Then I use the smallest curling iron I have which is a 1/4 inch. You can use a bigger iron but I like smaller curls. After you wrap the hair you twist it around the iron and hold then when you release you hold the hair there for a bit before you untwist it. It stays in alot longer for me if I do curl my hair this way

I have this problem. My hair is extremely thick and won't coperate and stays board straight. I love you curl my hair but normally it takes atleast and hour and a half maybe two. But i've figured out a new way that doesn't take so long. I use garnier pure clean smoothing cream, to keep the frizz down. Then I take two strands hair about a half inche each and twine them around eachother loosely.

i dont really have thick hair but i have *a lot* of hair. i curled my hair the normal way i guess you can say and it took about an hour-2hours.

and it turned out crappy.

so i had to waste even more time by going and washing my hair to get the curls out and then i just straightend it. waste. of. my. life.

That takes forever! Yeah like my hair. My hair is so freaking thick to that's why it takes me 2 hours to curl it. But then after I knew how to curl my hair using my straightener, it only took me 20-30 mins :)

My problem with curling my thick hair is not that it takes too long but the way the curls come out. I have really layered hair and your tip will totally help me achieve the look that I want, but taking short pieces of my hair doesn't work for me - it would look disastrous and totally poofy!

Liz.. I am Bi-racial; White & Black.. Its hard sometimes as to how to manage my hair; its Unruly, to say the least..lol..lol.. It's thick, but the strands are thin.. I use the Standard Curling Iron, spray some hair spray on it to hold the curl, just to get done, toss it, and it goes flat on me.. I dont want my hair to be stiff as a board with hair spray.. ugggghhh help please!!
