Fumefx is a plugin that requires a LOT of memory to do detailed simulations. I upgraded to 8 gigabytes of DDR2, and even then I have to be careful about optimizing my settings. I've started some sims that devoured 2 gigabytes all to themselves after about five frames. Set the spacing to what your computer can handle, or upgrade your RAM. I highly recommend a 64-bit system if you don't already have one.
i thought the explosion was big enuf, but it wasnt realistic because... the explosion should have been an instant big flash, not small explosion then BIG explosion.
Bomb physics were... have you ever seen a bomb? Why did the bomb stay there and just kindof come to a rest on the ground? No craters, no building damage?
wow reactor reaaally sux

nice, but the shockwave is too late(timing)

I like how the bomb just sort of catches on fire after it falls.

how do you keep your simulation from stopping and saying"the aplication has run out of memmory and will now close"?
elevadon 2 years ago
sounds like a RAM problem to me thats what mine used to say but then i upgraded and now it doesnt
francereddog 2 years ago
i've got 4 gb of ram, but it stops when 3ds max has only used 1gb...
(other account)

Mine can only use 200mb of ram before deciding it wants to close... i have 3 gb
Deathcheese123 2 years ago
>_> try buying more RAM.
The bigger and more complex the scene is,the more RAM you need.T3T And when it comes to rendering,The Cpu is the main focus

AerotechMan101 3 years ago
Cus this is harder than you think.
AngrySackBoy 3 years ago
i know, it is hard, but im just saying the pysics are a little off, if it were intended to catch on fire, it would look fantastic
AerotechMan101 3 years ago
yea that is true, just a simple timescale error :D
AngrySackBoy 3 years ago
exactly... and he should have got rid of the bomb case when it blew up... otherwise...fantastic, and the plane loooks good

is FumefX fully compatible with Vray and/or Mental Ray?
Ankebut89 3 years ago
With VRay - yes. With Final Render Stage 1 - Yes. With Mental Ray - No.
Cheers.

dude, its an animation, focus more on the graphics than the realism of physics!!! ever heard of being artistic?
