Do you know how a sharp broadhead killes? You take out the lungs of the game animal with a swift cut thru a high speed razor blade that they barely notice, the lungs colapse and cut off the oxygen supply to the brain so that the animal passes out without felling too much of it all. A bit like an overdose of the old anesthetic laughing gas, which also cuts the oxygen supply to the brain.

not really - choking envolves force against at least the windpipe and would trigger the release of adrinalin. The chest/lung wound rather uses the chest cavite itself to deflat the lungs, which prevents oxygen intake. Depending on the trauma and therefore the the broadhead typ as status of care, the infliction of the wounds is triggering hardly any adrinalin release. So the animal is not/less aware of what just happened and will expire without a fight. Now try to choke that hippo...

As he swam it caused increased blood flow, and he died of internal bleeding. Hippos can hold their breath for like 30 mins or longer so he didnt drown, the bubbles were from when he died he let the air out if his lungs,

All of you who think a hippo can't be killed quickly with a single arrow really need to take a basic anatomy class. When you cut a 1+ in hole through any animals heart/lungs it will die rather quickly.

I'm sure a 13 inch tusk through the neck help speed up the process, but a 1.5 inch hole through anything's heart will be fatal just the same.

And as for Milo, you must not know that the most common method of taking a hippo is to shoot it in the head as it surfaces in the water and wait for it to swell and float before pulling it to shore.

Amazing video...One arrow shot killed that hippo..It was dead on its feet after the shot..No need for follow up with the gun...Another arrow would of been great,,,But the PH and the hunter knew the shot was very good.The other Hippo did not kill the shot hippo the arrow did .Once again thanks for a sweet video..
