Actually the sword a is a normal very thin metal blade that uses a magnetic pulse from the hilt to straighten and give it form.

@isantamies2 They always fight with swords. But its not worth explaining in the kids show that its because Ra's is an immortal genocidal maniac, so you give him a lightsaber that can't do any real damage and you have an almost compromise.

in the movie, they sparred with swords.

In the video game based on the comics, they fought with swords.
