I used similar with my dog - stood still when he pulled, verbal marker + treat when he steped back to make the lead slack.

I have an English Mastiff, - your technique even works with the giants :-)

How long will I have to carry a 6lb bag of treats with me to do this?....I only need 3-4 treats I am guessing..

Very very good indead! You should be doing TV shows as you are completely positive and have a lovely clear way of explaining things. I was most immpressed when you dropped the leash and even when you turned the dogs went to your sides demonstrating that the way you trained them created happiness!
