 4. It was on a Friday evening and the ANIMALYPMICS special came right after it. Haven't seen both cartoons in 30 years.

  • now that looks futuristic, but it's kinda like a dr. seuss-esque style

  • Wouldn't it be great if fat company leaders really did dance around like that?! The world would be a much funner place :)

  • @megadork456 i agree

  • 2:55

For some reason, her hair and eye design reminds me of the character Melody from the series 'My Life as a Teenage Robot.'

I think I may have seen this a very long time ago on some cable channel, but not sure where.

I do like the animation and voice used for Julie-8. There's just the right amount of action and innocence to convey a 'young love' in her mannerisms.

  • I am so thrilled to see this again after so many years - thanks so much for uploading it! :D

  • does anyone else thing Julie-8's woman is like Endive from cartoon network's Chowder?

  • Yeah! I thought that too!

  • Julie's head looks like it had been cut in half and then glued right back on.

  • i saw that im telling

  • Classic

  • I think this is a really sweet story. I've seen Wall-e of course, and there is a common thread through both of those about what a powerful thing emotion is.

  • Was this cartoon the inspiration for WALL-E?

  • Do I hear Jack Mercer as the voice of Popeye?

  • I mean, do I hear Jack Mercer as the voice of the obese man?

  • B the way THANKS !!!

  • I have been looking for this movie for years!!! I fell in love with the song that was sung while on the spaceship as the two were traveling through space.

  • You know the humans in "WALL-E" were at least that fat if not fatter and they couldn't move at all. Of course they lost most of their bone density due to being in outer space while these humans are on a planet so I guess that makes it an exception. Still these humans should watch "WALL-E".

  • thank you for posting this

  • Thank you so very much for posting this! I've been looking for it for so very long. For the longest time, I was the only person I knew who remembered this special. Thank you for confirming that I wasn't crazy!

  • Wow, I can't thank you enough for posting this!

  • OH, how I love NELVANA and that animation team of that time. What in the heck happened to this company?!? I remember this airing on network television in 1978, was it?

  • They're still around. They still do animation. Just more kids stuff

  • The 'name' is still around but the animation staff of those classics are probably not. THAT'S what made me pay attention to Nelvana in the first place.

  • I don't know if the name is still around. I know there is a company called Cookie Jar that is lead by former producers of the company like Micheal Hearst. They might have renamed it.

  • Thanks you for posting this - I haven't seen it since I was 6!! I've been looking a long time for this. Thanks so much!!

  • "Your mother makes TOASTERS!!"

  • Thank you so much for posting these! I only saw this once when I was seven or so, and I was wondering how well I remembered it.

  • THANK YOU!!!!!

  • oh gosh! thanks:)

  • Just in time for Valentine's Day.
