I guess I'm just lucky but my cat falls asleep when I trim his hair... only around the bum cos that prevents the yucky tangles :)

Ugh I wish I could groom my cats myself, I don't want to waste so much money on something that I know I could do myself. I don't want a professional haircut, just a trim here and there to make them more comfortable (on the paws, backside, etc), but I realized when I trimmed their claws that it would be impossible for me to do it, I didn't hurt them (its easy to see the red you shouldnt cut through) but they still bit and scratched me like hell. :( Any suggestions?

I have two Yorkies, but my little one also does the same thing with licking my hand while I clip her hair around her paws.
