these are 3 year old batteries from Duracell; I even went in the water 1 year ago with this Mag; yeah the procedure for taking the head off was devastating haha
or you can by (if you have ha 4-6D cell maglite or charger) the newest TerraLUX 300M EX Ministar30, and you will have the most advance and the brightest LED upgrade for maglite, that are very easy too put in place... over 700 lumens, computerchip inside it that controll the heat, soo it does'nt over heat... I will have it soon:D
How can you guys can make the maglite so bright like that? I purchase one upgrade LED from Niteize but the brightness is just ordinary. Is there any special battery or better LED then Niteize you are using?
@ayotolla Nite Ize are the bottom of the upgrade pack. Terralux makes brighter kits. The 1 watt dropins are 50 lumens. The next step up is 140 lumens, then 700 lumens at the top of the line. Just browse their website for specs.
@ayotollah From Wiki - The lumen (symbol: lm) is the SI unit of luminous flux, a measure of the power of light perceived by the human eye. Luminous flux differs from radiant flux, the measure of the total power of light emitted, in that luminous flux is adjusted to reflect the varying sensitivity of the human eye to different wavelengths of light. The lumen is defined in relation to the candela by
@ayotollah I have the Terralux 140 Lumen drop in for a 3 D cell Maglite. Its a whiter, brighter light than the Xenon bulb form Maglite. The main advantage is supposed to be much longer battery life but I havent had it long enough to judge that yet. Most reviews say it can double or even triple your battery life.
@ayotollah The biggest I`m aware of for a Mini Mag is a claimed 100 Lumens from the Terralux MiniStar2 TLE-5EX from Battery Junction for about $20. I have not used this one but it gets good reviews on Battery Junction. Its a drop in kit that comes with a new reflector.
yey, Retains focusing ability!

1 lm = 1 cd·sr
Short version, higher # means a brighter light
