When you have enjoy this beautilful piece by the Motion Trio, it's hard to bare something so bad than this voice not fitting in. It's only what I feel but it sound really awful to me.
It would be interesting to know, what you mean by his voice not fitting the piece? Because, you may not like his style, but you simply can't say that his singing is bad. Actually, it's a jazzy kind of improvisation that he did right there on stage without much (if any) preliminary preparation. Only a good singer can do that. And you may also not like his timbre, but that doesn't mean that his singing is false or anything.
I admit that maybe his singing is not perfect. But, in my opinion, here the singers voice doesn't have to fit with their melody or rhythm (or whatever you call it) perfectly all the time. Yes, I saw that Bobby McFerrin did that, being the master that he is, but to me it didn't sound quite as interesting as this more liberal improvisation that Busulis did.
Unfortunately I can't find that particular Motion Trio video with Bobby McFerrin anymore, otherwise I would insert a link to that video here. All the other videos with McFerrin that can be found here on youtube are just superb. Of course, Busulis can't even dream to reach his level. It takes either an exceptional talent, or long years of hard work to be able to use one's voice like McFerrin does.
Busulis is talented, but not that talented, and he is a bit too young and unexperienced in that kind of singing style. Besides, he is trying too many things and styles all the time to become that good in just one of them. Good for the first time, anyway.
Hi Boguswoman. Well I can see this matter is important to you :o). I admit that I may have been a bit too extreme in my comment. Well that's only my opinion and personaly I don't like this version with Busulis. I don't say he's a bad singer, I don't know him apart from that video. Thanks very much for mentionning the name of Bobby McFerrin.
I didn't know him but I found this video with the Motion trio, and I really like it very much (maybe it's the one your were talking about) : go on Dailymotion and search "Motion trio", you'll find the video with Bobby McFerrin. Unforunately I can't put the direct link in this comment, it's not working if I do.
I listened to the other live (acoustic) version of this piece that is posted here on youtube, and I think that I understand you now - at least partially. In my opinion, Busulis's singing fits just fine with this version, but that other version is kind of instrumentally more refined and richer (I don't know how to otherwise say it) and it simply doesn't need a singer's voice - no matter if it's a simply good singer like Busulis, or a genius like McFerrin.

The opening of this piece is beautiful...then there's no where to go.

Таааакс! Я уже на "Новой волне" понял, что от этого чудака можно будет очень интересных вещей дождаться и, кажется, не ошибся. КЛАСССС!!!
